Kelly's Tavern

Looks like a dive bar. Clientele appears all local. We came on a Wednesday night where they have the steamed shrimp special. Place was packed. People filed in quickly ate and left knowing exactly what they were doing. Our server Nancy who is a nurse by profession during the day has been working there for 46 years! She has super powers! As we were trying to figure out the place she just appeared! Our drinks and orders came quickly. Beer on tap was chilled perfectly in a frosted mug and tasted fresh. The shrimp was fantastic the mahi bites tender and the Lima bean soup full of flavor. We even were lucky enough to get soft shelled crab. The strategic mistake we made was not to inquire about fresh oysters first as we were distracted by the shrimp special. We were already full by the time we found out. Next time! We didn’t even look at the menu.

Amazing little bar resturant! Came in on a Wednesday night, during their shrimp deal, and was pleasantly greeted by staff & customers at the bar. The food was to die for and cooked extremely well. I had the shrimp deal (12 for 8$) and my friend had the fried shrimp platter. Both were excellent.
Wonderful first time experience and will be back soon!

That night it was very noisy, hard to talk to the person across the table. I've been multiple times and this had to do with the crowd that was there that night. Food and service were excellent.

Stopped in on a Saturday morning passing through Delaware on our way to NJ. This is a simple tavern, not a tourist trap or prettied-up instagram destination.
The beer is cold. The crabs were fresh, meaty, and amazing - thankfully, the bartender taught us how to crack em open and get all the meat. The fried grouper bites were crunchy and good.
If we're ever in Delaware again, we'll go back.

Great barperson and huge local 🦀 crabs! Delicious crab soups and other unique choices like Grouper Bites, Fried Green Beans and Rock Fish Bites. Good prices. Great atmosphere and local people hangout.

Excellent food, crabs were perfect as always and so we're the crab cakes.

Best monster steamed crabs in the area, excellent crab cakes, great appetizers , especially the rockfish fingers! Really good homemade soups. Reasonable prices and we love our favorite bartender/ waitress Maryann . Always our favorite place to chill , with a small town feel to it.

Kelly's is awesome. Great seafood in Port Penn, DE. Kind of honky-tonk, that's what I like. Near the scenic Delaware River. Lots of birds and marsh dwellers there. I reccomend the shrimp, steamed with crab seasoning, and their soft shell crabs are the best. Crabs when in season.

Crabs are always great lime bean soup and pineapple cake are all I ever order

I have only eaten the cheeseburger platter and lima bean soup , but both are really good. The lima bean soup is so good that it will bring you back for more.

A comforting quaint bar full of hospitality In Port Penn Loved by the locals and they are so friendly. The bartenders are the best so fun and easy going. The crab cakes are my favorite but they have great soup and other dishes.

The Kelly Tavern is great place to go get crabs or crab cakes or any seafood the people who work there are very friendly and nice 👍 and I will be going to be going back again soon.

Great people work there! Food is good and atmosphere is very relaxing great hometown place to visit and if you’re ever hungry for crabs number one place to get it! You will never get A better bunch of women then you well at Kelly’s Tavern 😀😀

Kelly's Tavern has very good food and they do a shrimp night so I believe was Wednesday night but you need to get there early the food is awesome but they sell out of a lot of dishes on their menu. The people that work there are very nice and pleasant so we say good night and how you been.

Best (dive bar that's a good thing) in town you won't see doctor or lawyer here but your ex-wife or mistress for a quicky will do. Great food, love all the local people. Don't get ripped off in Delaware City , come here you will love it......

Great crabs. I live in Colorado now and went home for holidays and my dad knew what I been craving and took me here for some crabs 🦀 and drinks, and for that memory this place will always be my go to when I go home
