You already know if the name is Gritz. Those gritz are deliciously perfect! We are local, but I would definitely recommend anyone visiting to get a "real" taste of McDonough! A step into history with intriguing framed real news paper articles from the New York Times of the Titanic, a hilarious article of President Clinton to local history. Breakfast & lunch - all I can say is YUM 😋

My first time here at this establishment….it was great…me and my wife smelled the food from outside so we decided to stop by for breakfast and give it a shot….it was seat yourself as you walk in an the environment was cool and calm…Ms.Kim was out waitress an she was amazing…she had a pretty smile and had great customer service skills….my wife ordered a biscuit cause she seen it on someone else’s plate and i decided to try it also…it was delicious…so I ordered the spinach & tomato & cheese omelette w/mushrooms & gravy & toast and the gravy was slapping…we will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu…

Great southern breakfast that was delicious with great portion sizes that I ended up having leftovers. The service was fast and friendly. I would 100% recommend stopping here if you are passing through like I did. It sits just outside the town square catty corner of their Courthouse. It has a small beautiful little park in the square and is surround with some cutes shops to check out before you are on your way.

I've been at my parent's home in McDonough for the holiday. They got breakfast for the family a few days from GRITZ. Just thought it was really sweet what they did for the kid's order. My parents really rave about how great this place is and the people who work there. Now I know why

We were in on a Sunday morning and enjoyed a wonderful meal. I had the five vegetable plate, and my daughter had the chopped steak. The sides were very flavorful and tasted homemade.
The service was wonderful.

My tastebuds were doing the happy dance! Great food, great service, and so clean👍🥳 Delicious biscuits, loved the grits (no pic), fluffy scrambled eggs, and crispy bacon made for a fun start to our day. Great job Wendy and kitchen crew! Thank you.

Loved it! It was a full Saturday, and I met a coworker there. The food was good and the service was amazing .. I'll be back!

Parking is a pain on the square but Gritz is worth the hassle.

Well we had a job in McDonough and we had heard about this restaurant thought we'd stop in for lunch
Well I'm glad we did. Love the down-home meat-and-three type place. Just down on good food and good people.
We had our service dog with us and she's a and they even gave her some sausage free because working dogs eat free. What fantastic think they also want to make sure she had water matter fact I took better care of her than us LOL.
So we had chicken and dumplings hashbrown casserole, beef liver and onions, chicken tenders, and a Reuben sandwich. Everything was perfect great flavor came out hot came up quickly and service was exceptional.
Definitely if you're in town please stop by this place he will not be disappointed.
Next time we're in mcdonough we're definitely stopping here.

Since moving here over 5 years ago, this has become my 'Go To' spot on the weekends. Excellent, Southern, comfort food.

GRITZ - McDonough’s best kept secret. This place offers a very friendly atmosphere, great guest services and some of the best staff! Kim is my personal favorite, always greeted with a warm smile and caring service. ❤ my KIM - we have great conversations!! The food is awesome!

Very lively atmosphere and the service was great! Our server was attentive and upbeat. We didn't wait long to be seated or to get our food. It was hot and fresh. I met a good friend of mine here for lunch and couldn't decide on breakfast or lunch, but we both ended up ordering lunch. He had the Saturday special of steak/gravy with okra and potatoes and said it wasn't bad. I had a taste for a burger thus week and figured it it'd be a good time to satisfy my hankering. I had the bacon cheese burger with onion rings. The rings are homemade and satisfying. I liked the thick breading, but it wasn't overly heavy. They tasted better with ketchup than with ranch. The burger wasn't horrible but was very dry. I had it with all the fixins of lettuce, tomato, and onion along with a little mustard, mayo and ketchup. The bun was soft and had a nice toast to it, thankfully, but it was definitely overcooked. Overall, it's a solid restaurant with plenty offerings to choose from. My first outing here was the Griffin location and the Cardiac Chicken Biscuit is FILLING and good. But, I'm a recent heart attack survivor so I'm slightly gunshy nowadays. I'd recommend this restaurant and would definitely come back. 4.5⭐

Food is off the chain 🤣🤣 OMG liver's and coleslaw is my favorite. Roast is always tender as well, great hospitality...

I love small town diners. The food is always good and they have the best staff. This place was perfect! They had all the best food choices for breakfast and my coffee never went dry. You couldn't ask for a better place or better service. I highly recommend it!

Definitely a hidden gem. Service is excellent and food was awesome. Husband and I tried it for breakfast on Wednesday and went back on Thursday for lunch. If you looking for something better than the normal, make this your next and last spot. Husband enjoyed the omelet and I enjoyed the cornbread hash breakfast. We found our go to spot. Prices are very reasonable. Thanks for the great food and service. See y'all soon.

We decided to get a bite to eat after church & stopped here to satisfy our appetites.
It was my 1st time & unfortunately, I had a headache !
The atmosphere definitely says “Hey, I’m a comfort food place !”…including the historic signage up on the walls.
Our wait wasn’t too bad for the time & size of the place.
I ordered the Reuben with Onion Rings (suggested by the waitress…who was wonderful !). It was good, but different than what I am used to.
The prices are pretty much average for what it is.
I’d like to go back when I can truly take in what this place has to offer !

Wow is all I can say. Gritz is a hidden gem with AMAZING FOOD & Service. Our server Wendy is a very attentive and sweet spirited person. We asked her favorites and we ordered them...They were amazingly GOOD!!! The FOOD , SERVICE, AND ATMOSPHERE was like no other place that I've ever been to. Southern Cooking and Charm at its BEST!!! I definitely recommend this resturant !!! It's worth the trip!!!

Great service. I will definitely be back. The waitresses are very friendly and helpful. They have a great egg white omelette. It wasn’t greasy like most egg white omelettes. Would love to see more variety in the omelettes and fillings options though. Good prices especially for being in the square.
