2 miles off of I 94 in the city of Belleville south of the expressway is the ultimate dining excursion for the Detroit area family Bayou Grill. Our knowledgeable waitress, McKenna or Mac if she prefers to be called was exceptional in her assisting us with her choices for the first meal that we will experience in the Louisiana style Cajun dining experience. Joe, the kitchen manager manager was about to prepare for us one of the best tasting meals we’ve had Throughout the Detroit area mind you I love all the places that I visit but this one was just a step above. We started out with the alligator bit and this was the unbelievable highlight of our meal loving to try unusual food. I took my fork, poked one of the alligator bits and dipped it in their special sauce, and popped it in my mouth, as I carefully chewed it, I said back and savored the delicious flavor of this tidbit. There was no flavor that would be unusual or strange or so far out that I could not finish this dish. In fact, it was so good that my partner and I enjoyed every tidbit as we savor the flavor. The outside crust and the sauce was just a perfect match for our first time ever eating alligator. I strongly recommend this particular plate, haven’t gone to the 1996 Olympics a New Orleans café set up free a free gumbo demonstration for people walking around the Olympic area and I got my first gumbo. Five samples later I was in love with gumbo not thinking that when I went to Belleville, if the Bayou Grill that their gumbo would be as delicious and fulfilling as I could imagine, and my taste buds were absolutely thrilled, I ordered the baked seafood which was a sampling of everything that they offer from shrimp to scallions to catfish to salmon in a savory sauce, and it was just mouthwatering. My addiction to tater tots was filled with the ample proportion that they gave me as a side dish with the catch-up I was in tater tot heaven. my partner had the grilled catfish platter and he loved it as we left we both marveled at the deliciousness of the cuisine at this butter. Joe was outback the kitchen manager who cooked meal and I was able to personally thank him for a fantastic meal I went as far as to buy a T-shirt that I will proudly wear with the alligator on it, especially if people ask if I really did eat alligator and I could say proudly yes I did, and I loved it, give this place of try it is so worth it. Please look at my photographs and I think you will definitely enjoy this. I wouldn’t order everything because it was a high bill for us to pay but we didn’t mind but I think if you do a couple dishes you want to come back and try others which we’re going to do and come back from war this was a treat and well worth the trip.

We stopped in here after church on Sunday just taking a chance. After living in LA for 4 years we are pretty picky about our Cajun cuisine. When we arrived we were a little concerned because there was no one to greet us and one other table full of customers. After a few minutes a sweet young lady with the brightest smile and bubbly personality showed us to our table. After that our experience was top-notch. I got the crawfish ettoufee and my wife got the gumbo. Both were very good! We finished with the best (and BIGGEST!) piece of Bread Pudding we’ve ever had in a restaurant. Service was excellent. We would definitely recommend this place!

Loved the food....absolutely loved it for this area. The taste is as close to southern as you can get. Love the decor and the staff was friendly and warming. Must stop if you are around and hungry for sea food or just straight up southern comfort food.

I've eaten here a number of times and have not been disappointed yet!
Got take out this time, and the Jambalaya was as good as I remember! Now I need to go back and dine in so I can update my rating! What a shame!

Ordered a shrimp poboy to go. Very tasty and the special cajun, vinaigrette dressing, & remoulade sauce with just the right amount of spice. The only thing that would make it better, would be if I was in NOLA eating it instead! :-)

Good low country fare. Gumbo was delicious... Spicy. The po-boy fish sandwich was good. And the hangover burger was good too. I recommend for anyone looking for good gumbo jambalaya alligator nuggets or red beans and rice. Give them a try we did and we weren't disappointed. The food was so tasty I even forgot to snap a clean photo. I had to take it after we had dug in already. Apologies.

Bayuo classic food. Wonderfully attentive wait staff. It's a fun place to eat, as well. They were doing a great trivia game the day we were there.

We got the coconut shrimp and
squid. The waiters were nice and answered questions well. Also, we got our food pretty fast. The place was cute and the food was good. best coconut shrimp I've ever had. I would recommend trying it! I only had one trouble, the bathroom was not the best. One toilet had a broken flusher.

Came here tonight for a quick solo bite and was so happy I did. I was greeted immediately by a super welcoming young lady who sat me in Andrea's section. Andrea was nice, personable, and knowledgeable! Will absolutely be back.

Our first time here, and we loved it. Ashley D was our waitress and an awesome job she did, so friendly and helpful. The place is very original and authentic, neat atmosphere. When I looked over the menu I spotted vegetarian eggplant etouffee, never heard off it. Ashley assured me I would love it, it was cooked fresh as I ordered it. And she was right, I loved it. Not to spicy just right, so delicious. I even bought some sauce to take out so I can have it again. Vegatables were nice and crisp with great flavor, you could tell how fresh everything was. Gluten free items too. Oh and yes my husband enjoyed his grilled chicken Caesar salad.

Wonderful place to dine. I was in town for an Assembly and I was looking for somewhere new to go. I had visited New Orleans this past summer and when I saw they had Fried Alligator, the decision was easy. This place did not disappoint. The Voodoo Alligator was excellent, the Chicken Atchafalaya was magnificent. I actually ordered extra Gator and a Sampler Platter to bring home. My party of 8 was satisfied.

I took my parents here for our weekly dinner outing. We read the good reviews and the Bayou did not disappoint! Our sever Austin C. was great, knowledgeable and alot of fun.

The food was GREAT! The rolls and garlic butter was a splendid surprise. My mom almost filled up on the bread before the main course even got there. We all ordered catfish and we were shocked at how huge the pieces were. The fish was delicious but we think it may be swai and not catfish...but it still tasted good. The cole slaw was on point and the ribs were crazy tender. My mom said the red beans and rice was surprisingly done right.

I am so excited to bring my friends here. And I hope the Bayou doesn't change a thing.

I really just went there to see if this venue was capable of hosting a bridal shower for 25 people. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The operator Derrick, appeared from his office and gave me all the details that I needed - on a Saturday night! I had a margarita and the boneless chicken wing salad. The portions were very generous and delicious. I'm excited about what's happening with the new ownership. Definitely booking my event here!

The food was great but really hot (SPICY). If you like spicy then order their Jumbleia. My tongue was on fire 🔥

We are over an hour away from this restaurant, but whenever we head that way we stop here. Food is good and lot's to choose from if you like cajun cuisine. The place does need a little love, there was water on the floor when you walk in and one of the toilets in the bathroom was clogged and gross.
