Society Bakery & Tea Room

I adore this tea room. It transports me a bit to quaint restaurants in Manhattan, San Francisco and European cafés. The food is delicious and filling portions. The tea is high quality and the desserts divine. On some days they have events and it can get quite loud in one room or the other - if you're looking for quiet, maybe call ahead and ask. Also, I'm a mom and understand wanting to bring children places, but I encourage you to let this be your time away to relax without them (unless of course they are well behaved). Truly, this is an East Dallas gem.

It was a great atmosphere. We went to the bakery which is connected and had our cupcakes in. It was delicious. I also liked that I could have a conversation here. The cupcakes were delicious. We definitely got some cookies and other cupcakes to go.

When you have a little girl ask for a Taylor Swift 5th birthday (and it’s her first birthday party ever) you need to deliver. And Society knocked it out of the atmosphere. LOOK AT THIS CAKE. I gave them two pics from the Eras Tour and they said “we got this.” I figured it would be good, but this good? This cake blew everyone away. Not to mention it was totally delicious and we ate every last bit of that skirt! 😉

This was my first time visiting and I absolutely LOVED it. Atmosphere was great and the interior is decorated so perfectly. Food was amazing and highly recommended their chicken salad sandwich. Best chicken salad I have ever had. Staff was very kind and helpful. Overall had a great experience and will definitely return! They also had a beautiful private room which I think would be perfect for showers etc.

i had a great a great experience with the society bakery, i couldnt find anyone who could make a pretty cake and that i loved. I looked up vintage cakes, and they popped up. They make the cutest vintage cakes, creamy and smooth buttery icing, very sweet. the cake itself was very rich and tasty. i also asked them to add pearls, very nice touch! the environment is very clean cute and welcoming. Great service and help

Seriously the best French onion soup and Cesar salad I have had in a long time! Truly a lovely atmosphere in the Tea Room…if I could rate Society a million stars, I absolutely would!

Wow just Wow! The new Society Bakery and Tea Room not only offers the sweets I have enjoyed for 20 yrs but now Tea and lunch in the most beautiful setting. Recommend the French Onion soup with a Classic Club half sandwich. Can’t wait for my afternoon Tea reservation!!!

I absolutely adore this place!! Walking in is like walking into a speak easy to relax and unwind. But in another room, you can reserve a time to have Afternoon Tea served! The color difference in each room is a beautiful contrast of dark and light to accommodate whatever vibe you're feeling and to make sure the men folk aren't too uncomfortable haha! If that isn't enough, the bakery is amazing! From cupcakes, to cookies, cakes and more.. You can't not get something you'll love! My favorite latte is the honey lavender so far! Yum! Its like drinking wildflowers in the best way! Haha I can't help myself! The staff are all so nice and welcoming! I love it! Definitely worth every visit!! Im obsessed! 😍

Great addition to the culinary community. My wife and I had an extremely enjoyable and delicious lunch. Truly deserves a 5 start rating.

Happy this establishment exists in Lakewood! Atmosphere and vibes were 10/10 - the decor in the sun room was so elegant and playful. Great place to come with friends for a light afternoon lunch. We got the whipped feta, wine, half-baked cookies, and a few sandwiches. The burata and tomato sandwich tasted delicious and the bread was very fresh. The cinnamon tea was rich and spicy, and perfect for a cold day.

My only qualm with this tea room is that you need to reserve tea service ahead of time, which was unclear when booking directly through open table on Google. If we looked at the website beforehand we would have found the information, but it was confusing for us. You also can't order ad-hoc items, like scones, from the afternoon tea menu. Maybe you can and we showed up too late in the day, but still a little disappointing since we were looking forward to them. Overall, I think this place has potential and in a few months will be phenomenal!

I had a cake made for my daughter's 16th bday. The physical cake was a bulky version of what you see on the website but was still pretty nonetheless. The problem started with the astounding amount of icing on the cake. The layer of icing was at least an inch and a 1/4 thick on the majority and even thicker in other spots. It was SO HEAVY. We pulled the cake out of the fridge to sit for about 2 hours before we were going to light the candles and sing. To my dismay, when I opened the box ALL THE ICING HAD COLLAPSED FROM ALL AROUND THE CAKE. That was how I realized just how much icing was wrapping this actually quite small cake. My daughter was so sad that her dream cake was ruined. We tried to laugh it off and just dig in. The cake itself was ok. 😔 not trying to be a complete savage but the box Funfetti mix is better than this cake was. The 4 lbs of icing was also sub-par, not great but also not terrible. I'm just bummed for my daughter to have a crappy memory on her special day. Also wish I hadn't wasted so much money. If you order a cake from here ask for light on the icing and keep it in the fridge the entire time. I'm not really gonna blame this place for the mishap because I am sure it was in some way my fault the cake imploded. Just fair warning you anyone seeking a cake from here LESS IS MORE AND KEEP IT COLD!

🚨 FOR THOSE WANTING TO ORDER THE VINTAGE HEART CAKE 🚨 The frosting does not hold up. So disappointing. I wanted to cry! I ordered this cake for my birthday photoshoot, followed the baker's instructions to refrigerate it upon arriving home. I then transported it to the photoshoot location and when I opened the box, the frosting had fallen apart! My photographer and I tried to salvage it by pushing the frosting back onto the cake, and we managed to make it work for a few pictures, but it continued to fall apart over time. Eventually the cake was left with only frosting on top!

I ordered from Society Bakery because it was affordable ($90), but I should have chosen other bakers charging $120+ for a higher quality cake. The frosting should not have fallen apart so easily, especially in room temp. After reading another review, it's clear I'm not the only one who had their cake collapse on them.
