My first trip to this state and I'm so glad I found this place! My camp site was amazing, next to the water with gorgeous views! I rented a kayak & paddled around in the sound, absolutely beautiful. The gentleman in the office was friendly, helpful & efficient- the lady could've been a little kinder. They have a tab for your expenses, like a hotel which was convenient. The restrooms & showers are clean & nice. The Gathering Place is a sweet place to go in the morning for coffee & fresh baked goods, also to meet other campers. I loved my stay here & will be back!

Well it’s a campground so there’s no “rooms” to rate but the campsites are nice and big and well maintained. We absolutely love this place and have been coming here for several years now. The staff is great, super friendly and helpful. They really make you feel like you and your time there is important to them. They have very nice paddle boards and kayaks to rent along with a nice long dock for you to dock 1 vessel. There is a nice big open boat launch area that’s great during high tide but quite mucky at low tide. This is also where you can store your extra vessels during your stay. That bath houses are always clean and conveniently located throughout the grounds. The only complaint I could possibly have is the lack of washer and dryer facilities. If they put one or two at each bath house or even just a few up at the office area that would be great. Many of us have kids and we all know kids tend to get messy so it would be nice to be able to do laundry on site rather than having to go into bar harbor, southwest or northeast harbor to do laundry. Overall a fantastic campground and we will definitely be back for years to come.

This is the perfect location!!! It's minutes from the park, right on the water, secluded sites, and lots of options for bathrooms/showers!!! Well kept and the perfect set up for your trip!!! We will be sending anyone we know who wants to go to Acadia!!

Magical. Homelands of the Wabanaki Nation. Sites range from marshy mosquito habitats to majestic ocean shores. Luxurious for camping with showers, maintained and clean bathrooms, ice cream shop, wood for purchase, and potable water throughout the camp. The memorial walking trail is a beautiful walk lined with mushrooms and blueberries. Crabbing at the docs with kiddos was a highlight. Bring a screen house kitchen, if you're able. No laundry on site. Some food for purchase, but not much. 5 stars. Excellent hosts.

Second time here...just a lovely campground. They are a well-oiled machine, and they keep things simple. Only things they are selling is ice and firewood. Additionally, they have a small Gathering Place building that is accessible all day, for wifi. For a few morning hours, staff sells coffee and pastries from that building, and for a few evening hours they sell ice cream. Other than crab-nets(kids seemed to enjoy this) this is all you'll find for "extras"...Which is lovely.

The water-front sites are special. You can watch the tides go in and out and enjoy the seagulls crab-hunting. They are also very hard to get. I think the regulars re-book from year to year. The other sites are nothing fancy, other than the platform sites are helpful with tenting. They are all super clean.

This is not the type of campground with candy bingo, or a DJ, or a pool, or loud music blasting from campsites. This is the kind of campground where you'll experience peace and quiet. Activities include kayaking and biking around the campground (and crab-catching).

They do a great job keeping the sites and bathrooms clean. No litter, anywhere. Something I also love is how there is a dumpster at each restroom. (Some places have one large, communal dumpster area that is far away.) Made it easy to keep trash cleaned up.

Con: the ocean bay is not great for swimming. A bit mucky and shallow.
Pro: it's a lovely spot to kayak.
Bonus: free Island Shuttle bus runs from the campground into town.
Best part: the location of this campground is stellar. 5 minutes to the Eagle Lake Carriage Road and 10 to Acadia National Park (and about 10 to Bar Harbor).

We've been coming every summer for years and before that we came for a weekend each October. The campground is well-maintained with clean bathrooms and showers. Rental kayaks are great and the location is perfect for exploring Acadia though the view is so perfect I always spend a day lounging in my hammock.

Probably the most beautiful campground we've ever stayed at. The tent sites have wooden decks to set up on, which keeps things dry. That was great since it rained during our entire stay. There are some beautiful shoreline sites. The sweet rolls for sale in the morning are worth stopping in for. Clean bathrooms with 5-min showers for $1.

Highly recommend staying at this campground if you are into outdoor activities. Plenty of mountains and trails nearby to hike (See below for view from Dorr mountains peak). If you are not into hiking do not worry there are plenty of lakes, and ocean, nearby for you to canoe or kayak (Pictured below is kayaking adventure of Long Lake). Not into either? Bar Harbor center is only 10 minutes away from this campsite. Perfect location for anyone who loves camping and outdoor activities!

This campground is minutes from Acadia Nat Park. Well maintained, clean bathrooms and a decent amount of tent sites have power and water.

Great campsite with lovely staff at the main office, so handy to be able to pick up wood & ice from the desk and pay for it all at the end of the stay.
Our site (E2) was in great shape when we arrived and I would even say turned out better than the photo on the website
Everything from booking, to arrival, stay & departure was super easy. Can’t wait to come back.

Lovely campground. Good mix of nature and amenities. Great location- 10 minute drive to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor. Great customer service- everyone was very helpful. We liked the convenience of adding firewood, ice, coffee, or whatever else we needed to our online account and paying everything at once when we checked out. Definitely planning to return next season!

We had a great time here! The campground is beautiful. The staff was very friendly. The campground and bathrooms were very clean. It was quiet and everyone while we were there respected the quiet hours. Next year we would love to book a site on the water. It is very close to Acadia National park and downtown Bar Harbor so it is very convenient to visit those places. Will definitely return for another vacation!

Great location, close to carriage trails and short drive to Acadia national park visitors center. Like the elevated tent platforms. Staff are very helpful and made great recommendations for trails and hikes close by.

We've camped a lot and this has been our favorite place! The location is very central on the island, it feels so quiet and private with the sites spread out among the forest, the roads are good, the bathhouses are plentiful and clean. It's a $1 for a shower (quarters) but it's good and hot. Very professional place. We'll return to this campground!

Great campground with lots of extra amenities. They had running water with hot showers and maintained restrooms.

They have a little hangout area with coffee, water, pastries and meeting other people! The camp ground had really good cell service all around. The place was really well maintained.

Will book again!

This campground has a really unique plan for tent sites. The very best ones are facing the water but they're also the most popular. We used the boat dock to put our kayaks in the sound at high tide but paddled a little too long and couldn't access the boat ramp as the water receded. Instead we paddled to the campground's dock and locked them up until the water levels rose again, as there was no safe way to carry the boats from the dock. It was definitely an adventure we'd repeat - while in the water, we saw bald eagles flying overhead and even paddled with a harbor seal.

Beautiful well kept small camp ground we tent camped at site A1+ it's a nice semi private site with a large wooden tent pad. We enjoyed some kayaking in the bay. Easy to use put in at the camp ground. Bathrooms were one of the cleanest best smelling facilities I had ever used. The showers are a $1 for 5 mins and are well worth it!

Stayed one night in late September. Great place. Easy to navigate with the nice map. Plenty of bathrooms that were very clean. Remember quarters for the hot showers. Friendly office workers, and the office smells wonderfully like cedar! Whole place was well taken care of.

Awesome campsite! Beautiful area, well maintained, clean bathrooms, centrally located on island. Hot showers available - 5min for $1. (Other campsites on island do not have showers and must pay at higher rate outside of campground). Wifi available at the gathering place, but was available at our nearby campsite as well. Loved my stay here and wish we had stayed at this camp ground longer!
