Golden Rhino Games

I’ve been going to Golden Rhino (or GRG for short) since it opened late 2020, and I can’t say enough good things about this store. I live in Novi and there are a few tabletop gaming stores closer to me but yet I make the 45 min drive just to go here for all my gaming needs.

Ian, the owner, is highly knowledgeable in all things tabletop gaming. He is especially well versed in Warhammer and Games Workshop products. He and his staff are friendly, helpful and even play demo games with you to get you introduced to the hobby in general, or a game system in particular.

Ian stocks a massive variety of products from Games Workshop, Warlord Games, Asmodee, Catalyst, and many more. The store has 8 large 4x6 foot gaming tables that costs just $10 to play all day (and that $10 gets refunded to you as store credit so you don’t lose it, it’s there for your next purchase).

Just recently they opened up a brand new cafe within the store. If you get hungry while gaming, John, the chef, can whip up a mean wrap or sandwich in a variety of different ways. The sandwiches and sides are so good that it could be a stand alone food truck or deli on its own!

If you’re in the Ypsilanti area, or in the Metro Detroit area, give this place a try. I’m pretty sure you’ll leave impressed.

This place is great! The workers are extremely kind and helpful (on the phone, online, and in-person). Their events are fun and affordable to attend. And they have a great selection of games!

Edit: Came to the grand opening of the Café (on November 10, 2023), ordered a sandwich, a side, and played a game while we waited for our food. The food was pretty good, served quick and with great service. And Ham's Sandwich Shop is a great game!

I wandered in there randomly and found a hidden gem. Got some wonderful stickers and dice as well as conversed with some lovely people's that worked there. Found out they host campaigns for table games and Ill be bringing back friends. Run don't walk to try out their cafe too! 100/10 sandwiches and fries

Driving from Jackson, we stopped by the shop for the first time today while meeting up for a gaming related trade with a local and the store was immaculate. Clean, bright, friendly, excellent staff and service, stocked to the brim and actively hosting 40k games on beautiful tables. They even had a cafe inside! Will definitely be back.

Had a lovely experience. They didn't have the exact item I needed, but I was very particular. Stock is generally solid, prices are fair, the space is beautiful, and the people are nice (and no one had bad body odor, which is rare in these kinds of spaces).

I went in looking for a Deck Box for some Tarot Decks, and had a lovely chat with several people there.

This is a nice community hub for anyone interested in Tabletop Games, especially wargaming, which is what they were setup for when I arrived. Something called Bolt Action I think? It was new to me.

Stepped into the shop over the weekend. Instantly greeted by Ian asking if I had any questions or was in need of directions to get me started. An awesome inventory to browse through ranging from board games to waaaghgames sets. A friendly community eager to answer questions and even make recommendations. One game shop I don't mind the hour drive for.

Excellent game store with good table space for tournaments. If you play miniatures I'd recommend stopping in. They now have a cafe too.

Been to the storw a few times and everytime the employees were very nice and extremely helpful! Even the customers in the store were nice.
We scheduled a play and learn with the staff because my 10 year old was interested in learning how to play Warhammer 4000. The teacher Ian was great and made it so much fun.
Will definitely be back to support this awesome community store. ❤❤❤

Best game store in Michigan and arguably one of the best in the country. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The community is welcoming and the new cafe is excellent for a bite in between games. If you're in the area, you owe it to yourself to come by Golden Rhino and see for yourself.

Easily the best gaming/hobby store in the state, the employees are always nice and very knowledgeable of all tabletop gaming(TCG, board games, warhammer, conquest, etc) and can answer every question asked. I like how GRG has learn to play sessions unlike other stores which is very convenient for new people who have never played any kind of tabletop games, the store owner also shows so much passion for the store, customers and the employees, it would be great to see this business open up in other cities and states as I believe it has the potential to become even bigger 🙂🙂😁

We went to Golden Rhino Games for my son's birthday and had an incredible time. Not only was John amazing with us, teaching us to play MechWarrior tabletop, he was excellent with my youngest as well.
I can't recommend this place enough.

This is how game stores should be. The staff is super engaging and helpful and they offer tons of miniature painting supplies in comparison to other stores. I highly recommend supporting them, their attitude towards their business and customers is outstanding.

(Also they are one of two stores in Michigan that carry Monument paint, and it's in my opinion the best miniature paint in existence)

One of the, if not THE, best tabletop gaming shop I have ever been in! Wall to wall minis that range from common to difficult to find and for many different games. They also have several gaming tables for rent with terrain available for wargames if you you a friend want to test out the new armies. Accessories and add ons for your minis are overly abundant and with more paints and brushes than you would need to finish it up. While you game the kitchen can whip you up some amazing food on site as well. And on top of all that they have the most sci-fi way of being able to pay that saves you 10% shopping there! Sign up for the eyepay app to be able to pay with a retinal scan like you're the President accessing a top secret bunker. If you can't tell I love this place, if you are into Warhammer or other war gaming table tops you owe it to yourself to check out the golden rhino!

With a great selection of tabletop games and friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff, this is my favorite game store. Being able to do preorders for games with an online store is rare, and a great amenity. Lots of tables to play games on, too.

Absolutely THE best game store I’ve ever been to! If you can’t find it at GRG, it’s probably not worth finding. The staff is amazing! Friendly, helpful, patient, EXTREMELY knowledgeable! The owner will take time and explain any questions anyone has, and is very personable. 12/10 Would buy all game supplies there!

Golden rhino games is single handedly the best gaming store I’ve ever been to. The staff are always helpful and experts in finding you the best table top game to play with your friends. I myself play warhammer 40K all the time here and it saves me from being crammed in those tiny little model stores the competitors have. I mean these guys have tons of space and are always happy to share it with the community. Seriously guys they have like 8 tables and every time I walk in the store people are playing something new. check out this new Star Wars game it looks sooo fun. Looks like you can play as Jedi or sith definitely check is out!!!! This place is awesome 10 out of 10!!!

I just want to say what a amazing please Golden Rhino Games is they have everything a hobbyist could ever dream of from tools to build and craft with to miniatures and broad games and the list goes on but what they do have that alot of other stores like this don't amazing people working there to not only to just help you but wanting to be your friend and build a relationship with their customers to make them feel not only welcome but apart of something amazing not only do they love to help you but they love answering questions and to make sure your pointed in the right way and if they are not sure or don't know they literally stop what they are doing and either either pull out their phones or laptop and they get to work to find out for you I mean if that not 5 star ⭐ service I don't know what is like today a big shout out to my man Shawn for not only helping me find paints but giving me a insider look from someone who has a lot of experience with paints and painting 🖌🎨 what I should and should not get he even taught me a better way of dry brushing and highlighting my miniatures blow my mind out of this world 🌎 he literally took my brush and miniature and showed me first 🥇 hand how to do it and it made my jaw drop he so cool and just awesome 😎 to hang around with and he just so involved with helping me gave me feed back and some tips and tricks that will help me improve my work please I ask of you .....No I beg you if you want to get into a new hobby with building miniatures or figures please come here if anything I promise you won't regret it

Golden Rhino Games is hands down the finest tabletop game store I have been to in the past 10 years. Exemplary customer service, lots of room for gaming, a spotlessly clean facility, and fantastic stock - 40k, AoS, Conquest, MonPoc, Flames of War, Bolt Action, MCP, dozens of types of dice, countless RPGs and boardgames, and a wide variety of high-quality paints and hobby supplies, to scratch the surface.

Regular events, tournaments, and support for the hobby community with seasoned veterans sharing their hobby knowledge with people of all experience levels to take their painting, modeling, and basing skills to the next level.

Stores like this are to be treasured in the hobby community, and the consistency of top-tier service, friendly community, regular events, and immaculate store space all speak to the owner & staff's dedication to running such a great store, and fostering one of SE Michigan's best gaming communities.

GRG and its community are worth my making a weekly 45-minute drive to participate in the fun. I invite you to come visit, see for yourself, and (hopefully) become another regular customer with the rest of us.
