I was looking for a good meditation class and group, and I feel very fortunate and thankful to have found the Mahamevnawa Buddhist Meditation Center of New Jersey. I took the introduction to meditation class and it was superb! The class is very well structured with half an hour daily zoom sessions, where new concepts and meditation techniques are introduced. Then you have to practice the new concepts and your questions or experiences can be shared in the next call. I have taken some 1-day meditation classes before, but I think this 4-day structure is way much better as one has more time to practice and ask questions. Another amazing aspect of the class is that, being taught by a Monk, one learns the more about the authentic Teachings of the Buddha from which the western adaptations such as mindfulness derive. Totally in love with this place and I am looking forward to further developing my meditation practice with their loving help.

I had the privilege of learning from Monk here, a remarkable monk who guided me on a transformative journey towards happiness and compassion let me tell you i am still new but i know this is the path . His teachings on meditation were profound, enabling me to cultivate a genuine sense of kindness and love towards myself and others. His wisdom and guidance have not only deepened my understanding of mindfulness but have also enriched my daily life. His patient and gentle demeanor created a supportive environment where I felt encouraged to explore and develop these essential qualities. I had a four day beginner’s class with Bhanthe Ransi and it was simply amazing! He patiently explained different qualities to develop and the various types of mediation to keep the mind peaceful and calm. I liked how he was able to offer simplified explanations for complex topics with ease. This clearly shows his experience. I’m confident that these teachings will help me greatly if I practice daily. Highly recommend for anyone looking to find some inner peace in this fast paced world!

Meditation classes at the Mahamevnawa Buddhist Meditation Center of New Jersey have been phenomenal for me as a fourteen-year-old girl. They have been so valuable to me. As a result of this program, I have developed methods to focus and assist with my schoolwork. I had a goal - to get closer to my religion, Buddhism. The center is the right place. I get to learn about my values while reading suttas. There is no better place for meditation than the center. There is a lot of relaxation and mindfulness involved in it. The more I practice Loving Kindness throughout my day, the more I appreciate myself and others around me. It is a pleasure to work with the monk here, he is highly knowledgeable and always willing to assist. For the practice of meditation and the lessons I am yet to learn, I am ever so grateful to be in this class. Looking forward to continuing my journey!

I tried the four-day evening meditation course. It was a very personal, intimate, and worthwhile experience. The Monk is very open and is obviously a kind and generous man. I have practiced meditation and studied Buddhism in a zen tradition for some years, and felt it was time to deepen my practice. I've attended the evening zoom meditations, as well as the saturday in-person micro retreat. I find Bhante's classes to be equally relatable to both the experienced mediator, and a one who is new to meditation. I began to immediately wake up with positive thoughts, a sharpened mental focus, a gentle understanding of how the Buddha's words apply to my own life, and a deepening insight in how to move beyond suffering. I am making this new learning with Mahamevnawa Buddhist Meditation Center a priority.

Meditation changed my life and many people I know. It’s a tool which is definitely worth at least to try.

Two years ago my every morning was started with a waves of anxiety, stress and even shaking hands.
I felt life I need to do everything today because I could die tomorrow. And if it happens before I finish all my tasks I will feel too guilty to live.
Of course I felt a lot of anger because I felt too dissatisfied.
I met one person who showed me the way which changed her life. It was the meditation way.
My mind works quite logically and I was looking for the reasons why would meditation work for me. I got the information that it helps to increase the focus, attention.
I started to think that it helps to discipline my mind and as a result I will be the person who decides where to direct my attention and how to think, that can definitely improve my mental health.
When there is a mindfulness developed the person can notice more beautiful things in life and feel more joy; the person can notice some places which need improvement and know where to direct his or her energy and resources.
All of that and even more facts about what can meditation do for me made me very curious and I didn’t have doubts that I want to try.
After my tries I found actually more that I even thought about meditation. I started to see my triggers before I start to yell at kids or be disappointed in my husband actions. I started to see that I have my internal pain which needs my attention.
And I directed my resource there.
Two years ago I was a person who made a lot of suffering to people I love. And today I feel very grateful to the meditation that I see how my life runs and I can make a choice before my reaction and response in better way to life situations.

I hope my story will make you to try meditation. It changes lives. There is no doubts about that.

I have been learning and practicing Meditation online with Mahanevnawa, New Jersey for some days now. Even though I am a short-term visitor to USA, I find this a great and memorable learning experience. Within a few days I am able to get peace of mind and concentration, about which I was struggling for some years. The Guru / guide is down-to-earth and excellent. Bhante offers 2 virtual meditation classes every day and extra guidance to anyone who wishes to further their spiritual journey. These group classes are exceptionally diverse as they are filled with people of all ages, ethnicities, backgrounds and religions. Everyone is there with the common goal of learning to lead a healthy and well balanced life through methods practiced for thousands of years.

I come from a Buddhist background and grew up in a Buddhist family. However, because I grew up in America, I felt like an outsider to the practice of meditation. I am at a point in my life where I am seeking to experience my own Buddhist journey. I am thankful to have found Bhante Ransi and this meditation class. He is very welcoming!

I knew very little about meditation. Before this class, meditation felt like a long agonizing 5 minutes of sitting and trying to control my mind. With Bhante's guidance and that of my fellow mediatators, two months later I was able to meditate for more than an hour. My mind has never been this peaceful. Because of this, my life has become content and happy. May you also be well and happy.

I live far from the centre so I've not visited it myself yet (though I very much plan to whenever I am next in the area) though I have the fortune of being able to attend the online meditation service offered by Mahemevnawa NJ Centre. We lack viharas where I live, so it is wonderful to be able to have the chance to practice dhamma with the community even if remotely. The monk who leads the meditations is very kind and helpful with instruction.
