Another great experience at The Portage House. It’s a quaint, well-appointed spot with a nice view of the river. We’ve eaten here on both sides of the ownership transition and it’s still excellent. It was a dreary evening outside but tasty inside. We started with the brussell sprouts (a veg I’ll admit I was traumatized by as a child) and they were rich, a little sweet, and delicious. My wife had the Strip and fries and I had the duck with greens and roasted potatoes. Both were prepared with attention to detail. Finished with the house made Nutella mousse, free since it was a birthday. No leftovers on this night. Service was impeccable. Mitch did a fine job and was very knowledgeable of menu. He was attentive but not hovering. Host was gracious and seated us at a nice upstairs window since the weather didn’t allow dining on the patio. Thanks PH for a wonderful birthday dinner for my bride.

I had the Flat Iron Steak and my husband ordered the Duck. Plus, we got the Truffle Fries as an appetizer & Créme Bruleé for dessert. Very tasty!

What a gem! Fantastic restaurant on the river with breathtaking views. It is a beautifully restored home with a quaint dining area and full bar. Food was first class. Got the Brussel sprouts and goat cheese appetizers and pulled pork sandwich. A must see if visiting the area!

This is a gem of Jeffersonville! Sweet old historic home converted into a charming little restaurant. The warm goat cheese dip with pretzel bread is worth the trip alone.

Great service, great views, and great food! Our party had the lavender lemonade, goat cheese and pita, fried chicken, and fried catfish and everything was executed PERFECTLY.

This place is a hidden gem!! We had the shrimp and grits which were amazing, and the seared duck breast which was heavenly. Beware though that the duck has a soy peanuts sauce which is very salty. I loved it but it may be too salty for some. We were told their short ribs are usually their top seller. The service was great, the atmosphere was cozy and the view onto the water was gorgeous! We will definitely be back!

Went because of a recommendation from a coworker. I was not disappointed. The BlackBerry Gin Sling was amazing. We order several appetizers and loved them all. The goat cheese and hush puppies were some of the best I've had. I ordered the hot sauce marinated fried chicken. It had the perfect crisp to it and seasoned expertly. The kale that came with it was also perfect.
We ordered dessert and they were a bit disappointing. I would highly recommend this place, just go somewhere else for dessert.

We ate at the portage house in Jeff tonight. Google says they are take out only but they are open for dine in as well.

I had the salmon and my fiancé had the Greek meatloaf. They were both served with mashed potatoes. We ate too quickly for pictures

What a wonderful local spot. For a $50 meal it was the best I’ve had in a while. Beth, the server was very sweet and helpful!

The food hot every note, the sauce is perfect with the potatoes. We are so excited to be able to support this local restaurant!

As a party of five, all of our food was amazing! We had the porkchop, catfish, brazed short ribs, and shrimp and grits. We also had the goat cheese and the roasted broccoli apps. All were superb!.... And the best Old Fashioned I've ever had. The service was very good and and the late 1800's river front mansion setting was quaint and inviting. We will definitely be back

This place is an old house from the early nineteen-hundreds converted into a restaurant. It has a very authentic feel and look, the decorations are unique. The food is amazing the appetizers are great and if you're looking for somewhere that's not your typical chain restaurant this is the place. 10/10. This is a little gem, a must go! Also has a view of the pedestrian bridge which lights up at night. Our server was terrific answered a lot of questions, very friendly and kept our glasses full! Don't hesitate to go here and try this place out it's well worth it!

We ordered curbside due to Covid-19. Our order was hot when we picked it up. I had the Cajun pork meal with sides, it was pretty good. The pork was tender, no fat on it, the broccoli side was fairly good. My wife had the chicken sandwich and she said it was delicious, very good. I forget the name of the appetizer we had, some type of dirty rice balls, and they were ok. All in all we were very pleased. Of course, we would prefer to go in and sit down to enjoy dinner, maybe soon.

Decided to try some place that I haven't had a chance to try yet. I arrived and was greeted by the owner who then let my friend and I choose where we would like to sit, we chose to be seated outside. As we sat down our waiter Andrew was already walking to our table. The waiter gave suggestions, took our drink order then had our drinks to us in under 5 minutes. He then took our orders and asked if he could help us with anything else. Our food arrived in under 15 minutes. We both ordered the seared duck breast which I highly recommend. After we finished eating and paid, the owner came to be sure we enjoyed our visit which we did, then shook my hand and told us be safe and enjoy our night.
Best service I've had in years.
I will be returning 11/10 stars

This restaurant lives in a quaint antique home, with indoor and outdoor seating on a sizable patio, overlooking the Ohio River. The food is extremely pleasing and somewhat diverse.

Cocktails and wine are available though I opted for coffee and cool water on my first visit. I had the Griddled Meatloaf, which I'm told is one of the more popular items. After eating it I can see why -- comfort food prepared and served with a little additional style.

A very cool place. An old Victorian home converted into a quaint restaurant with great views of the Ohio river. A great cocktail list and rotating craft beers. The seasonal menu looked liked there wasn't a bad choice to be had. My dish was prepared perfectly.

Only stopped in for a couple beers and some appetizers, but let me tell you. It was delicious! We had the truffle fries, Mac and cheese pimento, and the goat cheese dip. These were some of the tastiest apps I've had anywhere. The atmosphere was really nice even though there is limited seating due to covid. I highly recommend stopping in having a couple beers and getting some amazing food. We are definitely looking forward to trying this little gem in Jeffersonville again.

Amazing house converted to restaurant.

Thunder of Louisville can perfectly enjoyed from their patio. Like the food. Do try the sampler for appetizers.

Good coffee. Great drinks. Amazing food combined with good service. Should find an excuse to go here sometime soon .😅😂😂

We were delighted with the location - it felt like we were on vacation - riverside view, pretty garden, cute patio. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was EXCELLENT! We 3 have pretty different tastes and were all very happy with our meals.
