The staff was very helpful. Initially was interested in one dog but adoption was delayed due to having to reschedule his vet appointment. I brought my older dog in to make sure they were compatible during the delay. The staff kept me informed during the process. Ultimately wound up adding two to my pack!

We adopted our 2 cats and our sweet kalypso (german shephard)from this shelter. She was the sweetest and most protective dog. Sadly, we only had her a year due to having kidney issues. I'm not sure what the low reviews are about because the 3 times we have gone to adopt our furbabies, ALL of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Even helped ease kalypso into our car as she was very skittish at first. I believe what they do is amazing, and they can only do so much . I am sure they would love to take in all of the strays brought there, but they can't due to overcrowding and careless breeders. Keep up the great work, fayette County. We will see you soon, I am sure .

Despite all the reviews about people being rude and stuff I actually received a decent experience. There were no rude people or a rude black lady at the counter. The place is small and the animals there seem to be pretty sad but that’s expected from a shelter. We came here to adopt our cat, Elsa. They took a week to contact us back about the adoption application. When we got Elsa she came inside of a cardboard carrier box and she came with two cat beds and some cat food(enough to last for a week or two).

We adopted our new cat Milu (formerly Misha) from this shelter. The cat was in reasonably good health and very well socialized At 7 months. The person who helped us was very knowledgeable and friendly (she new the names of all the cats) as was the person who helped us checkout. One thing I really liked about this place is that they didn’t make the application process overly cumbersome. They asked the right questions but nothing more - one page. Other places are making it too difficult to adopt animals. To folks that have negative experiences with with shelters, I’d suggest volunteering or donating. Negative reviews don’t help these animals find homes and if you think something is seriously wrong google isn’t the place to look for recourse or remedy.

I had a completely different experience than the guy below did with Karol. She & Rani (the Director) were extremely helpful & professional, each step of the way. Karol brought a dog trap to my house when requested, came to check on it during the day while I was a work & came very early this morning when I called, after I found the 2 pit bulls we'd been trying to trap were in my backyard. (These dogs had been roaming around Fayetteville for the past 2-3 weeks.) Seeing the way Karol interacted with the dogs was incredible; she definitely has the knowledge & the heart needed for this important work. I'm also impressed with their commitment to finding loving homes for adoptable animals; using euthanasia only as a last resort. Big kudos to Rani Rathburn, Karol Padgett & the rest of the Fayette County Animal Control personnel!!

I can say from my experience with this shelter it was clean without horrible smells.I went the first time to see about a kitten.Left without one.But on my second visit I picked out the sweetest 2yr old cat.The staff were very compassionate and professional.I will defiantly go back.

We adopted two sweet cats from this shelter. They work so hard to care for the poor thrown away animals.
