One of a kind, authentic tacos, mind-blowing flavors, fresh-pressed tortillas. This is the only restaurant we’ve been to in Wisconsin which sells Tacos Rojos from Matamoros, Mexico.

This is the type of place you keep coming back to. The interior is beautiful, a little small and welcoming. Make sure to check out the bathroom if you go. The owner and the atmosphere are very inviting. If you can, take a second to strike up conversation with the owner. The food is simply stellar.

Other unique items include enfrijoladas, cochinita pibil (a type of slow-cooked pork), discada (mixed meat), and chicharron prensado (pressed pork). If you are a lover of the HEAT make sure to try their quesabirria and their birria ramen.

Can’t wait to go back and experience their other unique flavors they got to offer.

Authentic Mexican cuisine. Great menu, excellent food, great people and so fresh!! Once you eat here you’ll never go back to chain Mexican restaurant(s). Delicious!! Worth the 50 minute drive.

Homemade Everything, expect you food to be amazing! Family run, Family Owned, expect personal interactions with staff and very little wait time. Prices are excellent, just make sure not to order too much! Best Mexican I've had in the US outside large cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. Truly A hidden gem of southern Wisconsin.

This restaurant is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, A DON'T-MISS-GEM of a Mexican restaurant! Really, really worth our drive from Madison! I cannot rate this place highly enough! So good, so flavorful! And the owner and his family are wonderful - so nice and providing great conversation and service. You MUST try this excellent food.

We tried several options - house salsa (creamy red, creamy green - YUM!) and chips, Red Pork Posole, Shrimp Taco, Rice, Refried Beans, and the amazing Mega Quesabirria. The homemade corn tortillas just add to the already incredible flavors. The food is nicely spiced, not at all salty, but you know that you are eating various fresh spices, spicy peppers, etc. I could taste all the different flavors. Some may find this to be on the spicy side, but it was perfect heat to me.

My shrimp taco was overflowing with 6 or 7 *large* shrimp, topped with a chipotle creamy salsa, resting in red shredded cabbage. The tasty surprise was the browned, toasty cheese grilled onto the tortilla. What flavor! The Posole was excellent - flavorful, served with lime, shredded lettuce, radishes, and those awesome tortillas. Just beautiful!

The hit was the Quesabirria. This came on a large pizza pan, with a pizza server. Two 14-inch flour tortillas, are stuffed with melted cheese and the juiciest, most tender, BEST birria that I've tried. It was grilled to a toasty, crispy, brown, and cut into wedges like a pizza - but so much better than any pizza! Biting into a piece, the juicy meat, melty cheese, crispy tortilla - heavenly! Accompanied by cilantro and chopped onion-covered Birria consomme. This is a MUST TRY.

Based on the owner's recommendations, and samples of pintos charros that he gave us, we ordered his takeout Grilled Chicken and Ribs dinner for tomorrow's eating. All beautifully packed in a box (which the owner carried to our car): A whole, spatchcocked, marinated and grilled chicken; grilled, spiced, pork ribs; a quart of rice; a quart of the charro beans; jalapeños toreados; an entire grilled white onion; two baked potatoes topped with chorizo; and more of those tortilla treasures for $39.99.

It is now Sunday morning, and guess what we are having for breakfast? A feast! I hear so many "yummy" noises coming from the kitchen, it's crazy!

I can't wait to go back! The absolute best benefit to buying a Sam's Club membership!

Service was amazing. Family oriented establishment. The handmade tortillas make the tacos so good! Travelled 4 hours to come eat here! When I’m near by will come again! Had the taco, quesabirria. Dad had the bistec ranchero. Dad said, this is the flavor I was looking for. 😁

OMG, if you want food with FLAVOR then come here! I had the Tacos Rojas Birria...yum. The 2 salsas served with the chips were nicely spiced, which is rare! Usually salsas are just tomatoes and no spice...this was great! The artwork in the bath and on the walls is awesome. If you're near Janesville, WI it's totally worth the visit.

The food here was exceptional and authentic. We were treated to the au jus that the meat was cooked in for thirteen hours

Amazing quality of food 🙌 we got this catered to our office and couldn’t have asked for something more delicious. The tortillas were HAND MADE 🙌🙌 you can’t find that anywhere in Rock county… this is truly a special place. I also love how they give back to the community and are members of Forward Janesville

We stopped there after paintballing; when we got there the owner sat us down at the table closer to the door because we had a big party. The food was delicious, service was decently fast. And the owner was extremely nice. Next time we are in town we'll stop there again. For all newcomers... I highly recommend, you won't regret it.

This place is FIRE! My partner and I stopped here on a road trip and I’m so glad we stumbled across it. The tortillas are handmade and their salsas are incredible. We ordered the Al pastor tacos, carne tacos, and chicken flautas, and everything was delicious. The customer service is amazing! The owner was kind enough to give us some samples of their agua frescas — be sure to try the horchata because it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. We were in a rush to get back on the road, but we’re going out of our way to stop here again on the way home to try the birria. I wish we lived closer!

I decided to try this place I found on Google and wow, just wow. I don't know why it took so long for me go here. I've been to many Mexican restaurants in the surrounding area and this is by far the best. The owner and staff are hospitable and friendly. The drinks are very refreshing. I wanted good food and they didn't dissappoint! It was great! I had the cerviche tostada and the quesa birria. The tostada was fresh and light. The fish tasted freshly caught. It definitely complimented the quesa birria because that was savory and spicy. Just the way I like it! I highly recommend this place and you won't be disappointed on the quality. Will be coming back really soon! And to the owner~ I will eat a Serrano pepper next visit. 😄

Very friendly staff makes you feel like you are family and the food is always great too! This is their cubano torta it is huge!! And also got their tamales the absolute best!

I was surprised to find a taqueria in Janesville with a 4.9 star rating and 400+ reviews, so we had to try it. They have absolutely earned that reputation. Homemade tortillas, yes, I said homemade tortillas! We tried about five different menu items and shared everything. Every single thing was perfect, not good, not great, PERFECT. The lengua quesadilla was maybe the single best Mexican dish I’ve ever eaten. The crispy fried outside of the homemade corn base, while still light and fluffy inside, filled with perfectly cooked tongue, cheese, tomatoes and onions, oh my god. The base of each different type of dish is made from scratch from ground corn, and makes all the difference in the flavor. Anyone who knows food knows that the simple things done from scratch(bread, noodles, tortillas), makes the difference between something being good and something being great. This food is great. Also the salsas on the table, and the Horchata were phenomenal! We will drive the 45 minutes from home just to eat here, time and again now that we’ve discovered this gem. Oh, and the owner is super nice and his family works really hard. Skip the chain restaurants and try this, trust me.

Ate here for the first time this week with a friend. The service was friendly and efficient, we loved chatting with and feeling welcomed by who I presume is the owner. The food was exceptional, I had the shrimp tacos and chicken tacos and am already looking forward to stopping again. A little gem on the south side for sure!

What an incredible experience! I'd have to say this is the best authentic Mexican food I've ever had HANDS DOWN! The meat is high quality, everything is fresh and beautifully plated. The owner truly cares about your experience and you can tell he puts alot of love into what he makes. Also, the food is reasonably priced for the high quality.. their handmade tortillas were absolutely incredible!! I highly reccomend this restaurant to ANYONE! Absolutely excellent and authentic. We have enjoyed the tacos, sopes, gorditas, taco rojos, tostadas..pretty much everything. The homemade tortillas are stellar. They are beyond kind and patiently answer all questions unlike some restaurants where you feel you are a bother. We have always done take out and they include everything you need. Today tried the mega quesabirria and omw it was so delicious. The size of a large pizza with 4 large sides of consome.. Definitely has heat but the excellent flavorful heat not the hot just for sake of hot. Horchata cooled the fire perfectly. Also had beef nachos and this also was huge and so good. The chips were layered with our choice of meat (pork), cheese, jalapenos, onions and salsa so every bite was perfect. Do not miss this, it is the best of the Southside!

Very authentic and everything was fresh. I love privately owned businesses and this one was a great experience. The owner came to take our order and shared with us 3different flavors of meats to try. It is obvious he is passionate about his cooking and put much care into preparing it. I would highly recommend you come in to eat and feel the warmth of the atmosphere and family love put into the whole experience!!!

Been wanting to try for awhile,(opened June 5th) and we've been missing out.
When we walked in we were greeted by the owner Fortunato.
We were seated immediately and drink order was taken promptly.
The menu is simple, the dishes are not drowned in sauces or queso-this is authentic, folks.

Our group sampled the tamales, tacos, enchiladas, and burrito.
Pork tamale with red sauce was smoky and wonderful(my fav), the chicken was shredded and light, steak taco was flavorful(homemade tortilla, lots of cilantro and cheese), burrito was great and chicken enchiladas were stacked with lettuce, sour cream, and cheese.
The owner brought out a sampler plate with something he called "pressed pork". It's kind of between a shredded and chopped pork, with a seasoning that was unreal. It's available in every dish, that will be my choice on our next visit.

Cool to find a joint where the owner cares about the food as much as you do. I'm very impressed.

For those concerned about Covid protocols, the staff were wearing masks, the tables were distanced (there are only 4 of them, so carry out is a great option), the menus-and the entire place was spotless.
Can't wait to go back.

It was our first time here and the food was amazing! They have a basic short menu but, I believe it is cause they just opened in June (?). The owner came out to meet/greet, took our order, made sure everything was up to par. They offer tacos, burritos, enchiladas, flautas and a few other things. They have Horchata, aquas frescas, bottled coke, etc. I recommend if you are looking for authentic Mexican food, go here!

Amazing food! The tortillas are made fresh daily and everything we have tried has been delicious! The owner is super friendly and he takes pride in his food and business. They will not disappoint!
