The food and service at Abel’s is all exceptional! Our group ordered lobster rolls and lobster bisque for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed both. We tried lobster rolls at a few different spots on the island and this was by far the best! We also really enjoyed dessert. The peach cobbler is more like a peach cake. The apple cinnamon cake was our favorite! We waited about 45 minutes on a rainy Saturday night to get seated as a party of 6.

Great location and very cool vibe inside. It felt like a family cabin inside with all the wood paneling.

We had the Old Fashioned, Nee England IPA, oysters, whole lobster, and blueberry pie. All were fantastic and the service was very friendly and attentive. Abel’s was probably the best dining experience we had while we were in Maine. Can’t recommend it enough!

After driving 3 hours, we were starving! There was a line but we didn't have to wait very long at all, thankfully. The service was great and the hake was amazing. I'm not a fish person and I've never heard of it but I thought I'd give it a try! Delicious! The portion was huge as well! Don't forget dessert, blueberry pie! YUMMY!

Incredible experience as a whole. The food speaks for itself but, on top of that, the setting was the icing on the cake and the service was the cherry on top for our experience at Abel’s. The service was fantastic from the moment the hostess first greeted us. She was a sweetheart. Our server Jane was very helpful and friendly as well. Would recommend this spot for anyone who wants immaculate eats, and then some!

Now THAT is a lobster roll! Full of flavor and attention to details but no fuss, even the bun is on another level. Best in Maine so far. Seating outside with views of the little harbor and the wood fire smell doesn’t hurt either. Same goes for the blueberry pie, the maple whipped cream could be plated alone, the flaky butter crust… everything just right! They even have wifi which comes in handy with the bad reception around there. Joyous find!!!

We went there twice during our short trip at Bar Harbor. Great food, view and service! The blueberry pie was delicious and not too sweet. Lobster chowder was also good. Love the crispy fries in fish and chips.

I read about this place being very good but off the beaten path a little.
The lazy man's lobster was delicious as were the grits and snap peas. Great outdoor dining at picnic tables by the water with excellent sunset views. Nice change from Bar Harbor. Only about 15 min from Bar Harbor and about 5 min North of Northeast Harbor.

We loved our dinner here and it will be a highlight of our trip. Beautiful setting and yummy food that was up a notch from the classic Maine fare. Many of the restaurants we came across just seemed like duplicates of the other restaurants. We were thankful for a change. The chowder, carbonara and ice cream Sammies were delicious. Restaurant was clean. Servers were super nice. Would be a place I'd definitely come back to if we came to the area again.

This place was the most perfect secret find! Based off the number of locals present in the restaurant, Abel's is a quality, non-touristy spot. It serves the most delicious lobster rolls I've ever had with huge chunks of lobster. The staff was very friendly (our party included a toddler and two babies) and prompt. The cocktails were delicious (and beautiful), and they had a decent beer menu. The blueberry pie is good, but the house made maple whipped cream it comes with is better. And then on top of all of that, every table in the restaurant boasts a beautiful view of the water. Prices are decent as Bar Harbor goes. We went early towards opening and were seated right away, but the wait list built up quickly, as it was raining and people weren't sitting outdoors. There's a little hut next to the restaurant and outdoor seating where they keep the live lobsters and prepare them, which is a fun way to entertain kids while waiting for food to come. We would definitely dine here again.

Decided to get my Maine lobster roll here at Abel’s and it didn’t disappoint. The portion size was really large and there was plenty of lobster on the roll. The atmosphere was perfect and right on the water. We enjoyed eating outside with the delicious food.

Abel’s was beautiful from the food, to the service, to the location. Sandra served us and was so helpful and accommodating. The GM even showed a member of our party the lobster cooking and plating process. Personal favorites from the menu were lobster of course, lobster stew, the grand plateau for appetizer, and the strawberry shortcake ice cream bars. Well worth a visit!

Great all around Mainey experience. Lovely chill setting, very friendly and accommodating staff. The lobster chowder way exceeded my expectations in unique taste profile. Everyone was happy with lobster roll and fish and chips. Will definitely come back when it’s warmer to eat outside! Does get super packed!

Where do I even begin. This experience was flawless. Right when we sat down, I knew I was in for a treat. The views are amazing! I’ve included a few pictures in my review to showcase what I mean! Wow!

Our waiter was awesome. He mentioned he lived in Portland for some time last year. He was extremely personable and very knowledgeable around each dish. Perfect service.

The food was awesome. A few of us got lobster and it was incredibly fresh and everything you’d want from a Maine lobster. 🦞 The steamers were the best I have had. Steak was cooked how we wanted it. The home made lemon ice cream sandwiches stole the show for dessert.

Drinks were great. I got the smoked old fashioned and it was done right. Correct cherry, orange peel, didn’t overdue the bitters and the Smokey flavor was present. Others at the table got the Blueberry Margarita and that was done right as well.

After dinner we walked down to the dock and watched the sun set. It was a perfect night with family, one that will live on in our memories.

Thank you Abel’s for making it happen!

Wow! This was one of the best restaurant experiences. We arrived early to ensure outdoor seating and were seated right away. By the time we left a couple hours later there was over an hour wait.

Cocktails amazing. Food amazing. Views amazing. Service amazing. Need I say more? This place is off the beaten path, but well worth the drive and time! I hope to return on our next visit.

Cannot say enough good things about this place - from the food, to the awesome atmosphere, to the great people behind it. Everyone from the hostess, to our server, Jane, and to the general manager was super thoughtful and contributed to a great experience - would absolutely recommend going to Abel’s if you’re in the area.

I ordered takeout for lunch for a lobster roll, and was pleasantly surprised it came with fries and not a bag of chips like most other places. This roll was the most upscale of all of the ones I tried on the island, and had microgreens on top of the roll. The fries were hand cut - and even came with the perfect size dipping container of ketchup. The location is so nice outside with all the picnic tables overlooking the water, and they had chairs outside which was a nice place to wait for my roll. Overall really great roll and meal!

Stellar. Abel's was highly recommended by a local as "the best lobster pound on Mount Desert Isle" and it exceeded expectations. Everything we had was exceptional, delicious, and reasonable.

The location is gorgeous, the service was good, the menu itself was great.
The charcuterie board was fantastic. Oftentimes when ordering charcuterie and cheese you'll find one or two items which are lackluster, but every single piece including the veggies was served to perfection. The lobster dinners were perfect, the pimento cheese crab melt was tasty, and the fish sandwich was fantastic. The perfect lunch.

Great lobsters, as fresh as they get. Loved the local beers on tap and the sesting outside, right in front of the waterfront made it all perfect.
Wish we could come again!!
