Calvin was professional and showed empathy. He explained everything and was flexible to our requests. Everything went as planned and he followed up a couple days after the funeral just to make sure everything went ok. We appreciate his assistance though this difficult process.

My family has used this Funeral Home for 3 family members. We received excellent customer service. Great communications, all services were on time. They were very professional. My husband and myself have planned our services through them.

Calvin has taken care of services for my family for the last few years. He is affordable, professional, kind and always makes us feel comfortable during our time of need. I recommend him to all who needs services for their loved ones

Our son, A. Brian Bailey (May 2021) was entrusted to Serenity by the recommendation of Pastor Terrence Proctor and Minister JB Proctor-Mills. They assured us that Brian would be in good hands. SERENITY delivered from start to finish.
Our family has used one Funeral home for MANY years over my life-time. We took a leap and were very pleased with the outcome.

The owner called me personally to explain the arrangements and procedures of seeing my loved one. I really appreciated his compassion for our situation as well as the information he was able to provide.

Honestly if I could give it no stars I would. My brother Kelvin made his review earlier when we got back in town from Honduras, my mind is just know clearing up to write something.
Lack of communication with The Owner Calvin and staff, lack of compassion to my family and I , ethics no where to be found .
They may be alright for in town services but for out of state or out the country coordination, DONT DO IT!! Save yourself the headache and heartache.

My mothers body was a week late, they did not have the tool on the casket for body to come up, my family that came out of town for the funeral could not stay because of the date change at the last minute. I called multiple times from out the country and no answer, just a frustrating process all the way around.

So I call my friend that stay in Seattle so she could go and see what was going on, Calvin Tolbert also gave her the run around, just unprofessional. I will never recommend no one here EVER I was the primary contact.

If I could give this place a zero I would . I had to walk away from my screen a few times writing this review because of my hands shaking reliving the horrific experience provided by Funeral Director Calvin Tolbert and staff.My sister was referred to Serenity Funeral Home through a friend and we decided to go with them because it is a Black Owned Business for our Mothers wake & funeral arrangements.

When my family met him for a in person meeting he came off dismissive and peeved and for the most part cold. First words to come out his mouth was “Only two people in the office” so my sister and father went in and we waited outside. When asked how the meeting went my sister told me he started with pricing and payment options first. My brother called SFH to set up a private wake and got the same energy. Within that one phone call they reiterated the price and payment options over 20 times. Day of the private wake absolutely no one was allowed in the building, first words to come out their mouth speaking to my brother was “Come inside we need to take care of business” . After a few minutes then my family were able to come inside and see my mother.

My mother’s wishes were to be buried next to my grandmother in Honduras. The date promised by Calvin and Serenity Funeral Home was that my mother will arrive Friday the 24th of June ,Have a wake in Honduras on the 25th and her burial on the 26th. My sister was trying to get in contact with Calvin since 22nd,leaving multiple messages , no hear back just complete radio silence. My sister had to hear from the airlines first on that Friday that bodies do not fly on the weekends. Then Calvin sends an email no apologies for the lack of communication or nothing just that the body will be there on the 29th.

We had to let family members know who initially couldn’t make the trip that ended up making the trip that my mothers funeral will postponed . A lot of them had to go back home and work resulting with one aunt and uncle out her 8 siblings attending the wake and only one aunt attending the burial. We had to miss out on work to have an extended stay in Honduras because flying back and forth would be too expensive.

If Calvin Tolbert’s intensity to make sure he was paid matched the service provided , I would be writing a completely different review. His negligence and disrespect has inflicted unimaginable pain and rage to my family and I.

DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES TO SERENITY FUNERAL HOMES. I wouldn’t trust them to bury my goldfish . Calvin Tolbert and staff have ZERO hospitality. They are money-oriented disrespectful and greedy with terrible service. A couple of his reviews look fraudulent with their surface level compliments about something as serious as funeral services

STEER CLEAR

My family and I had a terrible experience with this establishment, The so called funeral director named Calvin promised the body of our mother would arrive in Honduras so she could be buried next her mother no later then June 26th.

Just to find out the our mother wouldn’t arrive until the 29th. The way we had to find out, was through the airline that was bringing her to Honduras. Within that week Calvin made 0 effort to reach out to us to tell us about this major inconvenience.

Calvin ruined a moment our whole family will never get back, between his utter lack of respect for people and his mr. krabs like greed, He should no longer have a job if he is going to conduct his business like this.

If you care about the service you get for your loved ones, please do not ever consider this garbage place called a “funeral home” ran by people who do not care. And are Money oriented.

The lack of care & communication. Robbed my aunties & uncles the opportunity to see their sister buried which they can never get back.. EVER.. I myself spent well over $2500 for a ticket to see my mother buried… just to get there & THEN hear there was a delay with the body & she wouldn’t make it when he said she would. THE LACK OF CARE is why I’ll never recommend this business. if he knew there was a delay why not communicate that? Seems like he was/is in it just for the money. Be Does not take accountability & hides from his mistakes. He Should not be in the business he is in. Extremely disappointed in him, his business, & how he serves.

My friend had a death in his family and entrusted this place to help him. Instead they completely mishandled everything and left the family most of which were coming from out of the state and country with an even deeper sense of loss. My friend and his family are the most kind and caring people and Calvin essentially wrote them off. Their entire family lost out on the opportunity to bury their loved one the way she wanted to be put to rest. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Please do not choose this place. Anywhere but here.
