I recently purchased two saddles from Trumbull Mountain Tack, a Black Country and Rubicon. I worked with both Rich and Jay. They were so accommodating and helpful. Answering my calls on days off and meeting me at the store on short notice. Can't say enough good things about their service and saddles. My horses and I are very happy customers!

Jay (the owner) and her husband Rick are very knowledgable, responsive and helpful. Jay understood my last horse's need for a saddle with a hoop tree and flat-rails (which some saddle fitters don't understand). She always works within whatever budget I have and never tries to push anything on me. She is super-responsive. Jay helped find a perfect solution for my daughter's horse and my current horse - both with very different confirmations. I am grateful for her help and expertise!

I purchased an Adam Ellis saddle from Trumbull Mountain last year for my daughter's pony. This year, when I needed a new dressage saddle, I reached out to Jay again. Each time she made sure that the saddle fit well and she kept me up-to-date on the status of the saddle, from the time it was ordered to the moment it was shipped from England. Jay is meticulous when checking saddle fit long distance and in person.

After buying many “great bargains” on line and elsewhere, I finally bit the bullet and bought a saddle here. In the long run, I could have saved a lot of time and money going straight here! It was expertly fitted and my horse and I could not be more pleased. Definitely worth checking out!

Very patient and helpful. Worked with me to find the perfect bridle for my horse, and even let me take it home and try it before paying.

About 14 years ago I purchased 2 saddles from Trumbull Mountain and was very happy with my Black Country and Frank Baines but when trying to buy a new saddle for my young horse this time I was very disappointed in their service. I went through the trouble to make the requested tracings and send them. I never heard back from them and after leaving a message, they never returned my call. The accommodating and helpful people I originally worked with all those years ago are no longer there and I understand there is a lot of understaffing these days, but I would think a phone call is the least I should expect or if they are too busy to work with me, then refer me elsewhere. I have no ill will but just disappointment.

I'm still waiting to receive payment on my consignment saddle which was sold in January! I was assured payment had been sent but clearly it hasn't been. DO NOT use this place to sell your saddles! I too would leave 0 stars if possible. I will be contacting BBB.

Considering a consignment sale here? Instead, pour gasoline on your saddle and set it on fire. Alternatively, drive your truck over it repeatedly until it is flat enough to function as a stepping stone. Either of these will be more enjoyable than dealing with this band of thieves.
TLDR: They keep both your saddle and the money they sold it for.

Clearly having financial difficulties there are many people leaving reviews for not being paid for consignment saddles. I was paid less than I suspect my saddle sold for(seems to be another regular happening) and paid slowly after threatening legal action.

If I could leave a "0" as a rating I would. Trumbull Mountain Tack Shop, owned by Jay and Rich McGarry, owes me $1,125 for a saddle placed with and sold by them in November of 2018. It is now May of 2019, and despite repeated emails and phone calls in which Rich McGarry said he would send payment, I have received no payment.

This store would not pay me the money owed for my consigned saddle. I had to complain to the Vermont State Attorney General office before they sent me my money 7 months after saddle was sold.
