Sal's Pizza Pub

I know it’s called A pizza pub, but YOU HAVE TO TRY THE FISH! Hands down this is the best fish I have ever had. The places is a total dump, but it just gives it some charm. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Pizza is good, but well known fact with locals is Sals has best fish in town. (Sorry #2 Passtime Fish House in Jeffersontown, #3 Mike Linings out Cane Run and #4 Cunningham’s on Harrods Creek). I’m a self appointed fish expert, my family owned a seafood restaurant for 7 years. Trivia fact, Louisville, KY eats more cod per capita, than any city in US that is not on the Ocean.

Sal’s cooks tastier wings than any other place I’ve found in Louisville. The wings are only average size, but fried to crispy perfection. The sauce flavor of your choice (he has 6-8 varieties) is then tossed over. The result is not overpowering, but the enjoyment explodes through your taste buds for a momentary feeling of perfection. Unlike a lot of wings, the flavor does not linger for an aftertaste that conflicts with the other elements of your meal- not even the hot buffalo, my favorite, nor the garlic herb, my second choice. The pizza here is also among the cheesiest I’ve ever had.
My most recent trip to sal’s, which prompted me to leave this review, was excellent. My wife and two children joined me and we were all impressed. Don’t let the bar atmosphere fool you- there is an area that’s family friendly and the staff and patrons were exceptionally pleasant and nice. Many TVs showing all the games, but it was not loud. We will be back as a family.

Attractive female wait staff who were super nice, however, they seemed to be a little over worked and more attentive to their regulars, which is both understandable but ashamed. Their mozzarella cheese was tough and chewy and the extra toppings I requested and paid for were almost nonexistent and terribly minimal portions, especially the sausage which looks to grated/shredded!

We had the fish platter. It was very good. The fish is well cooked all white meat and an excellent crust.
The wait staff was everything you would want then to be. They helped each other out to make sure the customers were attended to. We had not been there since pre covid. I was glad to return.

Stopped in for fish sandwich and order of wings. Had read some positive reviews and was in the neighborhood. OMG I was not disappointed. Waited a little bit for the most delicious food. The fish was thick and fried to absolute perfection. The homemade tartar sauce was this side of heaven. The wings made my tongue slap my brain it was so tasty. This is a bar. But the food defies anyone's culinary taste. Server was polite and attentive. I therefore advise you go and visit Sal's. Soon. See you there.

OMG.

The best pizza I've had in a very long time! The crust is unbelievably crunchy....even after cooling off a bit! My husband shared his fish platter...a little... absolutely delicious! Cole slaw is terrific as well as the hushpuppies! Definitely coming back soon!

My husband and I visited Sals last night. Let me tell you this fish platter could possibly be the best in town. We also ordered the mozzarella sticks. They were really good. Karen was our waitress. She was great and friendly. If I could I would give the fish, Karen, and Sals 10 stars. We can,t wait to return. Susie and Mike

Best Fish Sandwich in town, easy. Hot sandwiches are good, wings are good. Beers come cold. Staff is very friendly and plenty of TVs to watch your game on.

Everything is good. Could use a few more high end ales and bourbons but they have enough to get you through the night alright. The secret about the place though is they sneakily have the best fish in town.

Nice upbeat atmosphere. The fish was outstanding. The pizza was really good. It was thin and crispy just the way I like it !

Pizza was DELICIOUS!! Fresh whole toppings not chopped up small pieces. Crust was cooked to perfection. I ordered a small I now wished I had ordered a large.

Great food and terrifically friendly service. They make their own blue cheese dressing and tartar sauce. Both are outstanding.

Large portions of delicious fish! Excellent service, friendly atmosphere. No waiting for a table.

Haven't had a bad taste yet! Good for family on one side and sitting for a drink on the other with lots of tv's for sports throughout the day. Best cheese in Louisville!

this was our first visit my wife and I I had the meatball sub she had the big Sal both were delicious we will be back to try the fish that everyone is telling us to try we are neighborhood people and we have never been there before.

Sal's is always great, top of the line pizza, but their fish sandwich is my favorite. The service is always top notch.

Awesome pizza! Crust is thin and crispy. New deck outside is very nice. Waitresses are friendly and always there when you need them.

This is a great place to hangout and watch games...has a neighborhood vibe. Also, their menu offers much more than just pizza. Try the fish here, it may just be the best in town.
