Lou's Restaurant & Bakery

This place is the cutest little diner in Hanover. It’s like a blast from the past with all the pics and booths and low bar seats. The food was delicious (chicken and waffles!!) and service was great (considering Sunday brunch rush). The pies that we came to pick up, unfortunately, were just average tasting. We’ll def be back to try the other things on the menu.

1st visit was this Summer, sat outside, and ate the amazing chicken and waffles and hand a truly fantastic bakery muffin (grilled with butter!) So good we had to come back again this winter! Still just as tasty and the same great experience, sat at the bar to skip the brunch lineup.

A lovely small town diner that was extremely busy. The food came out fresh and properly cooked considering.

I ordered the Steakhouse bowl and everything tasted great. Fresh meat and quinoa hash base. The flavors all came together great. Would definitely recommend the bowl.

Lou's is a special diner in Hanover. Sure they have the usual breakfast standards, but the quality here is way above average. Be prepared for a line unless you go after the morning rush!

We went during the breakfast rush and although we got seats right away, the food took a long time to arrive. The waitress offered us complimentary donuts or muffins while we waited. Of course my husband took her up on that and he got an enormous maple bacon donut. Our breakfast was hot and delicious. 10 stars.

It’s the best. I expected the diner food I remembered - which was there, but there were also a ton of other really delicious options like an Açaí bowl and the best turkey sandwich I’d had in forever. The experience and ambiance is great, the staff are SO kind (even when I bring my kids in), and everything about Lou’s these days is just awesome.

Quintessential American diner experience. Great staff, excellent coffee and all the usual suspects on the menu. As must stop visit in Hanover. Very popular - so often a line during busy times.

I came here with a Group of 9 people two days in a row, thats how good this place is. We all came from different states and
we all felt this place is amazing! The staff were really nice and friendly. You will love everything on the menu. I had biscuits n gravy the first visit and the 2nd visit. Four other people wanted to try it after I gave high praises and they all loved it too. 😁👌 And the Key Lime pie was the best I ever had!... This place deserves national TV recognition! A New England Top 10 break/lunch dive-in for sure!

Sit at the BAR! You get the full experience plus more. The french cruller grench toast is a must,, bacon nice and crispy and the service is outstanding. What a gem we found. Make sure you take a pastry to go! Lets Go!!

Great food and amazing servers. My 3 years old the whole glass of water. They were so busy yet didn't seema but annoyed. Will visit again when I'm in the area.

In my view, the best place to have breakfast or brunch in the area. The tofu scramble is excellent and flavorful. The acai bowl is a large portion with nice sides.
The cakes are best I've tried. Rich, not overly sweet, and decent portion.

It’s a popular diner with a storied history that has been covered in the Wall Street Journal. It has passed through multiple owners and they’ve maintained a tradition of excellence while adapting to modern demands of mobile takeout orders.

Quick service and turn around time. It is an amazing operation to prepare meals efficiently in the small space of this diner. It’s pricey. It’s diner food but with healthy and vegetarian options.

An iconic and classic staple in Hanover. I've been visiting for years and I've never had a bad experience. I've always gone for breakfast or brunch; there can sometimes be a wait, but it's worth it.

Wonderful breakfast/brunch place which is famous with the Hanover locals. Amazing fare, great wait staff, and a cozy dining atmosphere. Didn't get any this time, but the pies looked "to die for."

Excellent food. Great service. So many choices! Look at the menu before you go. Definitely will return on all trips to Dartmouth! Just remember if you go at a” normal” eating time, there WILL be a wait.

So happy to be back at Lou’s. Arrived just after 10:30am on a Sunday. Was told there would be a 45 minute wait, but it was actually 37 minutes. 👍🏻
Food delicious as always and decent portions to fill you up. I tried the Cowboy Bowl. Very good. Both my companions had the brisket hash. Both finished everything on their plates. Service was great - thank you, Andrew. Attentive and kept us informed of when our meal would be ready. Kept our drinks topped. Love Lou’s!
By the way, tables started opening up around noon. No waiting!

I have been twice and the food is good. The pancakes and the maples syrup was excellent

Had breakfast here on 5 of the last 10 days during two visits. I always got an omelette, home fries, sourdough toast, and lots of coffee. There’s just something about Lou’s. The staff is outstanding, the food’s always delicious, and the atmosphere is a throwback to a simpler time that is hard to find anymore. I love Lou’s and always look forward to my next visit.

We will go out of our way to come to Lou’s several times a year. Food, service & staff are always excellent. The atmosphere brings you back to simpler times where everyone is happy.
All that really needs to be said is Lou is like you, he enjoys good food too.

Great place for breakfast all day. It is always crowded, but short waiting times. Excellent ice tea.

Cute dinner with friendly staff. Even with their current kitchen renovations the food is still good and the atmosphere is still cozy. Plus they have great gluten free muffins from the bakery!
