The staff are truly AMAZING, they actually spent quality time getting to know each of us, and have more patience than they get paid for, I'm sure lol. No matter what, they were ready and willing to help; even when they are being cussed at and screamed at by patients. I was taken care of medicinally, mentally, and emotionally. The only issue I had was my discharge medication wasn't right; but was quickly taken care of thanks to the director of the unit, Valerie.Im thankful and very greatful for what they do and they should be paid waaaaay more than I'm sure they get paid 😘

Great staff in the ER. These 2 counselors that were there at 11am were so nice and kind to me during a very difficult time. I would highly recommend going there.

Do not recommend this place at all. When someone clearly needs help but they don't get admitted to get said help then something is wrong with that place.

released a dangerous and delusional individual after 72 hours back to terrify and harass myself and family as we care for his 80 year old mother recovering from a colostomy. their so called psychiatrist had access to very graphic and disturbing voicemails and delusions. This incompetent doctor released him saying the theeats were from drugs and alcohol caused the delusions and violence when in fact the individual was still making threats and spouting delusions that very day by phone from their facility. he had no drugs or alcohol for 3.days and was (and in fact 2 days later still is) threatening.himself and others death.
the doctoe refused to speak to me whrn i called to tell.them he was threatening us from thw facility.

This is absolutely unacceptable, sickening incompetence and total negligence.

I have been there, maybe not a plethora of times, but enough to know the doctors there are, at the least, unprofessional, in some way. Dr. Atkins is emotionally immature and obnoxious, while claiming to be a Christian; Dr. Raisani is just plain rude and I never got to see Dr. Newsom because he did not even make rounds, until after he knew everyone was asleep. Maybe he was afraid of being evaluated like these two have been. And I never saw a bill from him, but he claimed I owed him thousands of dollars, which was never paid. It was never paid because I never got a bill, and I did not find out about it, until years later, when I wanted to see him, outside the hospital. His billing, is obviously, too similar to his method of making rounds -- too secretive.

Aside from the doctors, the other staff is fine. However, you don't get admitted to a psychiatric unit for the other staff. You go because you need a doctor. Doctors should at least be seen by their patients, not just heard about, or whispered about, rumor style, when the patient wants to know something. The doctor should at least have the courtesy to show up and show his face to his patients. And if they do show up, personal feelings should be left out of it. A patient does not go a hospital to get worse or be insulted and put down. They go to a hospital to get better.

Literally worst place to go for your mental health. Horrible staff & even worse doctors. You will be overly medicated and leave looking like you just left a war zone which while you're in there you will feel like you're in a battle field. It's a horrible facility all together. If you really need help I highly recommend St. Vincent's East. Better, caring staff & doctors.

Only a few Nurses and staff care, the rest are overly empowered.. so DONT go to DCH anything, Go to UAB!! PCAs are rude. Their Top Flight Security guards are bottom notch with big egos

Horrible facility. Family and the patient were poorly treated. If you want your family member to come out looking like they have been in a war zone this is a good place to send them.
