Great staff, just go in person if you have troubles with phone calls. I did that and every thing went smoothly. My cats have healed from their spay greatly and are back to themselves after one week. Keeping recovery vest on for at least two. You guys did amazing work, thank you ♡

As I’m reviewing the ratings for FVAWL almost all of them are excellent (which I agree with) but I’m going to throw my 2 cents worth in on some of the recent bad ones…..So your upset because no immediate pick up or return call? Try being a VOLUNTEER (just in case you don’t understand that it’s means NO PAY) that gets 100’s of calls a day. Please for EVERYONE who complained about this…..Call your local vet, they will answer and schedule you an immediate appointment. Then you can complain how much they charge. Another one….had multiple appointments and cancelled???? Really?? and then got upset no deposit was returned. Regardless of health issues. Sounds like they accommodated you. They schedule accordingly and once cancelled appointment ok….not multiple times.
I’ve been using this clinic for over 10 years both with my rescue and my own personal animals. Their staff has ALWAYS been more then accommodating and professional. I’d give more then 5 stars if I could just because without them the rescue could not afford some of the procedures done there at other places. They’ve seriously saved our rescue 1,000’s of dollars. Let me remind anyone reading this. ITS AN ALL VOLUNTEER CLINIC. They don’t get paid. I wonder how many people would do this and put up with such negative and harshness as I’ve read from those that have. Simply put, they do the best they can. And if it’s not good enough for some, then please call your private vets and pay their prices. I love this place, and thank each and everyone of them for the wonderful jobs they do out of the goodness of their hearts.

Very nice people and efficiently run. If I need to leave a message that return my call quickly. We are asked to wait in our cars until the the vet is ready to see which I find helpful because my dog is very friendly but has a lot of energy.

And especially the the inexpensive! It was going to cost $182 at my vet to get a 3 years rabies tag and here it cost me $82 including a 6-month supply of heartworm meds. You do need to plan ahead because the clinics, I believe, I run once a month. I highly recommend!

The administrator was very nice and got me checked in quick. My kitty Twinkie was very upset and confused after her spay but the doctor knew exactly how to calm her. They provided pain medicine and post op instructions. Twinkies recovery has been smooth

*My best tip: if you want to make an appointment, show up in-person ahead of time as their phones get busy :)!*

Scheduling: I adopted my puppy from a local shelter, and the shelter told me this would be the place to go to get my puppy spayed. Per the shelter’s recommendation, I should call to make an appointment, and was told that if the Animal Welfare League doesn’t call me back within a week, then I should call again — but not to call too many times as they are super busy. I called once a week for four weeks, and didn’t hear anything back, so I decided to drive over to make an appointment. The person at the desk (blonde, friendly woman!) quickly helped me make a spay appointment. I was lucky that there was one available within a few days, but then after that there weren’t openings for a few weeks.

Actual appointment: I brought my puppy in at around 8 AM, and the staff was extremely kind. They put her in a clean space where she would wait until her surgery, and then I would pick her up at four. I was worried about her all day, because she has a little bit of separation anxiety, but they assured me that they would take very good care of her — and they did! When I returned to pick her up, she was very calm because of the drugs she was on, but she was also happy to see one of the staff who I had seen earlier in the morning, which was a good indication to me that they had been treating her kindly while I was gone. :)

Post-visit: the Welfare League provided me with aftercare instructions, along with pain meds. She was a little sleepy for a few days, but now it has been about three weeks and she is fully healed and back to normal.

Thank you so much for taking care of her, and it’s no wonder that people recommend this place, it’s really great!

Recently brought my dog to get spayed here and everything went well. They even provided 4 days worth of pain meds. After I dropped her off, they said to expect her to be done by 4pm, so I didn’t wait for a phone call from them and went there a little after 4pm and I was able to pick her up. I also recommend making an appointment in person instead of calling.

I had a friend refer them to me and they were great! I called, left a voice mail to find out if I can be put on the wait list for my rabbit to be neutered and they called me back the next day. I do know they are super busy so if you don't hear back right away, give it a few days! If nothing, leave a voice-mail again. They are just doing their jobs the best they can!

Service was great! Pulled up in the a.m., someone was already outside ready to take my rabbit in. Went to work and came right back to pick him up. Easy as that! I will be taking my female rabbit in next! I definitely recommend!

They also gave me diet recommendations because he's becoming quite the chunk! Definitely appreciated!

I wish I could give them 10 stars! Great experience from start to finish. I brought Dolly in to be spayed and was greeted by a friendly face immediately. I had printed the surgery form and had it completed prior to my arrival, which I recommend for a quick drop off. I will admit, I was a bit nervous about leaving my sweet Dolly, but I immediately felt at ease when I walked in. Very clean and organized. I arrived 45 minutes early to pick her up post surgery, not knowing if I would have to wait until the specified 4:00 pick up time, but I was allowed to take her right away. Right when I walked in, she knew I was there for Dolly, it was amazing and confirmed that I made the right decision by having her services done here. The post-op instructions were clearly explained and Dolly is doing great! I highly recommend FVAWL!! 10 stars!!

We absolutely LOVE this place! All the staff are VOLUNTEERS and dedicate their extra time to the animals. Although it may be challenging to get an appointment as quickly as you'd like, it's WORTH IT! They are amazing, professional, dedicated to the animals and the prices are excellent. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to anyone!!!

Great place to obtain immunizations for your dog/cat. I saved $125 over the cost from my veterinarian.

I don’t like doing reviews but after laughing at some of the crazy negative ones from a long time ago I figured I’d add a positive one! Just had my almost 6 mo old German shepherd spayed today! Quick and easy process overall and could tell our girly was taken care of. Had no issues when calling to make the appointment. Answered almost immediately. Staff was super kind and friendly! I came in with my toddler and the gal even helped hold my son so we could get our puppers into the kennel. That was fun lol. The vet on staff also helped give some samples of preventatives for my girl! They went above and beyond. Can’t believe the affordability of this place too! God bless all the staff and generous volunteers!!

10000000000000000% recommend taking your fur babies here.

I have two rabbits, one male and one female.
I inquired about getting them neutered/spayed via email and I was responded to the same day! The woman I spoke with on the phone was very nice and assuring!

The day of surgery went great for both my bunnies.
However, towards the end of the week my female rabbit's incision started to look strange (turns out my bunny was rejecting her sutures, &turned out not to be a huge deal in my case).

I quickly contacted their facility via email with photos and got a response from Dr. Brown that same night.
(let me just say that Dr. Brown is such a nice woman and truly cares for your animals. I trust her completely.)

Dr. Brown quickly took my bunny in the next day and redid her sutures and got rid of the fluid build up. &Since Dr. Brown is so thorough, she made sure to keep my bun in her care for a couple days to look after her incision.

During my rabbit's stay with Dr. Brown, Dr. Brown made effort to reach out to me every day to give me progress updates on my rabbit's incision. Which I greatly appreciated!

Bless this wonderful place. A very kind soul that works here helped my precious cat in a time of crisis today. I wasn't sure what I was going to do since all the vets in the entire Chicagoland were full (even the 24 hour emergency care). It's for people like Rich that make this World a beautiful place. This year I began to lose my faith in humanity. Yeah, I only want to hang out with my cat. I feel like this experience of pure kindness renewed my soul. Thank you for helping my best friend and giving me a fresh perspective about people (cause I haven't met too many kind ones in a long time). I also didn't have any other alternatives to get help for my baby in time. I do feel this experience reminds me that God cares about animals as much as humans(so much that he aligned the right person at the right time to help).
