This campground marked the start of a 2-day backpacking trip. I arrived late Friday evening and it was easy enough to find the reserved spot. Camping across from the toilets (121) turned out to be a good choice since I didn’t have close neighbors and it was very quiet throughout the night.

Portage Lake Campground exceeded my expectations in every way! The picturesque setting nestled amidst nature's beauty provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The well-maintained campsites offered ample space and privacy, and the stunning views of Portage Lake were simply breathtaking.

The campground facilities were top-notch, with clean restrooms and hot showers that made camping much more comfortable. The friendly and helpful staff added to the overall positive experience, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our stay.

One of the highlights was the abundance of outdoor activities available. We enjoyed hiking the nearby trails, which offered a diverse range of difficulty levels and rewarded us with stunning vistas. Fishing on Portage Lake was a delight, and we even managed to spot some local wildlife during our stay.

The sense of tranquility and serenity at Portage Lake Campground was unmatched. Whether sitting by the campfire under a starry night sky or waking up to the soothing sounds of nature, it was an idyllic retreat that rejuvenated our spirits.

The only minor downside was the limited availability of electrical hookups, but it was a small trade-off for such a pristine natural environment.

Overall, Portage Lake Campground is a gem of a destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. I cannot wait to return and create more lasting memories in this picturesque paradise. Highly recommended!

We love this campsite! It is dog friendly. Everyone is kind and respectful. Great Lake to go swimming at and showers on site for the campground. They sell fire wood and ice if you run out.

We stayed in the cabin overlooking the lake. Although it was in the main part of the campground, it was very private. Room was rustic but clean. The view of the lake would be better if they cleared out some brush but was otherwise very scenic. The restroom is a 2 min walk uphill. Would stay again.

Just spent four days on the north loop and it was great. Spot was awesome and had a good view of the lake and we had decent cell service. The bathrooms were clean and the camp host had activities for adults and kids and helped out today with the mass exodus at the dump station. Beach was clean and at times it was crowded but things went well with no issues The only two minor concerns were the vending machines need some attention from the vendor the park uses. Issue with buttons and stock and the pavilion store needed to post hours. Other than that it was a great experience and we will be back and do recommend this to others.

This park is close to home, right on a lake and has lots of wooded hiking trails. There is a small playground for kids and a beach area and boat launch. We love camping here!

Maintained very well. Friendly, helpful, quiet. Nice beach area with playground and a second smaller playground for younger kids.
Bathrooms and showers were cleaned numerous times daily. The grounds are mowed regularly.

Great family campground. Access to Portage Lake for swimming is a short walk from the Portage North section. Very clean, quiet campground, each time we have visited.

This is a nice campground. The sites are well maintained and fit my 26' trailer well. The site and road geometry made backing in the trailer easy. The hiking trail into the woods went right to the campground. Check in was quick and problem-free. It was a great experience.

Like all the state park this is very clean and well maintained. A few bathrooms are located around the campground. The spaces are generous and the majority have electricity only. The lake has a little beach with sands. Nice place.

This is a great campground with a very nice beach to swim in the lake. The restrooms and showers are super clean. The spots are nice and taken care of. The beach is super nice, it has a concession stand and dog friendly swim areas!

This is our favorite campground close to home. Only about 45 minutes or so away. We are able to head out Friday afternoon and have an amazing weekend. The bathrooms are really clean. The park is generally quiet after 10pm. We love meeting new people and our dogs love the walks! There's a dry marsh walk that's pretty neat. My Australian Shepherd loves that walk the most. We don't go to the beach much but it is very nice. Most sites are shaded at least part of the day. There are great spots for RV and tents. Kids love the paved hills, with their roller blades, scooters and bikes. I love the paved hills so my little dog whose elderly and blind and ride in the stroller when he's tired. I honestly don't have a bad thing to say about this camp ground.

I really like this campground and come here with my family sometimes. We normally stay in the cabin and a tent or a camper. The host is very nice. She has lots of good games and coffee in the morning. The cabin is small, but good for 4 to 5 people. It is also very comfortable and has heating. I highly recommend this campground. It makes a great vacation!

Nice range of different sites. Many are quite large so you have room to spread out if you want. Lots of mature trees for shade. Bath house is very clean and has individual separate shower rooms. Beach and lake water are clean. Small concession stand has ice cream and other snacks and it's open 12.30p to 4.30p. Lots of parking if you're just coming to the lake for the day.
Only downside to location is poor cell coverage with T-Mobile. Was working remotely and that made it challenging. But good to disconnect from technology for a few days.

This is a nice campground for trailers, tents or motorhomes. Very remote paved roads. Nice restrooms, showers.

We camped here for 2 nights at the end of June, 2018. Campsite was well groomed and pretty level. The vegetation is kept down and bugs are not bad. The campground has a paved trail that leads to 2 really nice playgrounds and then to the beach are. The beach was popular for midweek, but not too crowded. Really liked this campground. One of my favorites.
