Sweet Sue's Phoenicia

EXCELLENT BREAKFAST! While vacationing in the Catskills for Memorial Day, we stopped at Sweet Sue's. The service was fantastic and the food was unique and delicious. The eatery had a small town feel and the food was artisan and unlike traditional diners. Definitely worth stopping.

After years of eating at Phoenicia Diner, we decided to try a new brunch spot and I’m SO glad we found Sweet Sue’s! I just had the best pancakes. We got the flavorful monkey pancake and the smoked brisket hash. Both were delicious, hot, and made with fresh ingredients. Under new management, the atmosphere, service and food were spot on! We will definitely be back.

This place is a hidden gem, we drive nearly 2 hours to check it out. Made a day trip of it and this was a wonderful way to start the morning. They have the best staff, Kathy was our server but all were terrific. Hats off to the kitchen staff, literally the best Huevos Rancheros I’ve ever had. The homemade pickled jalapeños, the sauce, the beans and cojita cheese…Oh my! Plus the latkes with house made smoked salmon was incredible too. The waffles, pancakes were all amazing and we can’t wait to go again. Thank you all for a wonderful experience.

Our first time to Sweet Sue’s and it did not disappoint. This latest culinary edition to Phoenicia is fantastic! A new/old establishment beloved by many in the past; the current owner has done everything right. We went for the classic, and I hear, famous pancakes which were perfectly fluffy without being dry, clearly freshly made and so big I couldn’t finish. Sides of bacon and chicken sausage added to the yum, and a wicked, muddled ginger + lemon mocktail completed the meal. We will definitely be back!

Pleasant surprise addition to Phoenicia. Don’t know why I missed it but luckily found this cute cafe on the main retail strip in town. The coffee is locally roasted and worth the Java jolt. The veggie omelette and summer peach cobb salad was amazing. And pastries are a must. This will be my go to stop every time I am in the area.

Been an occasional diner the past two decades. Good to see new owners have maintained the delicious Sue’s legacy pancakes along with a larger dining room.

The best pancakes and rancheros we’ve ever had! Latke potato pancakes were amazing and freshest coffee from a local roaster to top it all off. We came back twice during our stay in Phonecia.

It’s on our list to come back again! Thank you for a great experience.

The town of Phoenicia is a hidden gem. Sweet Sue's is known for it's pancakes and they're are plentiful (try the cornmeal type) so don't get the full order unless you're very hungry. Service is also on point and friendly!

Visiting the area from NYC for some hiking and can honestly say I've never had a breakfast this good in a very long time. Everything homemade, generous portions, and great service. The house sausage and chorizo hash are amazing. Going back for mothers day!

Sweet Sue's is about the pancakes. I usually get the buttermilk ones but they have pancake variations to satisfy everyone. The pancakes fill your plate and are delicious and fluffy. I also got an egg and sausage patties as sides. Everything was cooked to perfection.

My daughter is obsessed with their pancakes, but I must say, the Huevos Rancheros were so good I dreamt about them that night. They’re perfect, literally perfect!

Visiting the area for a wedding, we came to Sweet Sue’s based on the reviews. We were not let down at all. The service was excellent, Kathy was so friendly and personable. I had ordered the Chicken and Waffles and hands down the chicken was some of the best I had ever had. I also ordered a side of bacon. It was absolutely amazing, the chef smokes it himself. My partner had pancakes with a side of bacon as well. He loved it.
Will be sure to come again before we leave and will for sure come back in the future.

The pancakes are huge. I'd say get 1-2 pancakes with a side of the chorizo hash. I got the red monkeys pancakes with chocolate chips. It was really good. Make sure you have cash because they don't take cards.

Sweet Sue's is phenomenal! Everything we've eaten here has been incredible (strawberry monkey pancakes, chocolate pancakes, chili/labneh eggs, and mushroom sandwich). They also have excellent coffee. Dining here is a delightful experience. We sat outside both times and they were kind and welcoming of our dog and brought him cold, fresh, water. Definitely worth checking out!

Known for their dozen varieties of pancakes, we tried egg dishes. Asparagus omelet and the chorizo egg dishes were both very good. First breakfast I've had where the toast was the star, most amazing toast I've ever had.

My partner and I where in the area for a wedding. The food (pancakes, bacon, chick and waffles) was amazing! I can't say enough about the bacon to be honest! Our waitress Kathy was amazing, she was so welcoming!!! Seriously 5 stars! I think we would make the 4 hr drive again just to eat here!

The food was so good at Sweet Sue's that I had to keep ordering a different dish every 10 minutes and everything was spectacular. This is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time and everything about it deserves 10 Stars, the atmosphere, the service, the food, was impeccable. I want to shout out the lady behind the register with all the tattoos I apologize for forgetting your name but she was so kind and had a beautiful smile and makes a really good coffee way better than Starbucks or Dunkin' Donut. And also shout out to the waitress with the blonde hair she was so patient and so kind. She deserves a $50 tip at every table she goes to. 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend.

I just adore Sweet Sue’s. The staff are so nice, the space so airy and cozy, but best of all THE FOOD. You haven’t lived until you have had their world famous pancakes using recipes inherited by the original Sue herself, the amazing waffles n chicken, the thick sliced bacon and their insane Sat night BBQs. They have a smoker and REALLY know how to use it. Serious ribs and brisket and more. I also really enjoy their coffee service by talented local roasters Heavy Feather. This place has been here for decades but is now under new ownership who are respectful to its history and it’s high regard by pancake lovers but also keep trying cool new things. Come in the summer and sit on the porch. You won’t be sorry.

Lovely little diner/Cafe. Fast friendly service - with great food! Set in Cute little town to stroll through after!
