College Barbecue

A true North Carolina pork BBQ restaurant. Western North Carolina. Friendly people. They are still smoking in the original pit from the 1960s. This place brought back some childhood memories. From the food to the building itself. It's a timeless place. And delicious.

This BBQ restaurant is located on the north side of Salisbury in close proximity to both the Catawba and Livingstone College campuses and the Bob Heffner Veterans Medical Center. Walking into this barbeque restaurant was like a trip back in time to my younger years when there was a barbeque joint in every small community serving great chopped and sliced barbeque sandwiches and trays. Also reminded me of the freshly grilled hotdogs and hamburgers served all the way with chilli,slaw and onion and don't forget the pimento cheese burgers. College Barbeque has all these memories served fresh daily. They deserve more than a 5 Star rating !

Stopped here while visiting family in Salisbury from Colorado. Great place—highly recommend! It was super busy at 1:30PM on a Sunday, but the service was excellent. Three different servers checked on me throughout my meal, which was just right level of contact for the amount of time I spent here. I felt taken care of and never felt bothered in any way.

They refilled my Diet Coke before it was empty and did so by bringing a pitcher of soda to pour into my cup instead of taking my cup to the fountain—nice touch.

When I asked about desserts, I found out that banana pudding is only available on Mondays. This would have to be my only disappointment—but not at all because I was otherwise led to believe that banana pudding would surely be available. I asked about desserts, and the server kindly informed me of what’s available on certain days of the week. No foul there.

I’ll be back for sure on my next trip to Salisbury. Thanks!

My son and I each got sweet teas with small chopped bbq trays. The tea is very sweet, so brace yourself. Our 2 hush puppies (each) were piping hot and delicious. The slaw is a classic NC vinegar salad with great flavor. The barbecue stole the show for me, though. So many places give dry overcooked meat, but this was tender and perfect. Combined with their homemade sauce, it was the best lunch I've had in a long time. Portions were just right, and it was $16 for the two of us!

We're from California and took a trip to NC and stopped to have dinner at this little restaurant. The food was the best food I'd ever tasted! The service was wonderful as well. All the ladies there were very sweet and helpful with what to order!

Loved it! A simple old school bbq place. Hush puppies are the size of golf balls, some of the best onion rings ever and chopped bbq sandwich that simply makes me happy!

Bacon Cheeseburger is WOW! Great fountain Cheerwine. Even better fries.
If they begged me how to improve I would recommend some white cole slaw.
Hint to customers: when you come in wait to see what section the cute short browned hair waitress is working. Get in her section for FAST, great service.

Enjoyed my dinner. Still getting adjusted to NC style BBQ and the lack of St Louis style ribs but the pulled pork (chopped) I had here was pretty darn good. The slaw was fresh. Hushpuppies delicious. They serve a lot of diner type food too. Waitress was the best. Nice clean restaurant with adequate tables.

I love this place!!! I eat here 4 times a week. Best place in Salisbury period!! Chrissy to all the wait staff is absolutely AMAZING!! It’s a family owned business and the whole family is so nice, so awesome phenomenal!!! It’s like being home. So cozy. Love it 😊

Been going to breakfast every Saturday and the food is great. The preparers will cook your food just they way you ask. Nice folks working there

We have been going to College for over 30 and the food has never changed. The BBQ is the best in the state, and the pimento burger is wonderful, add fries or onion rings and a cheerwine and you will leave full and very happy

Best place in town!!! Have been here twice as a visitor, with my dad, who's native, my sister, and brother in law!!! Best BBQ ever!!! Love this place!!!

Great food, first time eating here but will return

First time at College BBQ, and have to tell you the Q was excellent! The onion rings were some of the best I have had in a long time, even the FF were perfectly done! Service was VERY professional, courteous and friendly! Our server, Chrystal was the best!!

A must stop for all BBQ lovers.! This place is frequented by all locals and is the go to place on the West side of Salisbury. It has a small diner feel and the staff are always very friendly. My favorite is the Pimento Cheeseburger!

The food here is great. Haven't gotten anything I didn't like. My 3 fav's cheeseburger deluxe, Philly, & BBQ. Breakfast special has generous portions! Drive thru staff go way above and beyond and are friendly and thoughtful of their regulars. They make it a point to get to know you.

Delicious breakfast, generous portions and well packaged for take out. Reasonably priced.
