The Big Spruce

Just stepped in to experience the new Breakfast Menu. Everything looks incredible. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy with Sunny-Side Eggs and it was absolutely perfect. Enjoyed my meal very much. So happy we now have one of the best breakfast places around right here in Richmond!

We have been eating at the Big Spruce ever since they opened, and we have consistently had a great experience. We were excited to try the new breakfast/ lunch menu…. And it was phenomenal! Hands down the best fried chicken & tater tots we have ever tried. Portions were generous, flavor was perfect, and the service is always outstanding. If you haven’t tried the big spruce yet, run… don’t walk. It’s the best!

Big Spruce had been a staple in our food lineup since moving to Burlington. We recently bought a house down the road and stopped in after night riding at Bolton to celebrate with friends. While the food is consistently good the service tonight was exceptional. So much so I’m a few Mezcal margaritas deep writing a review about it. It was Friday night busy and our server never once let us feel forgotten. He was attentive, his outfit was fire and he made sure our drinks were never dry. Can’t wait to walk down the road and be taken care of like this on the regular. 🫶🏻

First time diners and will be returning! Very welcoming staff, expansive food and drink menus, and family friendly. Nice to know they also have a full Mezcal menu 👀 Thank you Jasmine and team 🙏

Just had the most delicious breakfast-we LOVE the new concept! I wanted to take pictures but we couldn’t hold back from eating long enough! Had chicken and waffles (yes, they use thigh meat, so it’s proper) and huevos rancheros with the house made tortillas. Bloody Mary’s were the perfect amount of spice without heartburn 👍 So happy to have a breakfast place in Richmond. And thanks to Bella and Emma and their incredible service. Can’t wait to go back! ❤

If you are looking for the best place to eat in Burlington, The Big Spruce, is the best place to eat, even though it is in Richmond.

The food is incredible. Everything we ate was delicious, fresh, a blend of summer flavors punctuated by local ingredients.

And the service! Oh, what service! Friendly, patient, personable-our main server was Curtis, who we adored. In addition, literally every other person who helped us made us feel welcomed. Thank you to the incredible staff who made this the best meal in Chittenden County!

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Very healthy portions and great menu. My wife and I’s first time going tonight and will absolutely visit again. The servers are great and manager Christopher is always very helpful and welcoming. Awesome establishment in Richmond.

Came in for lunch with a bigger group (6) and they were able to accommodate no problem. Great service and food. Went with the juevos rancheros and cleaned the plate. Will definitely be back!

Delicious food from their apps through to their dessert. The churros were exceptional. Staff were kind and attentive. Would recommend to anyone local or passing through the area

A chill place with serving delicious Mexican food. The tacos were very good with the scallop taco (a special) being a stand out along with the carne asada. Drinks were also good, especially the Margarita. Great outdoor space.

Breakfast was fantastic, the new menu (and hours) are much welcome. Between this and Hatchet, support these people, they’re doing very good things.

Dined here for the first time last night- what an amazing experience!

Chevy our waitress was professional, patient, attentive, and extremely helpful! My water glass was never even half empty and she knew the entire menu like the back of her hand. She never rushed us even when it seemed like we were taking forever to even look at the menu. The food came out in a timely manner and was delicious. Clearly fresh ingredients, and yummy taste all around! Will definitely be back again to Big Spruce!

I was there on Thursday the 29th. It was pretty busy and they were kind of clamoring to accommodate the influx of people that I think was brought on my a sudden break in the weather. There was a younger guy that was kind of directing everything and trying to accommodate each party with a table. He did a great job and while he was clearly and understandably a little overwhelmed, he made the effort to check in with us while we waited for a table and after we got seated. Food and drinks were great and came out timely despite the rush.

While the dining room is small, there is ample outdoor seating for spring, summer, and fall. And while I was there it seemed that the take out option was in full swing as well...

The food was outstanding! I always seem to have a blah experience at local Mexican restaurants (and I've tried them all), but this menu is inspired! It is high quality! It is delicious! Those of you seeking cheap Mexican food... Skip this, and go to Taco Bell. Better yet, stsy home, and make it yourself. Stop complaining about the cost of quality food, and talented chefs.

I had 3 tacos and a side of rice and black beans... needless to say I was stuffed! The meats were all perfectly done, the flavor combinations were spot on, the rice was not bland and dry, but flavorful and cooked to perfection. While I had the black beans which were wonderful, I got to sample the refried beans, and I have never tasted another refried bean dish that could compare!

The service was wonderful! Chevy is a true asset to this restaurant! Knowledge about the menu, the ingredients, the preparation, and so friendly! Those of you complaining about the service fee need to relax. I hope more restaurants adopt this policy. When you go out to eat, you should plan on at least a 15% tip. If you don't then it is my opinion that you have no business going out. Do they allow you to make an additional tip? Sure! And it starts at 0. And then 5%. I generally tip 20% when I go out, so I felt that having the option to tip more was great!... in fact, I tipped 10% more because I felt my experience was worthy of it.

On a final note, they are aware of food sensitivities and allergies and help their patrons with ordering as needed.

What an absolute joy! Highly recommend that you visit!

Went there for a cone after a lovely day by the river. The ice cream did not disappoint. Got a kiddie toasted black sesame that was out of this world good. The size and price was just right for me. Friends tried other flavors and had similar reviews.

Haven’t tried the restaurant or brews itself, but would go back) especially for the creemee)!

The space is cozy and cool with good food. I especially love the yucca fries and the churros. Never had a bad experience. I feel lucky to have so many great restaurant options in Richmond including Big Spruce!

Last night was our first visit to The Big Spruce, and we were really looking forward to it. Our experience did not disappoint! We thoroughly enjoyed everything about it…the service (our server, Chevy, was the consummate professional), the atmosphere (the music was fantastic), the diversity and creativity of the menu, the cocktails, and the amazing food! We shared an order of PEI oysters to start us off, and they were sooo goood! I split an order of steak fajitas with my son in law John, and we each added 1 taco to supplement the fajitas. My Nashville hot taco had just the right amount of heat, and the fajitas were delicious! The chips and salsa were perfect, and my margarita and Hill Farmstead Edward washed it all down to perfection! We can’t wait to go back, especially to enjoy the outdoor dining and Mexican street corn in season!

We had great food and drinks at Big Spruce. I especially appreciate the time someone took to help me identify foods that I could eat with my dietary restrictions- they generated a list of menu items that I could safely eat. It's hard to convey how much it means to me that someone cared enough to take the time to do that. I really don't expect it, as most places don't do it. Thank you!!
