BEAST Southern Kitchen & BBQ

Four of us went to Beast Southern on Thursday night July 1st 2021. First time there for all of us. Everyone was impressed with the quality of the food. I got the cup of ham & beans with the corn bread and a small southern salad. It was great. Loved the ham & beans. The salad was very different with fresh dill, radishes, pork and bread crumbs. It was good as well. Large portions and good prices. Not sure where the other customers that complain about the prices go to but you get what you pay for. Friends came from south county and Waterloo and it was a great place to meet. All of the staff was friendly and attentive.

In my opinion is my favorite beast location! They are all good of course. Last time I was there and this may just the he the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever eaten .the crispy onion rings on top was an awesome touch and got tons of meat which was extremely tender and flavorful ! Beans were amazing as well! Perfect spiciness and meaty !

EVERY BEAST Craft location is AMAZING and unique to themselves. The owner and staff are ALL friendly, upbeat, and passionate about food/their jobs; you taste that in their food. Texas Chainsaw Sauce is my fave, if you're brave ask for Leatherface.

Last time, I tried the Creole dusted Fried Chicken...

PORK STEAK.

I'm a BBQ fanatic and had never heard of a pork steak. I am forever changed. Just get it. Delicious smoky sweet flavor and fork tender. So good.

The brisket was good but overshadowed by the pork steak. The Brussels are also tasty.

Excellent BBQ. The service was amazing as well. I don't think there is one bad thing on the menu. BEAST is hands down my favorite place to eat in Columbia.

Absolutely scrumptious! Love the $15 lunch specials, our favorite dinner is the 32 oz fork tender pork steaks. The pit beans and creamy slaw sides go perfectly together. Be sure to try the apple butter BBQ sauce too!

Biscuits, ribs, brisket, pimento cheese grits, and pork belly brussel sprouts...RUN and grab a chair!! This food was AMAZING!! Staff was attentive and the price was reasonable. If you like good smoked BBQ, this is your place!

First time eating here and it was good, friendly service, although I didn't dine in, I did go inside to pickup our food, warm and friendly environment. I will visit again

This place was amazing. The food was great I got the brisket and my friend got the pork steak and they were both so good and tender not dried out at all. The mashed potatoes are great probably my favorite from any restaurant. Was a little disappointed that they did not have Mac and Cheese but still all was good. The sweet tea was perfect. The Service was fast friendly and polite. All around just a good place to grab a bite.

Went here for a friend’s birthday dinner. I’m not really a BBQ person, so I had the Pimento Cheeseburger which, I have to say, was amazing! Everyone else had various dishes and they all raved about how good it was. Great food and good sized portions, too. Service was good and the food was nice and hot when delivered to the table. I’d definitely eat here again.

Absolutely delicious! Every item my family ordered was made to perfection with quality ingredients. The portions were large and the staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. Definitely will be back! 😊

Friendly, attentive staff and the food was great! I had an excellent brisket sandwich with white BBQ sauce. Now what made the difference was their attention to the sides. Everyone in our party commented on how good their sides were. My fries were crispy, natural cut, and delicious.
I do not live in the Columbia area, but I will gladly drive from Alton to eat there again.

I have to give 5 stars as I LOVE Beast! However, the service at the Columbia location was sub par on Sunday. The staff was very shorthanded and they were out of almost everything. I know the meats are made daily and sell out quick but how do you run out of mashed potatoes? Luckily the one thing I went for was the pork steak and they had some left, it was AMAZING as always so it made up for the service. I hope it's just like everyone else and help is hard to find right now. I will continue to eat here as the food is phenomenal but I hope service is better next time.

Crystal, Emily and Grace made sure our experience was A+, 5 star. The food was excellent but the service was exceptional. I can’t say enough about these 3, 5 star employees. Please recognize the three outstanding employees. We couldn’t be more pleased with the Beast!

I would imagine that most of the reviews here focus on the barbecue— understandably so, since it’s great. So let’s talk about something else.

Last time in, I was hungry for wings, so I ordered those. I wanted a side, and I decided to try the ham and beans. One bite in, I declared to my wife: “Omigod! These are the best ham and beans I have ever had in my life!” Deep, deep flavors, perfect texture, and spices that enhanced the flavor of the beans and the ham without overpowering them. Outstanding!

And the wings? Dry-smoked, no sauce, but no sauce needed. When you can pack that much flavor into the wings, it works. This was the first time I have had pickled celery, but it really added to the flavor profile.

The food coming out of the kitchen here is great. David Sandusky is a master!

I got the beef brisket plate and it was to perfection. The braised black eyed peas were different from the usual and quiet good.
You can't go wrong there's plenty on the menu.

Our family loves beast! We order regularly. The sides are wonderful and of course the meat is amazing! We are never disappointed. Also Meemaws chocolate cake was my birthday cake!

We tried this place on an "impromptu date," really just a place to meet and have a sit down meal. The decor was a bit austere-fine by me and actually preferable-and VERY clean. We were warmly greeted and sat in a cozy spot. By looking at the menu one would think that this is just a joint that has some decent food that you can finish off later, not a lot of items to choose from there. My accomplice went for the brisket sandwich, which she says was great. Putting the slaw with it really set it off. I on the other hand ordered the smokehouse nachos...
I wanted them with pork and brisket, and when the attentive waitress asked if there was anything I didn't want on the my nachos she got the normal answer of, "no, put everything on them."
So, I got this large plate with a heaping pile of appetizing food on it. As I looked at it I started noticing that something was different. VERY DIFFERENT! This is the first time I've had nachos with brussels sprouts on them. More than just a pleasant surprise, it was spectacular. I can't go on enough about how wonderful it really was. My intent was to eat just some, that morphed into ⅔. My partner in this caper plucked multiple brussels sprouts from my nachos, kindly assisting me with my bountiful load.
I can not say enough about multiple things here: The staff/team was awesome;
It was an all hands on deck affair;
Everyone was involved and engaging;
The food was phenomenal;
The environs terrific and comfortable.
YOU ARE REMISS IF YOU DO NOT COME HERE AND TRY THIS PLACE/PEOPLE/ CUISINE. For me it's a bit of a drive, however, well worth it and will be made again not only for my personal enjoyment, but to introduce friends and family.

It was good. We got there late, they didnt complain and were more than happy to let us stay. We did have a big group though. And the pace seemed empty. Unique menu with some of the best fried chicken Ive seen lately.

The food was very delicious and the portions make it a good value. My server was polite and friendly. He took good care of me and kept my drink filled.
