Evangeline's

Simply the best in Tuscaloosa, and amongst the best I’ve ever had.
To begin, my boyfriend had a cocktail, the winter mule. The alcohol was generous and all ingredients even in the drink were noticeably high quality. The ginger beer tasted amazing. I had an Argentinian Malbec that blew my mind.
Appetizer: soup du jour - cup of zucchini and orzo. DI-VINE.
Pork and greens, perfection. So crisp, flavorful, and an amazing portion.
Main course: I got the shrimp and grits, and I actually had to take the bulk of it home because the app portions were so impressive. The sauce was drinkable it was so delicious, I get nervous ordering shrimp while out to eat because many places overcook it way too harshly. NOT Evangeline’s. It was tasty and fresh. My boyfriend got the catfish and loved it, too!!!! We saved room for dessert which we didn’t regret - the key lime pie was great (although he said it was more of a sweet treat, not tart, if that’s what you’re into). I had the chocolate peanut butter cake and took the rest of it home to finish with another glass of red.
A very rare and special indulgence this evening was. I knew I had to visit Evangeline’s. David’s attention to detail is unrivaled. 10/10.

I met a couple of friends there for a birthday celebration. The menu offered a diverse selection of almost gourmet goodies. The cocktail 🍸 choices were endless.
The service was excellent 👌. My water glass was never allowed to reach empty.
The atmosphere was charming. Dim lighting and excellent placement of the dining tables in relationship to the bar provided a sense of community with privacy. The dress ranged from jeans to suit jackets. One intriguing thing was the chain mail curtains hanging between the dining area and the bar. As explained to me, they baffled the sound between the two areas, yet still allowed you to see the entire area. I felt comfortable speaking at my normal volume. The overall feel was somehow peaceful and exciting at the same time. I must make a special note of a young lady named Destiny. I'm not sure of her role there, manager; hostess; happiness of the customer specialist would all apply. I must look into her other talent as an artist.
As indicated by the extreme length of this post, I was impressed and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I will return and try a different cocktail and meal each time.

We aren’t from around here and was in Tuscaloosa for our granddaughter’s prom. We showed up with no reservations and a tad bit underdressed and they found us a table, all the waitresses was very pleasant and didn’t make us feel out of place . Food was divine !! Will be coming back .

A tad noisy for me. I find i have a hard time understanding people in such environments. The only reason I knocked a star. Wish there was more sound dampening. The food though, quite good. I had the shrimp and grits. Loved it. Denise had the scallops which I had some of. It was good but I found there was some spice in the vegetables that I didn't like so much. Scallops were done perfectly.

Service was excellent but in other upscale places, usually plates are cleared once everyone is done. The staff were never disrespectful, I'm just used to that in other places.

I definitely want to come back to try some of the other dishes though. Reservations seem to be a good idea.

Had my first experience tonight and it was amazing. Crab cakes were great, steak was fantastic and the blackened swordfish was lovely. Our server, I believe her name was Maddie, was absolutely fabulous. She was attentive and so kind, I could also tell that the entire staff was working as a team and that’s always great to see. Crème brûlée was a good way to end the night. Can’t wait to be back!

Everything about this place is PERFECT!!!! Ella was our server. She provides the BEST service! I’d recommend this place OVER AND OVER!

Good atmosphere, and healthy feeling food. Worth it to go if you want quality food.

Looking for an amazing restaurant that just feels warm and intimate when you walk in the door? Check out Evangeline's in Tuscaloosa. Reservations are HIGHLY Recommended. This is one of my family's favorite celebration restaurants whether it's for a birthday, anniversary or for just the fact that we made it through a very busy week! Sometimes, this busy mama just realizes that Evangeline's can cook waaaay better than me. First, several of my family members love their steaks - oh, wow! They are grilled to perfection and so flavorful. The crab cakes are my personal favorite. We're talking real crab and a LOT of it. You don't find all that breadcrumb filler in these and they are yummy. The salads and desserts are also a huge hit with my family. Be sure to check out Evangeline's but again...MAKE A RESERVATION. You can thank me later. Enjoy!

We ate at Evangeline's to celebrate my daughter's graduation from UA. The ambience is relaxing with candles and beautiful place settings. The food was amazing. Several in our party had Shrimp & Grits which was in a tomato based sauce. It was delicious! Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess asked if we were celebrating anything and I told her my daughter's graduation. To our surprise, at the end of the meal, they brought out a celebratory glass of champagne for our entire table. It was an amazing ending to an amazing meal.

Really good quality food. Crab cakes were great, very little filler in them and the sauce was delicious. Would highly recommend requesting the basket of bread. Bread was freshly baked and came with honey butter, which was a unique twist but worked really well. For entrees, the shrimp and grits was really well seasoned and tasted great. Only minor complaint was I ordered the burger which was cooked well when I asked for medium, but it really didn't matter since the sauce was so delicious that the burger never tasted dry. The Bleu cheese also really complimented the burger nicely and gave it a very unique flavor. Red velvet cheesecake for dessert was also very rich and tasty. One of the nicer, more upscale restaurants in town.

The Food and Wine is phenomenal, Best date place and best little jewel in Tuscaloosa.

Awesome dining experience each time. Good and atmosphere are always top notch! Great for date night or a special celebration! And no need to fight downtown crowds!

Evangaline’s is my favorite for many reasons. The staff and food are amazing. The location, parking and ambience can’t be beat. We dined at the bar last night and had a fabulous meal and great drinks. My friend had the soup of the day and the 12 oz bone in Rib Eye. Both were perfectly prepared and delicious. Can’t wait to come back!

I absolutely cannot eat shrimp and grits... But the way they make them here, I actually crave them. I have yet to find a dish that isn't delicious and freshly made. The toast (perseco) is delicious, but what makes it worthwhile is that we're always treated so well here. Amazing staff, delicious food, and a great atmosphere.

Hands down my favorite place to eat in Tuscaloosa. When we lived in Florida we belonged to a dinning club and this place reminds me of the food I am use to when I go out to eat. I would love to see a French lavender crème brûlée on the menu. :)

Wonderful food, excellent staff, and beautiful atmosphere! My husband & I went for our anniversary and they gave us glasses of champagne with strawberries in them. We also requested a more private table at the last minute and they seated us in a lovely corner away from everyone else. It was very romantic! We both loved our meals & we've literally spent more at Outback (for a comparable amount of food). Our new favorite date spot!

It was a long wait for the food, but it was a Friday night, so very understandable. The food was well worth the wait. I got the cob salad and fillet mignon.. both water fantastic. The waiter was very attentive despite the restaurant being quite busy. I have no complaints.
