Looking to get outdoors and commune with nature? This spot is beautiful, natural, and engage your senses!! Cellphone signal is "spotty" based on your carrier service. Such a great spot to listen to the soothing sounds of a gurgling river/creek, visually take in all the scenery, and relax in peaceful, tranquil setting. One of many scenic spots along the Nantahala River.

Beautiful waterfall. One of the best “waterfall roads” in NC. Best way to travel the road is from Franklin to Highlands, but keep your eyes on the road! Road gets narrow and winding in places and there are some who like riding the road fast. Water levels were down, but the leaves were beautiful.

Really nice place to sit and relax. They have a place you can jump off and into the water and we saw people sliding down the rocks.

Gorgeous little place. It’s jagged rocks and hard to reach local may put some off. Which is fine not every place has to be overrun, but preserved. This is however, the classic summer nook. Ropes to climb up to seemingly precarious ledges to slide or jump off or simple relax and soak up the sun off one of the many smooth and gorgeous rocks. This pocket of nature is just one of the many gorgeous locales Highlands NC keeps tucked away through its narrow mountain paths.

Definitely an appropriate name for this falls! Be careful on the slick rocks and uneven terrain. There is a small turn-off that has a one person wide pathway leading to the main falls. They aren't as large as Dry Falls or some of the other surrounding falls, but what was really great was the multitude of butterflies that were swarming the area!

Great place for fall colors and to fly your drone. Just outside of Highlands NC.

On a rainy day, as the clouds hug the valley floor, the mist rolls over this picturesque waterfall creating a wonderful amalgamation of the clouds meeting the water. As you roll down your windows, the roar of the river rapid fills you with anticipation. The views are breathtaking... Hop down the rocks, feel the coolness of the water, but be careful not to bust your butt. It is one of the most serene scenes I have seen in a while. :)

What a find!! Took my grandkids (ages 14-20) here with my son and his wife and we had a blast! Hidden gem! For my Florida grandkids to swim in a waterfall, jump off a cliff into the waterfalls and slide down the rocks was fabulous!! Do not recommend for small children! Caution-You will need to be able to climb down the side of the hill and over rocks to get to it!

Just a short stop to view the falls. Very lovely with the fall foliage. It can be busy here with people playing in the falls, but it was quiet today.

Absolutely beautiful area. Most pull offs here have trails down to the river and there's a trail up and beyond the main falls
Rocks are slippery and unstable in places.
Parking is pull off only, no lot or spaces.

Beautiful.. absolutely stunning. This river made us stop and take pictures 📸. This is a perfect experience for the entire family. I recommend going during the winter, the cold air made the getaway soo much more enjoyable.

Great find while driving down a mountain road. Just seen it and pulled over to enjoy the view. I did not climb down to the rocks but there was several people down below the parking area on the big rocks. Beautiful sight, especially in the fall. 🍁

Our favorite little swimming hole! Definitely a challenge getting to the main falls but it's worth it. Loved seeing the crawdads and trout right where you swim. Be careful of the rocks while in the water and definitely wear some sort of shoe.

SO MUCH FUN!!!! i am 14 and i had so much fun. This place is very kid friendly and there is a rope for you to climb up to slide down the water fall and jump off the cliff. It gets deep in the big open area so you will need to be a good swimmer. The slide is so full of algae that it feels super soft to slide down. There is enough space to park on the side of the road and change without anyone seeing. There are many swimming holes that you can just sit in. The water is cold of course but you get used to it and when your swimming and doing all the activities you don’t even feel the cold. I highly recommend going to bust your butt falls.

This popular swimming hole and natural slide on the Cullasaja River along US Highway 64 near Highlands is also known as Quarry falls, I enjoy jumping in the cold waters of the cullajasa river and slide down the waterfall rock.
