I have banked with Ledyard for many years. I switched when dissatisfied my last bank Bank East. I also bank, and have banked with many other banks in other countries. Ledyard is by far the best banking experience. Always helpful, always reasonable.

Not sure why they got so many bad reviews. The girls who work there are so kind and helpful. They know exactly how to help and can manage any issue that may arise. Plus I’ve never seen an all female staff before in one bank be so good looking. I have left the state and called from overseas so they can manage my travel financial plans and they did it so quick and easy. Highly recommend.

My partner and I moved to the Upper Valley for residency at DHMC in 2015. We were very excited to "go local" and bank with a smaller institution than we had dealt with in the past. What. A. Mistake. Ledyard has been almost satirically bad. We have both had our debit numbers compromised multiple times (3-4x or more) in just a couple years and learned the hard way that this bank will cancel your card without notifying you first. You find out when your card is declined at dinner and upon calling them they'll let you know they went ahead and cancelled it. When you do order a replacement card they'll tell you "7-10 days" but what that really means is 20-30. Oh, and don't expect to have your balance updated regularly using their online banking...it won't be.

We also had the great experience of having every single charge over a holiday weekend double-charged. DOUBLE. I caught the mistake while reviewing our online banking and when I called was glibly told "its just a glitch in our system and we'll likely work it out." Great. No apology. No customer service. Our balance was double dinged for 3 days for every transaction and the issue was only resolved on the 4th day. I've never had a bank make this kind of mistake before and was amazed they didn't email an apology or call those affected. We were one of many customers who were double charged that weekend.

Overall a terrible bank with terrible customer service. Don't trust them with your money and save yourself the headache. Bank elsewhere.
