I love this book shop! You will find incredibly unique books here and it seems the owner is constantly restocking. This is a gem in the northland - I have only found book shops like this in Europe. My advice is to go when you have plenty of time to look around and see what you can discover.

The best bookseller in Kansas City. Large selection of history, Christianity, spirituality, metaphysics, but also some sci-fi paperbacks and classic fiction. Cannot recommend highly enough.

This store has a great selection of books. A little bit of everything but especially a real nice selection of vintage books. HIGHLY recommend this store! ❤
The shop owner is also super kind and helpful all around the place and the people have a good vibe 🙂

IYKYK! Walking into the store is like walking into your eccentric aunt's house: Things are piled high over your head, random objects are everywhere, there's books as far as the eye can see, and it smells like incense and home.
The owner was wonderful; I mentioned shipping some books to my mom when I was done reading them. He immediately piped up with: " If you're going to do that, bring them back here. I'll weigh them for you and we'll ship them out from here to make sure you get the media rate."
I spent way more than I intended to and cannot wait to go back.

My tween and I really enjoyed this fun and quirky book store. Loads and loads of treasures! The floor-to-ceiling books, and the shelves, shelves, shelves made it such a fun place to look around. Owner was welcoming, knowledgeable, and really seemed to love books. Especially fantastic selection of 80s-era science fiction and fantasy. Saw so many old favorites in the sci fi/fantasy section--many with the covers I grew up with. Horror section was surprisingly varied with an interestingly curated group. Much better selection than the usual offerings of Poe, King, Koontz, and Straub. If an old New Orleans Rue Decatur bookstore was spliced with a late 1990's Seattle, WA used bookstore it would look something like this. Book wonderland. It's a door to faerie/wardrobe to Narnia kind of place and I expected Aziraphale to pop out at any moment with a cuppa and rare book in hand. 5 stars.

Just stopped in for the first time. They have a large selection. Definitely worth a trip for real book collectors with many rare titles. The owner was very friendly and very helpful.

This is a hidden gem to take time and just look. Be open minded to the selections and quantity of books.

Please take time and go visit. Find a quiet corner and fall in love with reading.

Hands down one of, if not THE best bookstore I've ever been to. Selection is immaculate and the place is riddled with hidden gems. David is extremely personable and helpful, and has a vast wealth of knowledge. If your problem with this store is the lack of organization you are an absolute FOOL, go check it out and don't be afraid to rummage through some things.

This book store is the most wonderful book store that I have ever had the privilege to visit. From the moment you enter there is a bit of nostalgia. If I had a bed in the middle of it and a small kitchenette....I would never ever leave. I will definitely return. For the reviewers that spoke negatively about how the books were positioned, u don't love books enough because if u did u would recognize that it is a wonderful experience and it's obvious that the owner really loves books. This was the perfect end to a very awful day. Thank you for that...13 books later...and he discounted the books that I purchased. It was an incredible experience. I will be back, especially on really rotten days when I need a pick-me-up.

We happened to stumble upon this book shop on the way to have lunch. We decided to stop in and we were so happy we did.
This place feels like a bookstore you see in the movies. There are so many to hunt for. Lots of isles to get lost in. Even our kids loved being in there. We had to drag our teenager out of there after over an hour. We all found something we wanted. The amount of old/vintage books made my heart so happy.
We can't wait to go back to visit. If you love books this is the place for you.

Steels is a Kansas City Treasure. If you're looking for reformed theology or any christian books the owner has extensive knowledge.
There are tons and tons of books to look through, be warned it can have lots of dust and some spiders. But such a fun thing!

Just an awesome experience. The shop owner gave my son a couple free books as we were leaving, just for good measure. It's quite the store to say the least.

I spent $200 at this place and found some really amazing reads. Definitely going back.. I do not want to give to much of a great rating, I want to keep this place to myself! 😂 but seriously, if you like to read, give this place a look!!!

If you're a bibliophile, you will LOVE this place. First time going here, it may take you an extra second or two to find the door; Its kind of hidden. Already fun! When you get inside, you will see books EVERYWHERE... Its so amazing!

For the most part, the books are categorized. But there are also tons of books just stacked wherever there is room to spare. This place definitely has a lot of great books. Then you get to the last room before you've come full-circle.

This room has REALLY old books in it. 1700s at least. Its just neat even being in there. The whole place is just exactly how you'd imagine a fun, cozy old bookstore would be, cobwebs and dust included.

If you're more of a barnes and noble book store shopper, this one may not be for you. The prices here are comparable to what you'd find on Ebay, maybe a little less. If you love treasure hunting and books, this will become your new favorite shop in Kansas City!
