IL Forno a Legna-Dunellen

I have nothing but positive reviews for this place! It is so cozy and the ambiance is so welcoming. That’s just the restaurants interior. The FOOD IS AMAZING. I have not had a single item here I didn’t melt over. The pizza is cooked to perfection. The flavor is very good and the sauces are to die for. I highly recommend eating in and enjoying the warmth of the wood burning oven and the smell of your pizza baking to perfection. I only wish I took more photos but here is the corner of my pizza and all its deliciousness.

We recently celebrated our daughter’s first birthday at their Dunellen location. Absolutely enjoyed working with Robert from beginning to end. He made the process as simple as possible for me considering I have a hectic schedule. Robert was always communicating and flexible with my requests. Irma was amazing as our hostess on the day of the event. Our guests complimented how delicious the food was and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend this local gem for any special event. Thank you to Robert, Irma, & the Il Forno staff for helping make our event special.

Love this gourmet style pizza! Have only ordered take out, but the pizzas come in fresh and delicious. The sauce is not too sweet or salty, has a bit of tangy sourness to it that I like. This will be my spot from now on. Looking forward to trying their other dishes and dining in person one day!

I've lived in New Jersey all 45 years of my life. Their pizza is in the top 3 best of ever had in my life. This place left me speechless.

As we were driving to eat at another Dunellen restaurant, my hubby spotted this one and we decided to stop and check it out. The staff was very nice and attentive! My hubby and kids ordered pasta this time, I had the arugula salad, and we also ordered a small garlic bread. The pasta was Al dente perfect!! My salad was yummy, with huge slices of Parmesan cheese. Initially we sat at a booth by the window, but it was super hot, maybe some shades would help with that. We had to move to another table. Also I think the air conditioner was not on, so it was a little hot. We will come back to try the pizza 🍕! Overall nice decor and great service, more importantly yummy food!!

This was my first time trying food from here thanks to a recommendation I received. I ordered takeout, so I can't comment on the in-house service, but their delivery driver, Robert, was kind enough to give me a call letting me know my order had been delivered (as I'd requested no contact delivery) and was very friendly. I ordered the personal margherita pizza along with the kid's penne with meatball, and everything was made well and absolutely delicious!! I will definitely be ordering from here again as well as passing the recommendation forward.

Meatballs were great. Large, stuffed with cheese, and flavorful.

Margherita pie with pepperoni was one of the best I've ever had.

Chicken parm was very good. 3 large pieces of chicken. Cooked well. Sauce was delicious. Lots of cheese.

We ate here for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely come back to dine again. The food was very tasty. The service was very friendly and attentive.

I ordered an Hawaiian personal pizza and had it delivered...delivery service was great and the pizza was outstanding, one of the best I've ever had! Paper thin, crispy crust and all the toppings were perfectly cut/crumbled. Delicious!

Amazing addition to downtown Dunellen. Il Forno serves a large variety of wood oven pizzas and classic Italian dishes. The new space is bright and inviting. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We tried the calamari, Caesar salad, chicken Marsala and chicken piccata. Great music and fun vibe. Congratulations to brothers Luis, Juan and the whole team. Highly recommend!

If you’re looking for a good slice and great service- this is your place. The food is fresh, delicious and full of flavor. The service was great! We ordered two pies and they brought out amazing sauce for us to dip our crust. The crust was so good it didn’t need any sauce but we sure did enjoy it! It’s family friendly and very clean. The prices are great! We will sure go back!

The tri color pizza and the eggplant Rollatini are both super fire I mean real good It was my first time here me and my girl walked over I live next door and the whole vibe is definitely there’re for sure. I’ve had every pizzeria in town and this place has its own style and the food I had tonight you know when you taste it it was made with pure love… btw I’m not the type to really leave a review but I just had to after the meal I had tonight it was a must.

Second time this week here pizza did not disappoint therefore I came to try it out for actual dinner Veal parmigiana Was definitely delicious kids had desert which looked really good as well. Highly recommend it here

Welcome to Dunellen. A top pizza town contender. Meals are well priced and portions leave you with a full belly or a to go box. Liea and Robert were very welcoming, service with a smile. Its BYOB for those that like to have a little Pino n pasta.

Delicious wood fired pizza This is the best restaurant in Dunellen since Chan’s Garden closed decades ago. (I’m born and raised here). Love to see downtown being revitalized with places like this. Also love the Dunellen photo collage. One tweak: place needs shades on parking lot side to block hideous lights out there.

What’s with the “bread”? Why don’t they have normal bread like every other Italian place in the world. Do people actually enjoy their pizza dough bread? It’s not good.

Everything else is amazing. But the bread irks me! Please fix this.

If you haven’t eaten at Il Forno, you are truly missing a treat! Whenever I come here, Rob and May are ALWAYS here to greet me with a smile and BIG welcome! I feel at home whenever I’m here. From the wood fired pizza, amazing garlic bread, delicious soups and salads and hearty entrees, I have not had a meal yet that I would not recommend. So now that you’ve read my review, what are you waiting for!???? Head on over to Il Forno, I’m sure Rob and May will be waiting!

My wife and I have been waiting for this spot to open up, and it did not disappoint. Got to meet the owners Robert and Maelynn who were super kind and provided excellent service!

The Fra Diavolo Pizza was loaded with calamari, shrimp, and scallops. The sauce was perfectly spicy, (but not too hot). The meatballs and sauce were excellent as well. Looking forward to visiting again soon with a bottle of wine and trying their different pizzas!

Portions were really generous and prices were great. Got the calamari and it was so much and crispy. Also had the seafood pasta - delicious! Service was excellent. Love this new spot!

Great pizza. Awesome lunch specials. Can't wait to come back. Definitely check this place out, you won't leave hungry
