Food and service was great, especially being all the way out in cincy area. Atmosphere was mediocre, but not one to complain about. Their sushi definitely more on the expensive side when comparing to even the major cities, but one of the better end sushi places you can get.

Ando has been my absolute favorite restaurant for a few years now and in my opinion, the best sushi in the city. We often come here before leaving for a business trip or when returning from one. It's a very nice tradition we've started.

I recently went and had a lovely dinner there. Here's what I had:

Sushi:
Fatty Tuna nigiri
BBQ Unagi nigiri
Salmon Roll
Spicy Tuna Roll

Appetizers:
Gyoza
Beef Amiyaki (one of their current specials)

The meal was so good that I came back a couple days later and ate at the sushi bar again. I tried the Matcha Mascarpone cheesecake and added Anko (red bean) on top which was phenomenal.

The Ootoro/fatty tuna nigiri is my favorite, it is so buttery and the yuzu kosho that comes on top adds a nice citrus pepper finish.

I look forward to the next time I eat there. Thank you so much for all these delicious meals over the years!

Authentic Japanese food - ma and pa restaurant. Many locals consider this the best Japanese restaurant in the greater Cincinnati area. The sushi is slightly expensive and would be a good idea for a celebration of some kind. There are cheaper options such as the udon or curry as well.

The good quality of ingredients are very good and they had some really great touches such as shiso in the umeboshi roll. The deserts as well are a gem and a departure from the usual Mochi ice cream seen in the usual Asian fusion places. The service was a little slow and the ambiance could be updated. Perhaps that’s the charm.

Ando is my favorite sushi restaurant in Cincinnati. I don’t usually trust sushi in a land locked city (Ohio River does not count), and I think sushi is bad when it tastes too fishy. I’ve tried a lot of places in Cincinnati, and Ando is the only sushi that I will get in town. The service was also great. We had a long wait once, which is understandable, and the owner gave us free edamame.

Wow. 10/10. I have eaten at every sushi restaurant in the Cincy area and this place takes the cake! Everything was so fresh! Service was perfect, it was fun to sit at the bar and chat with the guys behind the magic! I can never eat at another sushi restaurant except Ando!

I ordered fatty tuna, fatty fatty tuna, snapper, uni roll, yellow fin roll and spicy spicy tuna roll.

The best Japanese restaurant in Greater Cincinnati for a good reason -- it has the freshest fish you will ever find in the region, a variety of imported fish, seasonal specials from different parts of Japan. Save some room for dessert -- they have the best homemade desserts -- whether traditional or fusion, eg matcha cheesecake and Okinawan brown sugar ice cream. It is expensive but well worth every cent for that special evening! It gets busy during the dinner rush - reservations are highly recommended!

No other Japanese restaurant in Cincinnati can touch them!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Our server Maya was astounding and made the experience amazing as it was me and little sisters first time there and the food was mind blowing! This will be my go to place for Japanese from now on!

The Omakase and cake desserts were delicious. Authentic Japanese food (we lived in Los Angeles, Seattle, and have visited Japan multiple times). Very nice staff. Will come back.

Ando is a gem. They are the only sushi establishment in the greater Cincinnati area that, I feel, delivers the highest quality products and traditional sushi experience. Ando has a variety of fish that far exceed a standard sushi establishment. Beyond that, a number of dishes are on offer that change seasonally and are divine! Last but not least they make/bake a number of their own desserts, from cheesecake to creme brulee! Oh and the cherry on top BYOB!
Ando is one of my favorite places in the city, and I love it for special occasions, be sure to make a reservation!

I've been coming here for few times now. The best sushi in Cincinnati, very authentic. The fish is tasty, fresher than other sushi restaurants in Cincinnati.
This place reminds me of sushi in Tokyo, Japan.
The service was quick, friendly. The price is comparable to other "so-so" sushi place around Cincinnati.

I BARELY write a review, but I feel like I need to share this.
BEST SUSHI & SASHIMI ever had in Cincy! They are soooooo fresh and tasty! I was struggling to find a decent sushi restaurant in Cincy after moving here about a year ago from South Korea. Finally found one!
The restaurant is small and not have like fancy atmosphere, but food is so awesome. (I had sushi for 2 = $65) And if you have a space left to have some dessert, please try to homemade Macha cake. I didn't expect much but the combination with chocolate + vanilla + Macha = perfect!
The owner is very friendly, so I just had full of happy memory on my Birthday. We will definitely visit again soon! (need to save some money, it's a bit pricey :) )

We had a very nice time at Ando Japanese Restaurant. The food was terrific! We were able to try some new things we hadn't tried before.

Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was fun to talk with him about what he liked and what he hadn't quite been able to try himself yet. All in all, we had a fun, friendly time!

I lived in Japan for some time and this restaurant has great food and a more authentic Japanese menu than most. Very good food and broad selection. Try the bento box or sushi.

I don't know why it took me say long to try this place. It's very amazing! Sashimi was so fresh and delicious. Monkfish liver was a must try. Make sure you make reservation, there's always a wait there!

Delicious, authentic Japanese food. The sashimi dinner was very fresh and incredibly delicious, and they have a special appetizer menu that rotates regularly. The hamachi kama was excellent, just lightly salted with tender, flaky flesh. I finished off with the matcha cheesecake, which was rich subtly sweet. I'll definitely be paying Ando another visit when I'm in the area!

There is no question that Ando has the best, most interesting fish choices in Cincinnati and there is nothing else even close. Yes, it is more expensive than most but the quality and variety is more than elsewhere.

The one star down on food is because sometime the o-toro comes out way too firm and other times like butter. When it’s super firm it is not as enjoyable. I don’t know if this is an issue with the cutting or what.

The tempura was light and crispy, the fish was fresh, and the service was friendly. They were very busy on a Friday eve, so I’d strongly suggest making a reservation.

love the Uni here because of the fresh!A small and classic Japanese restaurant but with very good food! You may need to make a reservation before you go to order sukiyaki. A little bit expensive but it's the right place to go
