My husband and I decided that our wills needed to be updated after 40 years and called around for a referral. One large firm in the city recommended Sauter Law. And I'm glad they did.

Thomas Sauter and Jamie Shimp are wonderful. When my mother had a medical emergency that left her with a terminal illness, I was lost with what to do. The Sauter Law Firm was such a valuable asset. They guided me through the daunting estate planning process. Thomas and Jamie went above and beyond by swiftly meeting me at the hospital to sign power of attorney documents with my mother and came to my home when she was on hospice care to complete the will. When she unfortunately passed, the law fim covered all aspects of submiting documents to probate court to transfer the estate. Thomas and Jamie were compassionate and professional during terrible circumstances. Both are well informed and educated on all aspects of Elder Law. Their assitant, Peggy Braun was also helpful with providing us copies of documents and communication. My family greatly appreciated their assistance during such a stressful experience. Jamie Shimp is professional, direct, has a wide breadth of legal knowledge, and is efficient with time management.
His billing was also fairly priced, and NOT riddled with "email review fees", "conferencing fees", or "deadline management fees." (I felt we were actually provided a service and reasonably charged for that service.)

Services provided: My mother passed away while her acquaintance was living in her house for free. Jamie provided us with avenues for avoiding probate, navigating my mother's will, and transferring my mother's property to my name and all related legal matters with the county. Due to the nature of the acquaintance who had moved into my mother's house, I legally became a landlord to a tenant who was not required to pay rent; however, I was required to pay for all of their utilities and the mortgage of the property and landlord insurance. The "tenant" refused to vacate the property. Due to becoming the landlord with a tenant, I was also not permitted into my mother's house to go through my mother's possessions after she passed away. Jamie then provided us with the cleanest possible route for the eviction process, to include all state required legal notices, and formulated strategies to protect us from any types of liability lawsuits that the "tenant" could possibly place against us.

If it wasn't for Jamie Shimp, I could've lost my mother's house or had a squatter take claim of all of my mother's properties regardless of her will.

Jamie was very knowledgeable & helpful explaining everything we needed to know about the preparation of our estate planning. He took the time to make sure all our questions were answered & that we understood everything before final documents were prepared.

Not familiar with who to select to help establish our Will, we selected the Sauter Law Firm primarily based on convenience of location. As it turned out, Jamie and Thomas are both extremely knowledgeable regarding probate, Wills and Trusts, clearly explaining the pros and cons of both and the reasons and purposes for selecting one or the other, or both. We knew very little about Trusts but, after they explained the advantages, a Trust turned out to be exactly what made the most sense for us. Their firm is a small firm with a personal touch which made us very comfortable working with them. They are happy to answer questions without nickel and diming you - we very much appreciated being able to ask questions without the fear of getting a bill for doing so.

Working with the Sauter Law Firm was far better than my husband and I could have imagined. They are a calm, friendly, responsive and patient team whose excellent advice accommodated all our needs and desires. I would highly recommend them to friends and family.
