Dr Cahoy, while predominantly a pediatrics ortho surgeon, was outstanding! Due to the emergency nature of my wife's ankle surgery, we could not have asked for a better draw than his expertise, approach and care. From start to finish, his attentiveness and execution was amazing. His staff at Ortho Affiliates has also been excellent! Could not give a stronger recommendation for ortho care if needed! Very grateful to have had Dr Cahoy oversee my wife's care and surgery.

Dr. John Cahoy is FANTASTIC. My son broke both bones in his arm and throughout the entire process (from the ER waiting room to the operating room to the follow-up appointments), Dr. Cahoy was always available and took the time to answer any questions my son and I had. He has a wonderful bedside manner, and his staff is just as fantastic.

We were very happy to have Dr. Cahoy care for my son in the ER with a broken arm. He was very informative and nice when talking with me about needed to be done. And even provided me and my son with his cellphone number, just in case we had any questions or concerns. Highly recommend!

My 11 year old son broke his dominant wrist (radius) during a soccer game on a Saturday afternoon. Dr. Cahoy was not even on call but came to Emerson within 90 minutes of the ER doctor alerting him. He was kind and comforting to my son. He was positive and informative to my husband and me. He was great on each follow up visit answering any and all of our questions and the path to recovery was very well laid out for us. I highly recommend him!

I cannot recommend Dr. Cahoy highly enough! I had immediate confidence in him the moment I met him and I remained extremely impressed by his expertise throughout the process of healing my broken wrist. I appreciated the time he took to explain what my options were and to update me on my progress during each visit. He respected and honored my preferences throughout the process. I felt well informed every step of the way. In addition, he was extremely personable and a pleasure to speak with.

We met Dr. Cahoy in the Emerson ER when my little one (1 year old) fractured his femur. It was a crazy, difficult day. The ER seemed pretty calm, but I could hear that we were not the only ones there for broken bones, undoubtedly adding to the caseload that Dr. Cahoy already had in the OR that day. He was extremely busy, but he came in to introduce himself and answer the questions we had about my son's injury. He only stayed maybe 2-3 minutes, but we must have fired off about 10-15 questions. He answered them directly and efficiently, without digression, and was on his way to help other patients and schedule us in. And I really appreciated it! Having been talking to people all day, we were pretty exhausted, and quick answers were exactly what we needed.

When it was time for my son to go in to the OR for casting, it was rushed and a little scary for me. I was allowed to accompany my son until the point that he fell asleep. People were scattering around and they had to administer general anesthesia, so I was definitely nervous. But Dr. Cahoy obviously wasn't, and he took a brief second to catch my attention and show me the waterproof "pants" that would be going under my son's spica cast. We are all in masks, but his eyes were kind and calm, despite how quickly he was moving, and I felt reassured by his level frame of mind. I really appreciated the interest he had, even in that rushed OR environment, in sharing with me what my son was going to be wearing.

It only took 30-45 minutes for the casting to be complete. I was thrilled that it went so quickly! Dr. Cahoy came out to tell me that everything went great, my son was awake and recovering, and he explained a little bit about the cast and care. Then he sent me a text to give me his cell number so that I could contact him at any time! I've never had a doctor do that for me. That was exceptionally meaningful to me.

We had an overnight stay, and I believe he checked in with us one more time before we left the hospital. The next day, he sent a text to see how my son was doing. It was very obvious to me that Dr. Cahoy really cares about his patients.

We had two follow up visits. One was only about 3 days after casting, and one was to actually remove the cast. Our interactions with Dr. Cahoy and all of his staff were extremely positive. His medical assistants are kind and calm, truly top notch! My sincerest thanks goes to Dr. Cahoy and his staff for their expert care!

Great experience with Dr. Cahoy in the ER with my pre-teen’s broken arm. He was great at explaining the surgery details, answering questions, and assuring my son that everything would be okay. He is a calm and knowledgeable pediatric orthopedist who we definitely recommend.

Not your average Orthopedist. - Staff and Dr. Cahoy (rhymes with Ahoy) were very friendly. Made my child feel very comfortable (Myself as well). Super informative and UNRUSHED!!! Took time, explained well, and were timely in all of our appointments. Clearly and expert and has astute clinical judgement and presence. He helped us in an emergency which was great, but you should select him for your care if you have that option. We will.

Ours was a Tuesday suppertime biking accident with a slipped growth plate (AKA Broken bone) in my sons wrist. He was in pain but tolerable to drive him with his wrist packed in ice to the Emerson Hospital Emergency Room. Dr. Cahoy was not the Orthopedist on call that evening but in addition to being able to work with adults, he was also a Pediatric Specialist. After we got a diagnosis from the ER Team (took about an hour) he was called and was there in about 90 minutes. He set the bone and applied the cast. Gave us his cell phone if we had any questions to contact him! Followup was a breeze over the next few weeks. Can't praise Dr. Cahoy enough. Excellent!

We first met Dr. Cahoy and his NP Logan when our newborn had bilateral hip dysplasia. She was in a Pavlock splint for months, that was adjusted frequently. We had an amazing experience with this hip dysplasia team. They answered all of these new anxious parents questions and concerns, they were patient and told us upfront the plan and the whys. I would highly recommend them, the westford office staff was also so helpful and considerate.

Dr. Cahoy treated my child and was great! He was always calm, relayed scary information in a clear way that even my 10-year-old could understand, and answered our questions thoroughly and respectfully. My child's injury is better and I would definitely go to Dr. Cahoy again (though I hope I don't have to :-)

I have been working with Dr. Cahoy and his team for the past 6 months. They have been amazing – incredibly knowledgeable, kind and supportive. After exploring surgical and non-surgical solutions to my broken Tibia/Fibula, I elected to go with Dr. Cahoy and the non-surgical option which I understand is not necessarily the traditional solution for adult breaks. Dr. Cahoy explained the process thoroughly and every milestone came exactly as he described. In addition, Dr. Cahoy and his team have always been available and responsive when I have had a question or concern. While the recovery has taken a bit longer than the surgical route, I am thrilled with the results and happy not to have the pin in my leg. I would highly recommend Dr. Cahoy for his orthopedic knowledge and skills. He and his team are also super nice people which makes such a difference when you are recovering from an injury.

Dr. Cahoy has a very pragmatic approach that I appreciate. I was referred to him when I returned to Massachusetts following a devastating ski injury and surgeries to my tibea plateau. When other doctors were recommending caution, he was very clear that he wasn't ever going to tell me what I could or couldn't do: but rather encouraged me to listen to my body and go ahead and do the activities that brought me joy and allowed me to live as normally as I could. Then he'd partner with me on ways to manage pain or deal with any impact that those choices might have. I appreciate that!

They scheduled us for a same day appointment. Came with X-rays , the doctor reviewed them and then told us we would get a cast. It was quick, friendly and easy

Professional, knowledgeable and willing to dialogue about nuanced questions related to changes in therapy over time. Approaches student-athlete as responsible person in charge of her own decisions. Excellent and rare.
