We stopped through Albany on our way home from Killington. Online said best lunch in town and I AGREE! Group of 5 all enjoyed our lunch/brunch. $5 surprise mimosas on a Monday and all day brunch and lunch options. Something for everyone in your group. Service was great at the front coffee bar and the waiter at our table. If you like old houses you'll enjoy the history of the house featured on the menu. Would recommend 👌🏻

Had an excellent brunch at Iron Gate Cafe on a Saturday recently. Definitely take advantage of the wait list on their website on the weekend since it gets very busy; we got on the wait list 30 minutes ahead of our arrival and only had to wait about 5 minutes when we arrived.

The staff was super friendly and provided excellent service. We got some brunch cocktails to start (bloody mary and the Irish coffee special they had that day) and both were great. The food was just as good, can't recommend the different eggs benedict dishes highly enough. The sundown was particularly delicious - we loved the roasted half sweet potato paired with the slightly spicy hollandaise and pickled red onions, and the side of cornbread we added was definitely worth it. Even better - despite the restaurant being full during our time there, the food came out in less than 10 minutes after ordering. We will absolutely be back should we find ourselves in the Albany area again!

Go to the Iron Gate Cafe for a delicious Capital District breakfast or brunch. The service is great and there are gluten free and vegan options. The atmosphere is old world charm with original stain-glass windows and doors.

This brunch was phenomenal. I loved the Iron Gate eggs benedict with the pepper jack hollandaise. The maple turkey sausage was great. My friend's cornrbead was delicious. The hash browns were excellent. A new favorite to return to when I next visit Albany!

Love everything about this place! The atmosphere was GORGEOUS, inside is like someone's home. Food was DELICIOUS, SERVICE was amazing , Sam was our server and she was really nice. Highly recommend!

My mom & I ate breakfast here everyday for 3 days straight. Our Airbnb was just a few short blocks and we were so pleased to find this gem. The restaurant is beautiful inside & out, everyone was so kind & attentive, the food & drinks were delicious!!!! AND they are dog friendly 🐶 We had Shannon as our waitress twice and she was absolutely the best!!! She even remembered us from our 1st day there. I highly recommend the apple cider mimosa!

The place was busy from when we arrived to when we left.
The service was really great. The atmosphere is great and it’s really well decorated with Elvis themes everywhere.
The food and the drinks were delicious. The prices were pretty decent. It was a great experience overall.

Very nice atmosphere, very large and spacious. nice outdoor sitting with lots of plants and flowers and fountain. environment was better than food, but very nice spot. you will be satisfied.

We called ahead for a table for six 30 minutes before closing on Christmas Eve (Sorry!) after picking up family from the airport for the holiday. Despite being so close to end of day, we couldn’t have received more welcoming and gracious service, even with our rambunctious little ones.

The food was delicious and fresh and the place is so charming. We’ll be sure to return the next time we’re in Albany. The best service we’ve had in a bit, and it was definitely noticed and appreciated.

Great little cafe in DT Albany on Washington Ave. Love the whole set up and look of this place, from entry to dining. Reminds me of the inside of a brownstone in Sunset Pk BK that I once knew well. Been here twice, x2 diff servers, both were great and super friendly. I travel for work, and LOVE when I can find a spot like this local to where im staying. I'm also on a life long search, for the world's best eggs Benedict, the Iron Gate eggs Benny is certainly top 5 in my book.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Came here quite often before having my baby and came back! Saw our wonderful waitress that we had several times before I delivered who greeted us and our baby with the loveliest smile! Food is amazing and so is the company! 💙💙

Lovely place for brunch. We tried the French toast with brie and raspberry jam which was really good. Hands down the best French toast we have ever tasted.
The special cheesecake pancake was also really good.
The savory dishes were good too, but definitely would recommend the sweet dishes more.

Absolutely amazing food, ambience and service. Very very busy so come early or if you have a party of at least 5 make a reservation day of online. My only critiques are the bar does not have tequila for real Palomas and it does not have hashbrowns as a side.

Wow! Wow! wow!
I had heard about this cafe from family and friends but today I went and experienced it for myself. First, it stays full. Call ahead and put your name on the waitlist. We did not and had an hour wait (which was fine for us today). Next, customer service is great. The staff is pleasant and professional. Foid came fairly quickly and it was DELECTABLE. I was in a group of six and each person thoroughly enjoyed what they ordered. We recommend the following:
Brie French Toast, Mother Clucker, Black Bean Burger, Ultimate Vegan Sandwich, and pancakes…

I left full and wanting more… I will be back again and again!

A delightful establishment and apparently well known in the district. Service is good, relaxed, and casual. The food is great; I have t been in busy times but I can understand how there'd be enough wanting to visit to cause wait times.

Lizzy at the front is awesome! She was so welcoming and accommodated us without any delay. The food and atmosphere is great. We stopped on our way to Burlington so were slightly rushed, but next time we’ll definitely take our time.

Great meal, a great setting - we joined the waiting list which said 30-40 minutes but upon arrival we were seated right away.

Food was great, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. A nice brunch, ate outside - a memorable meal, would love to come back.

So thankful to have found this gem of a cafe after walking from the Capital👍
It was like an oasis in the hardscape city setting.
Such a calm and relaxing setting.
We did not order food, but beverages only.
Cold cappacino was perfect for a warm day and the maple something, something was tasty tho a bit too sweet for my liking.

Great Atmosphere and Awesome Food

I first visited the Iron Gate Cafe in October with my realtor so I was quick to suggest it to my husband as we were considering a local restaurant for lunch.

The Iron Gate offers quality food and great service in a unique and comfortable setting. They still had covid safety measures in place as staff, for the most part, wore masks over their noses and offered a scannable QR code menu; physical menus available upon request.

For this visit, we ordered the Kickin' Chicken and Chicken Club sandwiches which both came with fries. Our server suggested subbing fried chicken on the Club which was a good suggestion.

You'll see in the pictures, the chicken breasts had a beautiful brown, crispy crust and were still tender and juicy. Their fries, while light on seasoning, appear to be double fried them giving them a wonderfully crisp crunch and soft center.

Our server was helpful in answering our questions and providing suggestions. She was extremely pleasant and helpful, checking in on us a couple of times during the course of our meal.

The restaurant itself has a wonderful atmosphere about it as the majority of the indoor dining spaces are in various rooms on the first floor of an old brownstone home. There is a small dining room in the back which isn't quite as impressive so try to get seated in the house. The outdoor dining spaces look inviting as well so I'm looking forward to warmer weather.

They have a nice selection of vegan and vegetarian options as well as a nice looking breakfast/brunch menu.
