Cafe Azteca

Missed this place since they moved. The food is always great and the owners are the most humble and kindest people. Our meal was great starting with a Tazo magaritta, highly recommend. I had the special Puerco and camarones in a jalepeno salsa with onion mushroom and cactus with rice and beans on the side. The coolest thing is that if we wanted any meal from the original restaurant they would make it for us. Who does that?♥ If you haven’t been you should go treat yourself it is worth it

This place is great. If I was still dating it would be my main date place. It's a restaurant with really good food, really well made drinks, AND it's a bookstore!

We had the guacamole. It was all great.

Great food, reasonably priced and friendly service. Called our order in, had a 10 minute wait upon arrival but met a very hospitable server who sat and chatted with me at the bar with me while I waited so the time flew by.

Had the yoga bowl with steak and chipotle chicken to go. Both were great. Learned they have specials every weekend so ask for those when you come.

The team made us feel very welcomed and the food was amazing. Books, Coffee, and homemade Mexican food - life is perfect!!

Food is outstanding…margaritas are excellent. Everything is fresh and delicious. If you want Mexican food, I would highly recommend this place & try the Hibiscus margarita!

Can we moved the scale rate to 10 stars???!!!!!! I can't believe how authentic and home made this food is. Hats off for the chef and owner. I hope to meet him next time. Tamales Mole in Picture.

Great food! You get nice fresh chips and salsa once you're seated. I had the pollo rosita (not spicy) which was awesome! My wife had the steak taquitos.

Passion fruit margarita was great! Loved the fresh guacamole. Fajita portions are very generous!

Food was good, chicken was juicy and fresh. Service was very good. Owner came by to mention the specials of the day. Had the apple pie burrito for desert, really tasty....

I hadn't been to Cafe Azteca for a few years and was surprised that they had moved- but found that I love the new funky setting. Parking on Essex street is a challenge but easy just around the corner on Common. The service was THE BEST. Fabulous bartender, whose name I didn't catch but wish I did, made us feel so at home. It was great that Mary, one of the owners, also came to say hi to us. The food was great (I had the yoga bowl with steak, super good) - the queso so tasty! Also, the apple dessert was AMAZING- warm, wrapped in phyllo with ice cream on the side. It was a great way to kick off the weekend. I'll be back!

I’ve only been there for breakfast but it’s really tasty, as well as reasonably priced. Lots of interesting coffee options as well. Also, love the chill, relaxed vibe of the place. If I had to add a con it would be that parking can be a challenge during weekdays.

Best Chili I've had.

Loved the atmostphere, staff was kind, and was nice to see the "all gender" inclusive bathrooms.
But seriously, amazing chili. Was sad to have to leave early and couldn't finish it all. I WILL be returning.

We love this place. It's food is great; the prices are reasonable, the specials can be creative, and the desserts are fun. Their appetizer salsa is always a family favorite. Their margaritas are very good. What puts it over the top and makes it a place we love to come back to is its artwork, which is creative, original, with wonderful poetry.

Wow, wow, wow. The most incredible food. Thank you Chef and all the staff. Please, do yourself a favor and stop here for some mind blowingly delicious Mexican and some books on your way out!

Came for lunch and had the mole chicken, which was fantastic, but completely innocent of vegetables. Good staff. Venue is a destination in itself. Love the artwork and wall murals. Looking forward to visiting again once it finds a new location.

Awesome Mexican food. We have travelled widely around Mexico & Cafe Azteca is authentic & well-prepared. Their Morita sauce is the best ever....just spicy enough, smoky and so flavorful!! Have never tasted a better sauce. Wish I had the recipe. Also....the staff is the friendliest ever!!

Just the best Mexican food within an hour driving distance, and reasonably priced. The various sauces are very flavorful, including the chocolate mole. We go about every 2 to 3 weeks. It is our favorite restaurant. Interestingly decorated.
