A beautiful facility and welcoming staff surrounded by a variety of hiking trails perfect for any experience level. Our group aimed to attend a guided 1st Hike up the Hanging Rock Trail, but the times on the website were unclear on starting time resulting in our group taking an unguided hike instead. Other advertised events included a polar plunge, warming beverages and snacks with rangers and staff, and some kind of kids-focused activities and hikes making this a good even for people of all ages and outdoor experience levels. We had a great hike with excellent views and would absolutely recommend this state park, just be sure to call ahead to get correct event times.

Very nice trails. Good hikes during peak fall color. The hike up to the peak of hanging rock is challenging for leisurely hiking. Enjoyed the displays in the visitor's center.

Great location for a day trip with family. Trail was well laid with partially on cement pavement , stone gravel , wooden steps. Nearing to the top there was a unpaved, stone laid path, might be little difficult for older person or small kids, but we hiked with 4 year old boy and he did it without much pain. Once you go to the top spot, the view is breathtaking. Restrooms are closed (May be for this season or if you go after 4.45 pm) . There are temporary toilets available and water fountain is there in the parking. Ample car parking and 1.3 miles one way to the top from trail head. Worth the hike and there are some place the hike little steep. When you are planning take water bottles to refresh on the way. Benches for resting along the trails and some spots are slippery. Not always slippery though. Some area there are sharp stones or rocks , please wear shoes instead of just a flaps. It is family trail so time takes to one way is 40 min average. Great place to visit if you are near to this area. Total time minimum you need 3 hrs round trip from trail head to top and returns to parking. You will definitely enjoy the view and would recommend to anyone who likes to have little hiking.

Beautiful hiking. The Park Ranger was very friendly and helpful. He recommended an easier trail, since we had our 6yo with us. It was an easy hike to a small waterfall. We definitely look forward to trying some harder trails soon!

Nice visitor center and lots of parking space. I was here in late December and hiked a few trails - Hanging Rock, Hidden and Window Falls. Awesome views and would like to come back during fall season.

A well-known North Carolina tourist attraction! Dress casual and wear some good-fitting climbing shoes or boots. Take some water and snacks, it can make for a long day. Very beautiful place to visit with friends, family, and pets! Be prepared to climb steep areas with slippery rocks. The 1.3-mile climb is worth every bit of the tough hike up to the top! Enjoy! A definite stop while you're in the area! 👍

Great adventure for the whole family. We have a senior pit bull who loves hiking trails. This was his first time on a mountain type setting. He made it to the top and had a great time. There is a great little creamery to enjoy on the way out as well. We are already planning on going back for more fun hiking and swimming.

Awesome place to take the family for a day trip if you are in Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, Asheboro, Burlington, Mebane, Hillsborough, Chapel Hill, or Carrboro. The drive to Hanging Rock is beautiful so you will not mind it.

The lake is family friendly but can get crowded quickly on hot days, and a lot people do bring their dogs with them to hike so if you aren't a dog person be warned.

The trails aren't too hard but again can get crowded on the weekends. We find it more enjoyable on the weekdays and during the Fall and winter.

Nice place to hang out with your partner if you love hiking. It's about 1.3 mile to the top of the hanging rock. It will be better if you have hiking shoes and don't forget to have a small backpack with a water bottle.
