Unbelievably nice! I had a little issue with my daughter’s priority bicycle (brake snapped out of place for some reason). Owner fixed it and adjusted her bike right on the spot at no charge.

I traveled for 5 hours to this shop to pick up a bike that was advertised online. I talked and texted with AJ for a few days prior to my arrival and couldn’t have been happier when I got there. He had the bike ready to go, took the time to set it up for my height/weight and ensured everything was perfect for me! I would 100% recommend Down Cycles to anyone. Overall it was just a great experience, the shop is great and AJ was fantastic to deal with- he’s a super cool guy, very friendly and I’m sure a great person to meet out on the trails!

AJ is by far one of the most Realest, Humble, Knowledgeable humans i have ever met. I drive an hour one way just to have him work on my bike. (Purchased a Scott Ransom from him) I'm really hard on my bike and man does he know what he's doing! Hands down the best bike shop I've ever been to. I drive 30 minutes out of the way every time I have an issue because I know that when I get something fixed there it will be the first and last time I have that problem. AJ is a fantastic mechanic and straight shooter who will tell you the deal exactly how it is and get your bike working perfectly. Cannot recommend enough.

I purchased a Mt. Bike for my son in December from AJ. He explained everything, took the time to do comparisons and really helped me feel confident about my decision. A few months later I was in the market for a new bike. Even though he did not have the style and size (xl) in stock within my price range. He continued to keep me up to date weekly with what was coming in. In the end, I ended up purchasing from another shop as some bikes are harder to come by due to the pandemic. Even though we couldn’t do business, his customer service and knowledge really impressed me and I recommend his shop 100%.

I purchased my bike from the shop about a month and a half ago. They recommended a great bike that I've taken out a half dozen times already and I love it. Service was great. AJ and Phileno(hope I spelled it right) are very knowledgeable and courteous. AJ even serviced my bike after the break in period and made all the adjustments it needed.
I highly recommend this shop.

I haven't been to this bike shop yet but this guys responses to the cry babies is hilarious. 😆

Came into this shop last weekend after getting off of the local train and towards the beginning of a 30+ mile ride back into NYC. My cousin's bike was having some rear brake issues despite having been checked out the day before at a shop in Brooklyn. We really just found this shop by chance using a quick and desperate google search. The outside is small but they are clearly well stocked inside. Here we met AJ, who not only fixed the problem quickly and coached us on bike maintenance, but also gave us great local recommendations to change our planned course for a more scenic ride. He was right. The ride was amazing and my cousin's bike worked great on the return home.

I wish this shop were closer to where I live, but it's great to know that it is here and I couldn't recommend it strongly enough - nice people, great work, very cool vibes!

Great shop where experts and casual riders both get treated well. That's because crew actually love bikes and riding, and always want to enhance any riders experience. Buy a bike there and always be remembered and helped. You get a lot more than from buying a bike as an anon off a website. When it comes to advice I've learned not to doubt what they tell me. One of the better retail spots of any kind

TLDR: this is the kind of community bike shop I will recommend to anyone in the area for the rest of my life.

I went in with my beat up, unridable vintage Raleigh that had been sitting in the elements for the last seven months since I moved to Westchester from Brooklyn. They gave me a thorough and expert assessment of how much it would cost to repair. I explained to them that I was three months pregnant and just trying to get it into good working condition so I could sell it and buy baby things. I told them how I’d bought it in fair condition for $225 in Brooklyn right before the pandemic hit and everyone was buying road bikes, anticipating the subways would be out of service or dangerous to ride. The owner AJ told me the Raleigh in its current condition would be worth probably $50. He easily could have been an opportunist and quoted me a couple hundred dollars to get the bike into great condition, but he was sincere and said that it probably wouldn’t have been profitable for me. Instead he offered to GIVE me another old bike that was laying around the shop and that I could probably sell both for $150. He brought the bike out, gave me advice on how to sell it, from the description to posting the photos, and put it in my car for me. He was completely gracious and kind about it, saying he hoped the bike found a good home.

Even though I didn’t have my bike repaired here, I will patronize this shop for as long as it is open, and recommend to anyone in the area that they should support this business. It’s the kind of place that every community needs and deserves.

If you really want your bike tuned, inspected and ready for your style of riding this is the place to go. I and my buddy do mostly Down Hill riding and get free riding in at sprain in the off season, and to be honest every time we bought our bikes to AJ we could depend on him making sure the bike was ready for the demands of the trails at Mountain Creek A.K.A Diablo. PS I don't live close actually 25 miles away with bike shops in my area and still drive north to this shop. We have even noticed him testing the bike out himself hard to make sure all was tight, not many bike shops go that extra mile, he not only has over 2 decades of experience riding and working on these bikes he listens to your preferences which back in the day means a lot, the pandemic has put a lot of us in a different mindset, people forget we are all humans, Thats not A.J. , thanks for maintaining my bikes which I am still riding since 2007, a true craftsman of the bike world and your prices are fair.
