Martin's Camping Ground

A friend told me about Martin’s campground. I had my doubts after reading previous reviews and looking at the location but lo and behold, this place has surpassed my expectations. Yes it’s a small campground. No their isn’t any amenities besides a bathhouse with a couple showers and toilets but the people staying here and those that work here are super friendly people. I’ve been here 2 weeks and haven’t ran into a single grumpy person yet. This campground is almost all full timers or people working in the area. Everyone is so friendly.
Yes it’s next to the expressway but if you’ve lived next to a road or train tracks anywhere else then it’s not that hard to get used to. The noise isn’t that bad. I’ve slept with my windows open a few nights and it’s completely doable. Just depends on the person you are.
Brenda in the office is the sweetest most caring lady I have ever encountered at a campground. She took care of my wants prior to my arrival and answered all my questions and even texted me prior to my arrival to make sure that I had a safe journey to the campsite. I’ve yet to meet the owner but they get my 5 star review for sure.

We needed a place to stay and saw this place on the I 80.
We pulled in late with no reservation but the man took us to a spot to stay for the night.
My wife went in the office in the morning and talked to a young woman.
These people were helpful and very nice.

The staff is amazing. They will accommodate you with all your needs. Brenda is amazing!!! She does it all! Propane is also onsite. Mailing things there is also permitted and easily done. Pets are allowed. Parking is easy. Grass is mowed two times a week. The location is perfect for people that are working in the area. everything you need will be 8-15mins away. If you need anything, Brenda is so so nice and will try to do her best to take care of all your needs. She really goes above and beyond! If I work in the Chicago area again I will most definitely return here. Monthly and weekly rates are super fair!!!

I have stayed here several times for the location for my work. Location is everything thing and this place has got it, close to the highway to get on and go. The new owner, some years back, has been upgrading things at a steady pace. Most all of the times I've stayed, sites are large enough for all my vehicles. Try it, you'll like it!

Nice camping ground in Joliet, IL. Service is excellent & friendly. It’s a well run campground. Super nice, newly renovated bathrooms. Good place to stay in the area. They also offer propane filling service.

We had a pleasant stay at Martin’s Campground - the grounds were well maintained and Brenda at the front office was super friendly and helpful! We will stay again next time we’re in the Chicago area. Thank you! -Kyle

Great open and clean sites. New management is still working on overall campground renovation though. We stayed for 4 nights with full hookup, no issues with any resources. Staff was very welcoming and accommodating for any requests. Will definitely recommend someone for transit stay.

Brenda and MJ were very helpful and nice. Unfortunately It rained a lot during our stay so we didn’t get to socialize much because we were stuck in our RV most of the time. A big thanks for all your help!!

We were traveling with our fifth wheel when we had a mechanical issue happen. We knew we needed to get to a campground so we were off the road. We called Martin’s Campground, explained our situation and their response was come on in. We limped to the campground and was greeted by very friendly staff. We explained we had no idea who to call for repair or how long it would take. The owner gave us a name of a local company that he highly recommended for the repair. The staff doing our check in told us not to worry how long the repair took as they had a spot of us for as long as we needed it. For those who have had a mechanical issue happen while on the road, your biggest concern is to get somewhere safe and where the issue can be taken care. This campground provided those for us!! The campground is very well maintained and it shows that the owners care about their business. It is easy to get in and out of the park. Internal roads are in good shape. Our grassy site was just the right size – plenty of room between us and our neighbor. I would highly recommend this park. We were able to get our issue taken care of early the next morning and were back on the road. Thanks to the park!

Martin campground! What can I say! They have a plan to have a community cookout every Monday weather permitting, the one yesterday Monday, June 17, 2019 was a wonderful success I wish I could leave photos!!! It’s a wonderful place for families, pets, and couples! They have great prices and lots of space! The new owners are fabulous! They have great guidelines in place to keep everyone happy and safe and they have a wonderful working attitude wonderful customer service! Clean facilities, well kept grounds, a growing business that provides a wonderful experience! So much fun! Will definitely stay every time I am in town!

Great place, I was in town to visit family and work. The camp grounds have no wifi available. I had to order Starlink that is working great at my spot.

Went here to use their dump service and read some bad reviews so was expecting the worse.

When I got there I was meet by a very friendly person and she was GREAT!!! She helped me with what I needed. Thanks MJ.

If you need to dump and refill propane this is the place for you. If you need to stay while on your trip you'll find the customer service amazing.

This may not be the fanciest of parks, and if that's what you are looking for then keep going. This park is ran by genuinely nice people who keep a tight reign on the rules. Follow the rules and you'll be fine. It has stood the test of time apparently because the facilities are aged, but clean.. That said, our spot has plenty of space, a picnic table, grass, and full hookups. The entire park is clean, mowed, and exceptionally quiet. We are truly enjoying the stay. We have loved the fireflies at night, they come by the hundreds.. it's beautiful and amazing!

Saul is such a nice guy. His campground is well-kept, clean, quiet, organized, affordable and has all the amenities you need at a roadside RV stop. It’s not a tourist attraction but if you need a place to stay for work in Joliet or a quick stop off, it’s perfect and Saul is so accommodating and friendly. We were getting in late and he told us to check out a couple open spots over the phone and then we paid him in the morning. Would highly recommend this location.

Stopped in to fill up the propane tank on our class c. Easy in & out and friendly. Will be our go to destination for propane. We live right down the street from the campground. We currently camp seasonally in the summer and travel during the winter. From the front where we filled up it appears the campground is very well kept. I would consider staying here 100%.

Stayed here one night on our way to Wisconsin. Great spot! Very friendly owners. Happen to be a night they had a community cookout. Fish tacos were awesome! Met some great folks as well! Visit Pilcher Park while you are there. Stayed here in June 2019. Highly recommend!

Here's the truth. Kid friendly, pet friendly, staff is helpful. Obey the speed limit and you don't have a problem my kids are out there lbs.
I judged this place off reviews and held off on it, but decided to see for my self never left lol is one of those things.
I've been here almost a year now with my wife and kids. The grounds are well kept they're out there working everyday. The bathrooms are cool with my neat freak wife, so if she can understand that we at a camp ground not Martha stewards lol. The staff done helped me out all the time no charge. Need a jump everyday didn't get irra. Needed a hose twice gave me one. My kids are watched out for all the time so I like the speed limit. I like the white noise of the express way soooo I kg know why you would park next to it and complain about noise Tf lmbo.
The owner does hate it when you break the speed limit and I do too my kids are playing out there I feel safe knowing that he firm on that. The staff are union men so respect and no bs =no problem , and I'm hood black so let's be honest I'd be the first to experience bad people lbs. But it's always peaceful other than that(might see the guys watching a game or barbecuing) their right to. Never seen the police hear if it was that bad. And they work hard to repave these roads like everytime it rains or gets messed up I've f'd up the roads before it's was no problem. The owner didn't choke slam me or get drink and harass me smh thats bogus the way people talking about them. When they know they aren't victims. These reviewers are butthurt over something idk probably speeding you will get a stern talking to for that it's for the kids tho but trust me they are exaggerating as if he crazy lol

This place you will love office staff was awesome (Brenda) did everything she could to make your stay comfortable yes I recommend this place when ever I come back this way this is my place to stay

Very affordable, full hookups, 50 amp. No bonfires, highway is close and there's noise, but its not bad. People keep to themselves. Great place for a working man to park while working in the area.

Pluses: great price, level spots (gravel), friendly neighbors and staff, support the military

Minuses: right off I-80 (traffic noise not too bad), limited services

Notes: not the best washrooms/shower, no laundry, playground, etc. Kids enjoyed an open field across from our site. We overnighted on July 4, 2016. Propane available. Near grocery and Wal Mart.

This is the Comfort Inn of campgrounds, not the Ritz. Expect that.
