I called and didn’t get a machine, the lady who answered was very helpful and kind as well as knowledgeable. Don’t know how they are after the initial call but very pleased with the overall first impressions.

Terrible service they are only here to steal peoples hard earned money for silly fines worth $100s of dollars for something as stupid as having a bit of tall grass or having a car with an expired plate that later got plates renewed. The judge is also trash and biased, he’s already on the side of the inspectors which i 100% believe do not get complaints from any neighbors they just say that so they can use that as an excuse to come to a house they have seen which would possibly have code violations. They do not consider you fixing the problem they still fine you. I will be looking for a way to vote them out if possible in a future election. They are borderline harassing people at this point. The city is money hungry.

The CIty of Joliet Neighborhood services department is very aggressive in including any non-owner occupied property in their Rental Inspection program. They have almost 10 inspectors whose only job is to answer to neighbor's complaints and write administrative adjudication tickets. I have seen people being fined for leaving their garbage can on the street for a day, for having brushes taller that 4 feet, for tall grass, for having concrete pavers stored next to a shed, etc. It is not a municipality friendly or understanding to non-owner occupants. Property owners, beware.

I did not receive any neighborhood service when I phoned to have an abandoned couch removed that was dumped behind my garage. I was told that I was responsible and could even be fined! I don't understand how this is acceptable. I guess it depends on which neighborhood you live in that determines what kind of service you receive. I don't think the city neighborhood services cares as long as they don't have to live with it or pay for it. I'm very disappointed.

I would rate 0 stars if I could. I moved into my home 2 years ago and have received notices for every bit of thing that is not even possibly noticeable to the "public." Evidently, these are efforts to collect money and disturb responsible homeowners who are just trying to make it through.
