Lee's Hunan Chinese Restaurant

Don't judge a book by its cover. The food is delicious and the owner is soooo kind. He made my 2 children balloon animals after dinner. They loved it- and they ate all the broccoli chicken. Don't pass this place up.

I haven't even tasted the food yet, but while waiting, I saw a older gentleman working the restaurant all himself. He made a whole big family order for Thanksgiving himself and the gentleman that purchased it was a little needy . But the man working did not once seem irritated or upset by his requests, just simply served him. As I paid for my food he gave me two balloon animals and said he made them himself. A rabbit and a rhino. I haven't had such good service in so long and it is so refreshing to see such a hard working individual clearly enjoy doing what they do.
Prices are decent and the food smells good, can't wait to go home and enjoy. :) Thank you.

Have also passed by this place and wondered about it but never think about it when the family wants Chinese food.

First things first, the building doesn't have the best curb appeal. But that being said, a sign on the door says he is carry out only now.

Next, I was having trouble finding a current menu online. Many were 4-6 years old. I was pleased to find out this guy really hasn't changed the menu in 6 years. I included a picture of his current one. It looks like the prices are the same.

Lastly, the food was pretty good and plenty for the little money that you pay in comparison to other places locally. The vegetables in all of our meals were fresh and even tender crisp crunchy. If you've been on the fence about trying it, do it.

We are visiting for the weekend and stopped here because it had decent reviews...we were not disappointed. Pork fried rice, seasame chicken and wonton soup were delicious!

This is the freshest Chinese food we have ever had. Ordered Moo Goo Gai Pan, Shrimp in Lobster Sauce, egg rolls and Rangoon. They must make their own mustard sauce, as it was hot but tempered, unlike what you get from a packet. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the veggies seemed like they were pulled from the ground that morning, cooked just enough to be hot but still crispy and tasty. Did not encounter the over salting some places use to get flavor. I'm not savvy enough to talk at great length about food nuances, I just know what I like and this place nailed it all around. Best Chinese food I've ever had! We will hit this place again whenever and every time we come through St. Joe.

This place needs to be starred on the map. The owner has great prices compared to many other Chinese restaurants in the area, and the food here is the best I've had. I haven't had anything from this place that wouldn't hesitate to order again. I keep referring locals to Lee's and they tell me the same thing......

Tried pot stickers at other places and didn't like them but took a chance with this place and my goodness they and the sauce they came with were so good! Those and their crab rangoons are the best I've had in the Stevensville/ St. Joseph area. Tiny place but definitely a hidden gem!

Great find! Food is really good and has a real authentic taste that definitely is different from some greasy fast food Chinese places. Instead of that nasty oil feeling, this food is legit and made from scratch. Good prices and portions and awesome environment. It's really quiet so it's a super unique place for a date. Owner is super friendly and easy to talk to.

Only downside is the food takes a little while to come out because the owner and one other person are the only people that cook. Totally worth the wait though. I'll definitely go back again.

It's always made fresh at a great price. I've had great luck with the chicken that I've ordered and the crab rangoons are always delicious. It might be hard to spot if you've never been there before but I would highly recommend it. The chicken fried rice and spicy mustard are great as well.

The reviews have it correct. Not much to look at (in fact, if I hadn't already ready many reviews I would not have stopped) but the food is great. I was in St. Joe's on vacation, I spoke with several locals and they all recommended Lee's for Chinese/Asian food.

I was buying for 20+ people, so I was a little concerned about such a large takeout order, I went in at lunchtime to speak with them (assumed to be "Lee" and his wife) they were WONDERFUL! They helped me pick a variety of dishes and all of the ones I tried were excellent. What's more, they allowed me to place my dinner order right then at lunch and had it ready exactly when I asked it to be. Because of the size of the order I expected it to be more difficult, it couldn't have been easier.... wait... no... it could have. They don't have their full menu anywhere online that I could find. That's it! And for the record, everyone I bought for spoke highly of the food as well.

I'll definitely be back every time I visit the area.

Three of us had the "dinner for three". The appetizers were very tasty, included soup, Rangoon, spring rolls and chicken wings. The entrees were sweet and sour chicken, cashew chicken and pepper steak. All three were delicious. We will definitely eat there again next time we visit St. Joe.

I get takeout from here quite a bit. It's always good! It's always ready and hot, dependable service time. It's a small shop run by a great person. Good local business to support. My favorites are chicken egg foo young over crunchy noodles, cashew chicken, and snow peapod

We had never been here before and just stumbled upon it. We are so glad we did! The building is a little outdated and quaint, but don't let that discourage you. The man who waited on us and cooked our food was very nice. The food was fresh and outstanding! We will definitely be back!

Best Chinese food in town. It's a mom and pop place. Great food at a great price. The lunch combos are the best deal which includes fried rice, egg roll, and soup. Tea is also included. Bruce and Cindy Lee are the nicest hard working people you will ever meet.

As good now as it’s been for the last few decades, and reasonably priced. Don’t let the dingy exterior fool you - the food is still the best in town by far. Their Governor’s Chicken will spoil you for that dish anywhere else, and the pot stickers are fantastic.

I've remembered eating here with my mother as a kid I grew up with the owner in a way he would give me lighting bolt carrots which was really cool I actually ate my veggies and till this day the food is still amazing

I have been eating at this restaurant for about 30 years. Although the ambience leaves a bit to b desired, the food is the best! I have been everywhere from New Mexico to Australia to Thailand & Lee Hunan is still my favorite place for Chinese food! And the owner/chef is the best!

So Delicious !!! Dine in take out. Super Kind , Lovely People :) Mom and Pop Restaurant, that's a must to visit or order out from. The food will keep you coming back :) We have been enjoying

Lee's has the best egg rolls in Soutwest Michigan, bar none. Tonight I ate Mu Shu Beef (no celery, because I'm allergic), delicious! I have never had a bad meal here. The food is always scrumptious! Just had his crab rangoon Saturday night! Scrumptious! No onion so you can actually taste the crab and cheese! YUM!
