Mekong Cafe

Mekong Cafe has finally opened their doors today for lunch after construction & permit approvals pushed back its original end-November opening date...yahoo!

The outside of the restaurant still needs little work, but the inside is awesome! With lots of windows and high ceilings, the space looks very big and open. This new location can fit almost 200 people! Loved their interior decorations, I personally found the pictures very soothing and relaxing.

The whole staff team is great! Very friendly and attentive.

Now the food...what new can I say? It’s all the good old tasty foods :P I went there with my younger kid, so ordered #10: Beef Broccoli and #12: Chicken Drunken Noodles from their lunch specials, and a Thai iced tea. They were good, but I’m really a big fan of their authentic dishes and can’t wait to go back soon and try them out.

Mekong Cafe our favorite Thai joint in Utah! Having been to Thailand, I can tell you that this food is as authentic as it gets in the state of Utah (though they don't have Khao Soi if you're looking for that). Everything is delicious and has that home cooked taste and feel. The Thai family that runs the place is awesome. They are super nice and helpful. My favorites are the Gai Masaman Curry and the Gang Keow Wan Gai (Green curry chicken) but everything is good! This place deserves big praise. Totally worth a visit if you're looking for good Thai in the area.

Had lunch there with friends. Service was quick and food was good. We got Tom yum goong soup pot which was a lot for 4 ppl so we had to take the rest home. They also have a nice lunch menu. We ordered the hot level of spiciness for soup and it was very good. For our food, we ordered the highest level called authentic and it was really hot and we loved it. (For reference we are Indians who usually eat hot food). Overall, a pretty good experience.

This has been one of my all time favorite restaurants for the past five years. The new location is bigger, less crowded, and a great atmosphere. Brenda and the staff are always attentive and friendly. You MUST TRY the bbq beef. It comes with a delicious Thai spice sauce and delicious sticky rice. The quality is always consistent and I’m never disappointed!

Can you fall in love with thai food? Mekong makes me believe so.

Edit: they have opened their new location. Parking is no longer an issue (common reason for low reviews). They are still working on adjusting to the bigger location but I know they will succeed and continue to be my favorite place for curry. My personal favorite is the green curry. So happy they are open again

Mekong is hands-down my favorite Thai place in the valley. I was very excited to get to visit their new location that is much more spacious and easily accessible than their last location.

The service was attentive and the food is amazing. The two dishes that for me are must-tries if you visit Mekong Cafe are the tom kha gai and the waterfall beef salad. Nobody in the valley makes tom kha gai quite like Mekong Cafe. You really need to try it.

I am here again today. Food as good as my last visit. I wish they let customer order rice without extra charge.

I thought it was great! I had the vegetarian platter, the iced tea, and the mango sticky rice. The sauce of the plater made me want more, had a new mushroom in it that I never had before. The tea was so good! And I was skeptical about the mango sticky rice (more because I’ve never had it before) but it was delicious! They let you know that they only had one server so I wasn’t worried about always being checked on. But even the service was great! Over I loved the experience and will be going back 😄

New location is beautiful and spacious. Food is still great. Our family came here for lunch and ordered several dishes (Chicken Green Curry (medium), Pad Thai, BBQ Beef, Waterfall Beef Salad, Papaya Salad (medium), and a soup. The portions were fair and the spice was just right for my palate. The green curry was flavorful and had a spiciness that slowly crept up.

I enjoyed the waterfall beef and green curry but wished I had requested that the beef in our dishes be prepared more rare.

Definitely worth a try!

Love this place! Their Pad See Ew and Pad Thai are my favorites. Recently I feel like their portions have gotten smaller, but that might be best for me since I tend to eat too much.

If you haven't yet, give this place a try. Good food, good atmosphere, good everything!

Love this place. Food is excellent; I order shrimp soup and their curry multiple times. Their green curry is delightfully authentic: Mild spice level for the Green is still a bit spicey so I suggest getting extra coconut milk on the side if you think you need it. Their "Authentic" Red and Yellow curries are the perfect spice level for people who want to taste spiciness but can be sensitive to it:)
I love that they offer a distint range of heat levels and also offer the "authentic" version.

Fabulous curries here! If you like hot, I recommend the red and green curries. They will even make Authentic (mild, med, hot, authentic) or 2x Authentic in heat if you ask. Also have really great lunch specials!

The Thai chicken wings are excellent and great starters for lunch or dinner!

I'm so happy to live so close to such great Thai food!! Everything was delicious and beautifully presented! The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing. You can tell this restaurant is loved and well taken care of, it's very neat and clean. I will definitely be a regular here! 😊

Ordered the drunken noodles with the max spice level . The spice was perfect and the flavor was awesome. Portion size was also perfect. I ordered pickup and the food was ready on time and was still hot by the time I got home. 10/10 highly recommend

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I have Thai almost on a weekly basis and this is the best Thai food I've ever had. Red curry was very flavorful and authentic and the mango rice was a perfect dessert to finish off with.

The new building looks great inside and out, and the food was delicious. Had the green curry chicken, the meat was tender and flavorful, and the vegetables and spices in it added to it. They're not messing around with their spicy flavors. I had "hot," which I think is 2 out of 3 on their heat index (or maybe 3 of 4). It definitely was quite hot. If you don't like heat, stick with medium or none.

Me and my cousin come here every now and then, before the covid-19 broke out. They used to have a duck Curry that was killer, the new location doesn't have it. Their mango sticky rice is also really good, worth trying it once but not again because of the price. Really good food though. Love this place.

We've been eating here for 20 Years!. One of the best Green Curry Chicken's in town. Their Pad Thai is excellent. The Thai BBQ chicken is amazing. The coconut soup is so savory and fantastic. Don't forget the Mango stickey rice for dessert.
