Heckel's Family Restaurant

Whenever we pass through Chippewa Falls, we always stop for some food as it is the halfway mark for us. Unfortunately, we always stop at Culver's. This time, we decided to search for a place we can relax inside and have better and more options. We found it in Heckel's!!!

It is only a couple minutes further down the road and the staff was so friendly. Heckel's is a typical American Family diner serving the basic American fare along with the comfort foods your grandmother would approve of.

Walking in, we were greeted with a wall displaying all of the week's specials, from Creamy Chicken and Biscuits to Beef Tips to Meatballs over Mashed potatoes. Being that we were stopping in on a Monday, the special was Cream Chicken over Biscuits, which my bride and I both ordered. The cream chicken was thicker than a pot pie filling as it was hearty with large chunks of vegetables and chicken. We had a choice of sides. I chose the hash browns as I was torn between having a breakfast or lunch. My bride chose homemade mashed potatoes with gravy.

Once finished, our very friendly, capable, server asked if we were thinking of dessert, such as pie! My response was "I wasn't when I came in but now I am." I ordered the lemon meringue pie. It was soooo good. My bride wanted a bite or two. She took more. This is the pinnacle of American Family Restaurants - Heckel's. If they don't offer pie, they ain't family!

Overall, I am upset that we never looked until now for an alternative to our usual passing-through rest stop. Heckel's should have their name on the signs approaching the Exits to indicate they are a reason to stop. I know we will be stopping at Heckel's from now on. I want to try the Beef Tips.

I was actually pleasantly surprised the food was still good. I believe there was only one cook and one waitress but we actually didn’t wait long for food. I got the meatloaf which was good. And I love the breadsticks. They have a slight crisp outside and then chewy and warm inside. The potatoes were good, salad was fresh and very large. The boyfriend got a hamburger which was good also. I haven’t been to heckles in probably over 10 years because I assumed it went downhill and maybe it wasn’t good anymore but I was wrong. It may be a typical diner but food was actually good. I was surprised at the amount of daily specials too that were offered. It was really good and I’m sorry I doubted it! I used to go to heckles all the time. It was our after bar routine back when you could smoke in there. I’m not sure why I haven’t come in since. I will be coming more often! Also very clean inside still. I watch too many movies and thought this would be a run down and dirty place now. Certainly was not. Still has the same old decor but that don’t change how the food tasted. Yum!

We really enjoyed our meal here. ;-) Our food was good, the prices fair and the service (by Brooke) excellent. Neat, clean, pleasant... checked all of our boxes. Will definitely stop here again.

Great hamburger and fries. Very friendly server. I recommend eating here.

One of the best dinners we've had at Heckles tonight! Mariah was such an amazing waitress and so very, very friendly! Thank you for such an enjoyable evening and delicious homemade food!

Found this nice place to go out to eat. Started out with the cheese curds which we're amazing. Had the meatloaf which was perfect and perfectly cooked. My grandma had the corned beef skillet which she liked. The service was excellent! (Mikalya) Dessert was delicious! Definitely a do over.

This is one of my FAVORITE spots to get good food locally. They have menus under glass on the tables for safety during these uncertain times. They request masks but DO NOT require them. Which I really appreciate. The food is amazing. I had the corned beef skillet and was very pleased. The menu is diverse and affordable. It's a great spot for parties, dates, or family dinner. 5 out of 5

I had the southwest chicken sandwich and it had great flavor, fresh onions and veggies, and cooked right. I'll be back for sure.

Dinner was delicious like always. Been here a few times when we are in Wisconsin always good eats.

Been there twice now and each time has been fantastic. I got the 1/2 chicken Sunday lunch and I don't think y'all understand. I'm from Georgia and Heckel's fried chicken is amaaaaazing. So tasty! And that chicken gravy? 👌 The restaurant was clean, service was fast and great. A perfect visit. I'm glad to have found another Sunday brunch spot!

It was a great, clean atmosphere with a novel idea for menus with COVID-19. I loved the food, my steak was exactly as requested, the shrimp were of good size
And the appetizer plate was almost good enough as a meal on it's own. Am definitely coming back as often as I can convince the rest of my party.

My personal favorite place to eat. I try to schedule as many sit downs here as I can. The staff are nice, food is good, coffee is ready, and price is right. Love this place!

Delicious food, affordable prices & great service. Came in 11/24 & had the sweetest waitress. She was younger, blonde hair, & has a 3 month old daughter. She was great. We left saying, we can't wait to come back again!

Waitress was exceptionally attentive and excellent at her job! Nice friendly atmosphere! Only open from Thursday to Sunday now due to staff shortages!

The staff is always friendly here. The food is hot and you get alot of it, if you go away hungry that's your fault. Great desert and malts in different flavors and so much to offer every appetite. Try it for yourself it has never disappointed us!

If you’re in the mood for breakfast food, anytime, this is one of of the best places to go in the area. This has all-day breakfast Sometimes the business is slow and sometimes it’s fast, if you knew anything about costumer service is that they are always trying to catch up and do their best so if your food is cold etc JUST TELL THEM TO RE-HEAT IT or MAKE A NEW ONE, simple as that. No need to start hating over food. Meet them half way, anywhere you go 😁

Dinner was fantastic. We had a great time and good service. Portions were healthy and prices reasonable. Our bill for 3 adults and 3 kids was $53 plus tip. Glad we got to enjoy this local treat!

For years I have gone to Heckles, it really is a local hidden gem. The servers are always wonderful and friendly, food always comes relatively quick, always made exactly how I want it to be made.

We were greeted and seated right away. Wr were waiting on someone, so our waiter brought our drinks out, and checked back with us periodically until we were ready to order. The food was good, i had a mushroom n swiss burger with no bun and 2 eggs over easy. Coleslaw is amazing!! the waiter was attentive, and responsive. Nice atmosphere, I would visit again.

My Mom and I love to come here and to catch up on news about family and neighbors. The servers here have the skills to know when to come by and when to keep back. The restaurant is clean and the food is always good and their portion size is perfect for me.
