Speedy's BBQ

First visit to Speedy's. I've tried a lot of BBQ in a lot of places and this ranks near the top. Portions of the Q and sides were enormous. You definitely get your money's worth. I had the course chopped BBQ, French fries and baked beans. All were delicious. Hush puppies were great also. Restaurant was clean and well maintained. Wait staff was awesome with frequent follow ups with sweet tea refills. I will be back when in the area.

The best around. You get your money's worth. We ordered 2 plates and it was so much food we had to ask for 3 to-go boxes. Everyone was so friendly! Extra napkins, sauce, drinks, and dip bowls were provided without having to ask.

We brought lunch to a friend who had surgery. Her favorite BBQ place is Speedy’s. As soon as we walked in, they took our order for takeout and before we knew it, the order was ready. Not even 10 minutes…boom out the door we went. The food was amazing and the hush puppies were delicious too. We will definitely be back again. Sooner than later for sure.

I have tried a lot of BBQ and this has always been my favorite. They are so generous with the portions, I can never eat it all. So delicious too. The restaurant is very clean, staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is exceptional. We drove from the mountains, to visit family and enjoy this wonderful BBQ with all the sides. We will definitely return. Best BBQ in NC!!!

It's like Mayberry and BBQ came together. The atmosphere was great, and there was a lot of decor to remind you that you are definitely in a BBQ restaurant. The service was exceptional and friendly. It was almost completely at capacity, but the service was super fast. They have that down to pat. We had the BBQ sandwich with slaw and fries. The sandwich had so much mest in it that half of it fell off, and we gad to scoop it up with our forks! It also comes with a side of NC BBQ sauce that I just ended up dipping my sandwich in. They are also smart and bring you a little pitcher of you tea so that the servers aren't tied up going back and forth refilling drinks! Smart, seeing how busy they were and how proficient the service was.
It was a delicious lunch to satisfy us while traveling through Lexington. The only thing that may be a little frustrating is that with it being so busy, finding a good parking spot might be a little tricky. But, it's not bad and well worth it. The amount of business we saw coming in reassured us that this little spot is hopping and had to have good BBQ! Recommended to stop in, and we will be back!

Oh My God!! I haven't even finished eating yet and I can't wait to write this review how good this place is!! I'm a trucker and I always try to stop at little hole in the wall places and I'm very fortunate and happy when I can find one as good as this with truck parking. Everything is SO delicious! I love pulled pork especially when it's done just right like it is here. The fries were seasoned perfectly and cooked just right. The beans super tasty. But what may have stole the show is the hush puppies! I've never had them as good as this. Everything is off the charts good! And you get like 2lbs of food for $12! It's ridiculous. I get to eat twice! Hopefully I'll come passing through these parts and get to come back again some day. I certainly marked it on my maps as a favorite and will make the effort to come back even if it's a little out of the way..

This is not a very heart healthy place. But the food is oh so good. You can't really go wrong with whatever you order. And the service is great.

One of my favorite Lexington Style BBQ places, the curb service is great and they always give large portions of meat and sides. bbq slaw is good and their dip is a little heavy on the tomato ketchup compared to your traditional lexington dip like stameys or lex bbq 1 makes. I personally like their take on dip and it is better for fries to dip in because it gives u some tomato to hold onto unlike traditional dip which is simply a watery consistency and meant for to season pork. I have also gotten the pork skins box and it was a huge box full of skins and a small cup of hot dip. This is one of the best ways to enjoy pork skins, the lexington dip way with a hot cup of dip and nice crispy real pork skins you cant find that in a bag at the convenience store. Their hushpuppies are not house made and seem to be frozen hushpuppies. It helps make it possible to serve plates with a huge amount of hushpuppies and fries. I normally recommend other lexington places like bbq center and the previous places but Speedys is definitely a local favorite and loved for their big portions and fast and friendly service. Love the new building! Same great food. Will return again.

I cannot believe the amount of food you get! Amazing food & service. Hush puppies are one of my favorites. My son said you didn’t even have to chop them in butter.

The new restaurant provides a more spacious, nicely decorated dining area. Friendly and casual Speedy's is a must visit in Lexington. The hushpuppies are always hot and the plates are filled to the brim. Service is speedy and accommodating. You will be surrounded by folks that have made it their go to place for eating out for decades. Friends and families fill the tables and children are welcome.

It was really busy at 6 the last time visited on a Thursday.

I haven’t had Speedy’s since they been I. This location. After being in Atlanta for over 10yrs I had to have some real bbq. A place where it actually smelled like bbq. The food was delicious. Brought back childhood memories of my dad bringing us the Chopped by the pound with slaw and hamburger buns. I had to grab a chopped pound of bbq for the road. Oh yeah, I had the burger with onion rings. I was stuffed. Nothings changed still the same great taste

There was way more food on the plate than I could eat. So, it was well worth the price. I had a chopped bbq plate with fries. We were seated immediately even though the restaurant was very busy, I would go here again.

First timer to Speedys. We got chopped plate, red slaw, potato salad (puddin'), fries, salad. Must be 2#'s of bbq on the plate. Double portions of sides. Certainly enough for 2 people. Bbq very flavorful but on the dry side. Dip was good but I like mine more thin rather than thick. Red slaw was 10 out of 10. Potato salad puddin was perfect consistency but was missing something. Crinkle fries were excellent especially after adding some seasoned salt that was on the table. Add one star to the review just for having Heinz ketchup. 10 times better than any food service supply brand. Salad was iceberg lettuce, fresh chopped tomatoes, cheddar cheese and pickle relish or chopped pickles with Ken's Golden Italian. Another good brand instead of food service dreck. Service was telepathic. The ladies knew what I wanted before I did. Fresh, hot, hush puppies too. I was starvin' and could not have had better or faster food. We will be back soon.

Today my friend and I decided to come to the new location at Speedy's. We had a really nice waitress❣ we can't remember her name but she had long hair that had blue in it. Food was excellent❣Love the new location too. Glad you guys stayed open and have a brand new place!

Great food, great service, great prices! Best BBQ in Lexington, great hush puppies, and exceptional banana pudding. We go every weeek!

I have been eating at Speedy's since the 1980s. Every time I am in or near Lexington I stop in and have the best BBQ in the Carolina's. I am glad they were able to stay open. I have never cleaned my plate here, I always bring enough home for another meal!

We always have a good experience at Speedy's the food is always good and you definitely get your money's worth 👍
This is hog heave 10 ⭐ this place is as good as it gets and they'll bring you a fork with your sandwich cuz you going to need it don't take my word for it look at my pictures. And on top of all that you always get excellent friendly service we love this place thank you everybody at Speedy's
7/6/21 back again today we got 1 large BBQ salad 1 large order of hush puppies for me and my wife to share and wow 😳 it was unbelievable and totally awesome excellent quality quantity and service me and my wife both had more than enough salad and hush puppies left after we finished eating we still have enough for lunch tomorrow you have to see the pics to believe me 👍 thanks Speedy's

The bbq was flavorful Vinegar based NC bbq. It was amazing. And my huspuppies were on point. The beans were perfectly seasoned and the slaw paired well w the bbq. The people were friendly and I was in and out the door in less than 10mins. I stopped in on my way to Gastonia. Ill probably stop again on my way back. I will 100% be back again. 5 stars for sure!

Speedy's has been my favorite restaurant in Lexington since I was a little girl. The portions have always been way more than enough, the waitstaff always polite, welcoming and QUICK! I also love that you don't even have to check your order before leaving with takeout bc honestly I don't ever remember a time when I got anything other than exactly what I ordered. My favorite thing to eat at Speedy's is the cheeseburger plate (lettuce and mayo). I also love the bbq salads, chopped bbq plate, banana pudding, hot dog (all the way) and the FRIES!! you won't find better fries anywhere!! The regular seasoned fries go perfectly with everything on the menu and the chili cheese fries are a really good appetizer!! Make sure you don't forget to order a big ol' sweet tea with whatever you choose to eat. Their tea is definitely the best in town!! If you've never been there you are missing out!!
