Alchemist has cast a spell on me! This enchanting spot has become my go-to destination. My husband and I cherish our dates here. The name 'Alchemist' is a perfect fit, as their expertly crafted drinks are nothing short of magical. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about every aspect of the menu, making each visit a true delight. I eagerly anticipate their seasonal menu changes and can't wait to return. See you guys soon!

Found this little spot by accident. I'll address the food first. We only had the raw oysters, and I would say they were average. Tequila selection is one of the best in the area. They even have a few that are hard to find. The bartenders were great and had good knowledge of the drinks and liquor that they offer. I loved the atmosphere overall, and the bar is beautiful. Will definitely return to try some more food and indulge in more great Tequila.

Definitely must try in the suburbs , I highly recommend the octopus which is cooked for 6 hours sous vide , then marinated for about 12 hrs I think finally grilled and top with a tomato sauce that is to die for , best octopus dish I tried in 8 different countries !

Really get some drinks just tell your waiter how you feel and they will get you a drink 😉 .

The oysters 🦪 again exceptionally fresh , super good and I love the drop jars they give you to put sauce on your oysters . Must come!

This place is amazing! It was my first time going to a bar in Geneva, and I was not disappointed. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. It’s classy but feels contemporary and inviting. The staff are super welcoming. They’ll answer any questions you have, and are great to have a chat with. And last but certainly not least, the cocktails there are amazing. They’re all so tasty and unique, I loved getting to try them out. Would go there again in a heartbeat.

Came here on a Sunday night for the first time. We were delighted to see the "oysters for $1.50 all day" sign upon our approach. Yes, please! Josh gave us the drink menu run down. You will want one of each, but I tried two on this visit. The pink one is Familiar Places and the other is Confucius' Final Cocktail. Yes, the cookie gets a little soggy on one side, but it is soaked in a lovely alcohol concoction. No complaints. See photos.
The menu is small plates. After the oysters, we had the fried white anchovies, grilled octopus (our test for any restaurant offering it and they passed with flying colors), croquettes - spanish style, and a small charcuterie plate. All fresh, and amazing. Loved the accompanying sauces for each dish.
They will have outdoor seating for summer which is perfect. The seating indoors is intimate, but inviting and we never felt rushed. A great date night spot or a stop for a true, craft cocktail.
The owner, Devin, was there and is also hands-on to take a drink order or answer questions. The kitchen staff prepares the food quickly, but it's obvious that they take care and pride in their preparation and service.
We will back for sure!

Nick was so kind and sweet to my group! And his recommendation about drinks were spot on! I will definitely be making my way back there ! The cocktails are unique and so delishious !

The Threads of Gold was a bit bitter. The give us Warheads not peace was pretty sugary and the mommy's cherry coke was thick and syrupy. Overall good drinks, but definbeyond craft and also a little obscure. If you like put of the regular, this is most definitely your spot.

Had awesome waiter named Josh (Aka) Yoshi we had a few small plates that were amazing! Atmosphere was soothing and the ambiance was great. Definitely try this place for a nice night capper like we did. You wont be disappointed!

Alchemist is an up-and-coming craft cocktail bar with eclectic accompaniment food choices. I am a mixologist, and the mixologists at Alchemist are the real deal. It will be hard-pressed to find such knowledgeable mixologists anywhere in a place like Geneva.

For food recommendations, Katherine and I recommend the Panzella steak salad and the Ahi Tuna Crudo.

Thankfully, as the name suggests, alchemist has a fine repertoire of finer spirits.

If there is a craft cocktail not on the menu, the talented, mixologists are equipped and ready to make a drink that’s nuanced to your liking.

This place surprised me so much, in the best, love the tapas style food, it was amazing, and love intimate lit atmosphere feels fun but like speak easy. All the drinks are great, and Devin one of the owners who was there is always so hospitable and friendly, really pays attention to detail. We will be back for more double dates.

We had the absolute BEST Sunday lunch at this spot. Very cozy. Informative and kind staff, beautiful indoor spot and bar but even better patio. Best way to spend a Sunday with the dog!

My friends and I were walking around looking for an outdoor place to sit with some friends. We first went to a place called preservation and the woman working there was super rude and had an attitude when we asked about seating… a little discouraged we went around looking for other places to go and most of the time no one acknowledged us or said anything. Then we walked into Alchemist and they immediately greeted us and were super accommodating when we mentioned we would have a big group with us. They were super friendly and immediately put us back in a good mood, Devin communicated really well and was super friendly and again accommodating! Nice to see some places still have good customer service. I didn’t try the food so couldn’t rate that but customer service 10/10

Great craft cocktails and great food. Oysters were fresh and tasty. Service was excellent. Will definitely recommend and will return soon.

As part of the design team to make this place what it is, I will refrain from commenting on the ambiance (because I am biased) and instead focus on the food, drinks and service.

All of it was fantastic! I cannot say enough great things about our experience. The food was so amazing I would request it for my last meal. The drinks are cleverly thought out and delicious. Our server was amazingly attentive and so knowledgeable of the menu and drinks.

Finally, the owners are beyond fantastic to collaborate with. They are so welcoming and warm to everyone who came in. Bottom line: you should experience this place!

Finger food was simple, tasty & beautifully presented. Yummy fried shrimp! Fresh oysters, though rather small in size.
Will revisit with friends when in the area again.

We have needed a swanky cocktail bar in Geneva for a long time. Finally!

If you’re familiar with Walrus room, you will recognize the similarities as these two sister restaurants share the same owners and similar inspiration. But there’s enough difference here to make the whole place feel unique and novel - that same careful approach to ingredients and presentation but with a slightly more classic and jazzy feel. The moody atmosphere and fun lighting adds the perfect ambiance and the drinks feel ethereal, lively and just adventurous enough to make you feel like trying something.

The small plate selection is well rounded and offers a good choice of ingredients. Try the curry, trust me. And the service is spot on with a well trained staff eager to find you something you’ll love. If I sound like a raving fan, it’s because I am.

One word to describe The Alchemist in Geneva...Fantastic!!

Before I get into the details of that I'd like to address a negative review that was submitted 3 days ago. Heidi Smith gave The Alchemist a 1- review referencing a family with "yelling children" that quote "ruined their anniversary dinner". That family with "yelling children" is me, my husband and my children who were neither yelling nor unruly. We were enjoying a family night out to celebrate national pickle day at a place that we love for reasons I will explain shortly. Please don't let reviews from the Heidi's of the world who are miserable (I think her husband was too) and don't know the concept of what good food or drink is , deter you from having an amazing experience at The Alchemist. Between her reviews of The Dollar Tree and All Star Pet Grooming, you can get a sense of the lack in taste this individual has. But I digress. Let's get back to more important matters.

My husband and I love The Alchemist! Every person we've introduced to the Alchemist loves it as well.
Even more than that, we love the staff! Nick, Patrick, Josh, Yoshi (Josh), Gabe, Grace, Devin, Rachel and Alejandro are wonderful! They have a passion for their craft and it shows. They curate a complex, interesting cocktail menu that rotates seasonally and is on-par, if not better than some of the best cocktail bars in Chicago. They, in my opinion, are one of the best cocktail bars/restaurants in the Chicago-land area. Their knowledge of unique spirits and dedication to service, hospitality and creating an unforgettable experience is second to none. Their food menu is also impressive, boasting rotating specials, seasonal items and array of large and small plates to satisfy any palate. We also love the fact that they are both adult and kid friendly which fits into the overall vibe of Geneva as whole (sorry, not sorry, Heidi). I cannot say enough good things about this place. It has become our new favorite place, our home away from home. If you haven't checked them out yet, you are missing out! Get over to The Alchemist, enjoy a delicious cocktail, grab a bite to eat and say hi to the team!
