The owner of complete painting & carpentry...James Richardson! Did an amazing job on a basement that I wanted completely finished, I had three quotes on the price and James was in the middle but after reading reviews and research I decided to let him take care of the job and I am great full that I did because he did an amazing job. I had him frame me two bedrooms a bathroom a gym and a study area and his work was amazing did a awesome job and was done on time! Also very friendly and kept a clean work environment the entire time of the job being done I would recommend him to anyone he did such a great job that I decided to have him finish off and paint the entire basement as well! And that exceeded my expectations awesome job James thanks again for the awesome work!

I recommend going with Complete Painting and will certainly hire them again in the future. I worked directly with the owner Jim Richardson who came out to my house for a free estimate. I was impressed from the start with Mr. Richardson's expertise and professionalism. He completed a difficult kitchen remodel in my home and not only did my final bill stay on budget, but his team completed the job on time. My family and I love our new kitchen. His recommendations for the redesign and the cabinet stain color resulted in our kitchen looking much better than we expected. The functionality to final appearance was top notch. Thank you again Mr. Richardson and I look forward to seeing you and your crew again this summer when we tackle the exterior challenges we want to complete.

Last fall, I had James Richardson and his crew at Complete Painting finish a project that involved performing some home repairs from water damage I experienced due to my roof leaking unknowingly. James was professional and very knowledgeable. He came out and gave a free quotation. From the start, James was very communicative throughout the project and when the project finished on time and on budget, my family and I were very happy with the results. The remodel of our family room and rebuild of our deck that both were necessary with the repairs will be enjoyed by my family for years to come. A big thank you to James and his crew at Complete Painting and we will certainly use his services again for any upcoming projects that we have.

I would highly recommend Complete Painting and Carpentry. The owner came out and gave me a free estimate and I had extensive water damage. The damage was much worse than expected and the owner worked with me to keep my final bill from killing my pocketbook. Even with the extra damage found, his crew completed my house to the day stated in my contract. I am so thankful I chose Complete Painting and Carpentry for this job with so many dishonest contractors out there, I was treated with respect and my house looks beautiful. James Richardson was very professional and hard-working. I’ve had work done by Complete Painting for over 5 years. He has always gone above and beyond my expectations. Thank you for all your hard work!!!

James Richardson is the owner of Complete Painting & Carpentry in Milwaukee. I hired his company to replace the side door of my garage and rebuild the frame. It had been broken into and was completely trashed. He sent his employee, Rafael, to complete the work. Rafael did an absolutely spectacular job! The entire frame (and then some) was rebuilt in a highly professional manner. The replacement door is much better than anything that had been previously on there. The price he charged was completely fair and reasonable, particularly given the supply-chain issues we are now experiencing. I couldn't be more pleased! If you are in need of carpentry work, I highly recommend contacting Complete Painting & Carpentry.

This company did a great job! I had met with several contractors and decided to go with this one because of their long list of positive references. They did a kitchen and bathroom remodel for me and I couldn’t be happier. I have to say I was also a little swayed by sharing the same last name as the owner ;)

I'd suggest extreme caution here. I could live with some problems with quality in pics below, but we were double charged and have spent 3 months now with empty promises to return the $2,000+ owed to us. There is no dispute that it is owed, but there has been $250 returned on $2,000+ with lots of texts and promises

3/23/2023 UPDATE: Crazy or not, I stand by my review. If you like, I can re-send you the video of the drip-turned-stream that resulted from your plumber’s shoddy work. Funny how you were so nice until I declined your invitation to get drinks.

If you work with Complete Painting & Carpentry, get project details in writing. They do great exterior work… Not so great with interior handyman stuff.

Owner, James Richardson, agreed to do garage siding AND handyman stuff for a set price. We did an initial walk through, I set expectations, He called me the next day with the price quote. I agreed. I was happy for the help because my work is really busy lately. All good, right? WELL…

HANDYMAN TASK #1: Replace dryer vent.
Original scope = Solid wall pipe w/elbows per code.
Actual = Taped over hole in existing vent.

HANDYMAN TASK #2: Remove old caulk and apply new caulk around tub.
Original scope = REMOVE and re-apply.
Actual = Thin bead over top of old. Gaps in new caulk. Dark spots from old caulk showing through. New caulk already split away from surfaces one day later.

HANDYMAN TASK #3: Fix leaky bathroom faucet.
Original scope = Given unknowns, this fix might require more $ for parts, labor. Fair.
Actual = Owner sent his “plumber” brother. Leak is worse now. New supply line installed, but no plumber’s tape.

GARAGE SIDING: Awesome job! But the owner told me that I got a “deal” on siding, so I should be happy. The owner only informed me of this “deal” after I complained about the handyman stuff. I told him that I’m not paying full price if he’s not going to finish. At which point, he accused me of “ripping him off.” I explained that while I understand the siding was a bigger effort, if he doesn’t finish as agreed, I have to do the rest myself and/or find and PAY someone else. I suggested subtracting a SMALL amount from original price to makeup for outstanding issues. He ranted stating, “this is what [he] gets for being nice,” and proceeded to explain that he mainly does exteriors. Wait. WHAAAT??? Then why accept the small interior jobs in the first place?

Other headaches… LOTS of rescheduling. Workers would park in driveway, blocking tenant vehicles in garage. Plumber propped doors open so he could go to hardware store and get back in, didn’t say anything to tenants, no regard for their toddler running around… And when I told owner this… he said, “what, don’t your tenants know how to close a door?”

After all of this runaround, owner had the nerve to tell me that my way is “overkill” and “no one” does dryer vent and caulking that way. Irrelevant. I was clear on my expectations from the start. Code is clear on the type of pipe for dryer vent. Everybody knows you don’t caulk over discolored caulk.

Any contractor that commits, then tries to bully customer into cutting corners = RUN!

James eventually apologized, which I appreciate. I considered his offer to “make it right,” meaning let him finish the handyman tasks. But I decided to go the DIY route. I paid James full price as he originally quoted. Well worth it to move forward without the stress of this experience.

But the garage siding looks great!

Did not come close to living up to my expectations. Here is how thing went from my perspective . Crew did not show up every day. Used my personal drop cloths, paint brush, and ladders from my garage with out permission , and just tossed my painting cloths in the corner that where sitting on top of the clothes. After I confronted the owner he bought me a roller, not the same size roller but a new roller. Then after that they used a chop saw with out permission ( I said they could use it after they started to use it so the job could keep moving. As long as they replaced the blade ) and then I had a brand new in the package file that they ripped open and used. They Painted window frames ( old school type ) and now some of them won’t go back in. They painted glass on the windows that is still there. They painted over the door bell. And they painted a rotted hand railing. Would not use again.

James Richardson no longer lives at this address. He was evicted in November and moved out. He left the house in very poor condition. Pipes were leaking and ceilings were damaged. There were holes in the roof. It was filthy and piles of junk all over the house, garage, and yard.
