Moratock Park

We enjoyed a nice little pitstop at the park. There wasn't anyone there when we visited so it was a nice, quiet, relaxing spot. The current moves quickly on the river and provides a relaxing sound. There are picnic areas available and it was a clean space.

I have been coming to this park for about 25 years now and still enjoy visiting here. When I tube down the Dan River I usually stop at this park on the way out to swing on the rope swing unto the water and then have a picnic. Can be really crowded at times and at others you are all alone. Plenty of area to walk about and explore a little along the banks. Water is typically chilly if not cold throughout the year. I usually wait til about June through August to tube there. Has a shelter and some tables but needs an updated and larger playground for the kids. Maybe add some swings or something. 2 parkinglots available. A historic Iron furnace is also at the park in the lower parkinglot.

Picnic, play in the water, skip rocks,or just chill. One of my favorite places to go

Visited Moratock after a hard rain. Very high water levels. Always a great place to visit.

This is a great little park and nice swimming hole. It's gets pretty crowded so come early if you want a picnic table. Dog friendly

I've grown up on this river and at this park. At 43 years old, I still love it! There are a few built in grills, a small playground area for kids, plenty of space for volleyball or soccer, a covered picnic shelter with restrooms.... not including tubing down the river.... It's freaking awesome!!

Please do not think the river goes in a circle, but its just a big bend.

The iron furnace is really cool. This is also a nice place to park for tubing or just enjoying the river.

We love bringing the whole family, even the dog. The water gets deep enough for the adults to swim but has plenty of shallow play areas for the kids. We bring a picnic lunch and stay awhile. The only part is sometimes parking is across the street but we could all use a little walking now and then anyway.

I grew up going to the park. Whether is was playing on the playground or playing in the river I've always enjoyed it. The furnace itself is huge and amazing to look at and hear the stories. They have it gated off but you can still walk around the outside of it to get the full view of each angle. It's really pretty in spring and fall with all the trees, plants, and flowers that surround it in the right season. I love the steps that go down into the Dan river that allow for easy river access and no nice seating if you just wanna relax with a view.

This is an awesome place for a great fun and cheap day outing for anyone. Pack a picnic plenty of drinks and waters because you can easily make a whole day of it! We basically live here over the summer rather it's just going for the day or camping near by for the weekend.

We love taking our son to the river and sitting around playing and fishing. It's beautiful, peaceful, and quiet. No one bothers you and it's a nice and safe place for kids. We go there all the time and enjoy ourselves, cookout...etc

Great little park on the Dan River. It has picnic tables,charcoal grills and some playground equipment. But the best thing is sitting on a bench watching and listening to the Dan River. Great swimming in the summer

There's also local places to rent tubes or kayaks to go down the river and that provide
shuttle service. There's a few cafés close by and it's close to Hanging Rock State Park.
