Cavanaugh's Restaurant

Nice place, beautiful ceilings relaxed atmosphere. I was welcomed in by a smiling guy and service was spotless. I had delicious potatoes skins there's a menu for lunch specials and other items are burgers and salads. I think it's indeed open only for lunch, really worthy of a visit! :)

I have lunch at Cavanaughs 1-2 times a week. I've been going there for the last 6 years. The food is outstanding. I love all of their salads but the sandwiches and soups are great too. The servers are very attentive. The location and atmosphere make it fun. It's in a turn of the century candy store. Tim, the owner/manager is friendly and makes sure your meal is enjoyed.

I have been dining at Cavanaugh's for several years. It's a restaurant with ample seating that has lovely historical architectural charm inside. The food is always great. I've never had a dish that I didn't like. The specials are always changing which gives you a nice variety to choose from. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food on your plate. The staff is always courteous and friendly. My glass never goes empty. All in all its a great place to go for a great meal.

Absolutely my most favorite chicken salad sandwich ever! I've tried to re-create this chicken salad at home, and it's just never as good. Cavanaugh's always has delicious food - my husband's grilled chicken BLT sandwich was delicious as was his fries. I just love this place!

Cheesesteak sub was delicious!! They have those hard to find real fountain cokes. That alone would take me there! The old historical building is worth experiencing. Service was outstanding. The carry out was booming when I was having lunch.

Absolutely delicious! The staff and owner are amazing and the food was to die for. So fresh and so quick.

Owner graciously answered questions about this former candy factory and shop. We were allowed a peek upstairs at the balcony seating. I had the Southwest chicken salad, and it was incredible. Nice people, nice place, good food.

Food is always great and the service is awesome!

Cavanaugh's is walking distance to my office and I have been eating lunch there for many years. I have never had a bad meal! Every day they have a handful of really good, creative, specials from which to choose. I have had most of their salads and all are really tasty and fresh. The crab and avacado salad is one of my favorites. The roasted red pepepr soup is one of my staples during the cooler months. Sandwiches are always very tasty. And, if you're lucky, they will have the chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting...fluffy and delicious! Staff is friendly and checks on you during your meal. I love the building too. They have maintained the charm of a century old building that once housed a confectionary. Wilmington is very lucky to have this gem of a restaurant.

The best food I’ve had in a long time

Always a pleasure when I come into Cavanaugh's. I recently stopped in for lunch with my coworkers and had the scallops with pesto risotto and it was absolutely amazing. My go to is the crab and avocado salad which always amazing. They are always consistent, quick, and have amazing specials. The owner and his staff are spot on with the service every time. They cater most of our trials and do a fabulous job all the time

I've been here four times with large groups from work, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is great and the menu has something for everyone. Our server was gracious and patient despite having to do so many separate checks during a busy lunch hour. I highly recommend Cavanaugh's.

You talk about a hidden gem.....this place should probably change the name to such. They have such exotic combinations, new specials everyday, and their soups are excellent. In fact, I HIGHLY suggest you ordering one to go for later. The owner walks around checking on the customers. It's just a great atmosphere!

Hadn’t been here for a ling time - had forgotten how good their food was! Had a fun lunch with friends today at Cavanaugh’s Restaurant in Wilmington! So glad Cavanaugh’s made it through the pandemic, enjoyed the winderful history lesson and the great food!! Thanks for a fun day!

I love Cavanaughs! whether I’m in Philly or Delaware my god the food is always fresh and delicious ! The chicken Cesar salad is so good an the chicken is so juice an tender! I loved when they would give out free mask during the pandemic that literally was my favorite part about getting lunch ! Can’t wait to redeem my coupon !

One of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating at. Service is great, food is phenomenal. I highly recommend the Steak and Cheese or Reuben, but everything is fantastic!
