Belzoni's Catfish Cafe

This place is out of this world!!
I've wanted to try Belzoni's for a while, but their hours are a bit weird. No shade to them, though. I definitely respect them getting to keep the hours they want.

The food is amazing - the fries don't even need ketchup, in my opinion, and the turnip greens reminded me of my grandma's cooking. I love the cornmeal batter they put on the catfish and the fried pickles. I've never had pickles this way, and now I'm not sure I can go back.

I believe I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and he is so friendly. I love that this has a family atmosphere. They had bluesy tunes going and football on. Oh, and I noticed they have a drive-thru, which may see me more often than I'm willing to admit.

THE FOOD IS AMAZING!!! I LIVE THE GRILLED CATFISH BASKET WITH OKRA INSTEAD OF FRIES. OMG BUT THE SWEET POTATO PIE!!!🥧 I’VE LITERALLY BEEN EATING “ At least” ONE EVERYDAY. 🤣🤣

Well, I have been trying to get to this place for a while now. The hours are a bit different but I was able to get there on a Saturday. We were greeted immediately and sat with some nice conversation. I had the 2 piece catfish plate with corn and macaroni. Everything was great, catfish breading was perfect and seasoned well. Corn was excellent and the macaroni was good but not as good as everything else. My wife got okra and fries as her sides, all great and the okra is a little darker but I think that it from the breading or seasoning. Give this place a shot, very good catfish . I ATE AT THE RESTAURANT, my food was not sitting and waiting to be picked up and then delivered.(yeah let fried food sit for 30-45 minutes and review it)
Oh, I had a sweet potato pie. He told me it was better than Patty's, and it was.
I got there on Saturday when they opened and the place was almost packed when I left.

So... Mixed review but I'm still giving 5 stars. The catfish was amazing - batter was tasty, fish was cooked perfectly (no squishy fishy and no hard bits) and the pieces were a generous size. Can't really say enough food things about their fish... Nailed it! We ordered two - two piece baskets. The first one had sweet corn and fries for a side. Sweet corn was fine... Idk watery kind of. Not what I'm used to but not bad. Just not my preferred way of cooking corn. The fries tho... No no no. Over cooked like really on the verge of being burned and they were cooked in dirty oil. Such a bummer after that amazing fish. None of us could eat the fries 🥺. The second basket we got with fried okra and green beans. The green beans were great! Reminds me of soul food from back home which just warms my heart and makes my mouth water! That's exactly how I like my beans! The fried okra was ok. Would've been perfect if not for being cooked in that dirty oil. Huge bummer because that is my son's and my favorite fried veggie. The oil pooling under the okra was a let down too... Overall I give the food 3 stars but easily could've been a 5 with clean oil. So why did I give them 5 stars?! From the moment we walked thru the door I could've swore I was at my uncle's place! The guys there went out of their way to be warm and welcoming. Even stopped by the table and talked with my young son while he was stuffing green beans in his mouth. He told my son how it warmed his heart to see a little guy loving those veggies... Y'all my son thought he was Mr Cool after that and told his sisters all about that interaction 🤣🤣 The small complaints about the food pale next to the amazing service we got.

If you like catfish, consider this place your prized secret. This was our first time and the catfish is no joke, some of the best! I tried a double meal thinking one fiilet wasn't enough but these filets are way bigger than what I've had before. They were perfectly breaded, perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. My wife had a combination of sides and veggies. Great green beans, great fried okra (and I'm real picky about okra), great hush puppies, Mac and cheese was okay.

Overall it was a wonderful first experience even for take out. We can't wait to try the rest of the menu!

I have lived in the deep south and have been in search of great catfish for years, look no further Belzoni's not only delivers they exceeded all expectations. The catfish is moist, battered perfectly, not greasy, and delivered hot. The sides especially the turnip greens have such an amazing flavor and prepared without any bacon fat. This is a must place to dine.

Finally took the recommendation to try this place and I'm so happy I did. It is run by a man who taught at my elementary school and he remembered me after all these years. The service was phenomenal and the food... It was everything. The fish was big and flaky. The sides were out of this world. Make the trip, it's worth it.

Oh my word! Such yummy food and such sweet owners! This place is our new favorite. The catfish was outstanding, perfectly breaded and fried. Mac and cheese was so, well, cheesy! And it has just the right amount of kick. Fried okra is a must as well. This local eatery is owned and operated by very friendly folks who genuinely care for their guests. Do yourself a favor and check them out today!

Now this is good food! Owned and operated by really lovely people! Probably the best catfish I have had, perfect crust with corn meal and cooked perfectly. I could eat the Mac and cheese all day! Fried okra, hush puppies, turnip greens, and so many more sides. They have burgers and other things but go for the catfish, fresh and farm raised.

DELICIOUS! The best grilled catfish I’ve ever eaten! I had the chili-lime! My husband loved the fried catfish as well! The greens were outstanding! Everyone was so friendly! We will definitely be back!

Hands down all around from the service to the food amazing! Very pleased and impressed. The catfish is to die for and the coleslaw. We had fried pickles as well and they were delicious! We will be back!

The fish is huge! Got the 12 fish platter for family of 6 adults and had leftovers. You get 4 large sides. They have very hearty portions and fried pickles... The okra is good! The fries were a hit and they give you plenty of tartar and cocktail without even asking!! I'm a fan of the hush puppies!! Very nicely ran business and their logo is a cutie catfish with a cowboy hat! They have grilled catfish options as well as burgers and chicken fried tenders and loads of other options!! I forgot to try the sweet potato pie! But will be back again soon! Thanks for the service!! Very nicely done ☺

Fish was fried to perfection! It was seasoned just right, not to much and not to little. The sweet potato pie was fantastic you can tell it was made from scratch. I recommend eating here.

From the time I walked in the door until I got in my car was very pleasant. The food is very good and the sweet potato pies are um um good. Thank you for your pleasant service and hospitality.

I had the 52 chevy burger. (No BBQ Sauce) it was phenomenal. My husband had the grilled catfish sandwich. Also very very good.

After seeing Belzoni’s on social media, I’ve been wanting to try it. I happened to be in the area and stopped by for lunch. The catfish sandwich was delicious!

When I saw that onions and pickles came automatically came on the sandwich, I knew the catfish was going to be good…(in other restaurants I have to ask for onions and pickles on the sandwich and they look at me crazy).

I honestly didn’t know what to expect with the jalapeños, but I trusted them because of the onions and pickles. I ultimately ordered the sandwich with everything that came on it. The jalapeños added a different flavor that I didn’t expect, but absolutely loved! …I don’t think I’ll ever eat a catfish sandwich without jalapeños now, haha!

I will definitely be going back.

Simply, Wow! What took me so long to come here? Okra was top notch and very nostalgic. Catfish was amazing. What a gem on the West side of town. I’ll be back!!

Food was very good. It's a bit pricey five of us cost $75.
Location is small along with parking. Dining room holds about 20, limited hour's, they do call in orders for pick up, no delivery service.

The atmosphere was bluesy ,the entire staff went out of there way to accommodate the customers , my filet was unmatched I left full . I ordered chicken tenders and added a fillet. It’s small and personal the hours were different, I been trying to get there for some time, I will definitely be eating there allot.
