I have Been a customer for several years and they don’t disappoint! I have had several large dogs live past 13 and I owe it to their knowledge and expertise. They care about all pets and owners and are very compassionate and friendly. Their full schedule goes to show they have many returning customers that feel the same way I do. Thanks for all you do to help keep my pets healthy with long lives!

My family and I have been relying on BLAV for over 27 years now, and we cannot speak highly enough of their outstanding services and most importantly, their hearts.
From the moment we stepped through their doors, it was evident that they genuinely care for all animals. Our COVID dog was terrified and tended to get anxious during vet visits, she was treated with unparalleled patience and understanding. The staff took the time to create a calm and reassuring environment for our pet and now they are among her favorite humans. We are currently working on re-socializing her, so we have her out and about with us from time to time, and she still gets nervous- but she saw her doctor on one outing and went to her for reassurance and comfort.
On top of routine care they have come through during emergencies with our pets. They showed exceptional expertise in handling critical situations and promptly referred us to the ER Vet when necessary, but not before taking the time to stabilize our pets before getting us on the road.
Beyond their evident love for animals, the staff are a wealth of knowledge and is incredibly informative. They take the time to thoroughly explain the pros and cons of different treatment options, ensuring we, as pet owners, are well-informed and actively involved in our pets' care. This level of transparency is a true testament to their commitment to the well-being of our furry family members.
The entire team has gone above and beyond to understand our pets on a personal level. They know our pets well and have developed strong bonds with them. This personal touch sets them apart from other clinics, making us feel like our pets are in the best possible hands. LOVE THEM! YOU WILL TOO!

I cannot thank Dr McAlpin and the wonderful staff at Big Lake Hospital for the care they have given my pups when they needed urgent care. The entire staff was so kind and helpful and fit my pups in when I knew they were short staffed. I am forever grateful for all they have done with keeping my pups healthy.

I make the drive to this location just because of how much the staff cares for my fur-children! I have been with Dr McAlpin at the St Michael location for decades, and now I see her at the Big Lake location also. The staff is kind and accommodating to both of my older cats - but especially to one that always has a bad attitude when she's at the clinic! The techs are patient and gentle with her. I appreciate their welcoming attitude when we arrive, now bimonthly because of the needs my "grumpy" one has. What could be a dreaded trip for me, and traumatic for Callie, is something we accept because I'm always greeted so warmly. Thank you to everyone--especially Dr McAlpin--for knowing what's best for the little lives that mean so much to me!

We have been taking our dogs here since we moved to town over 9yrs ago. They have been very accommodating and always show a lot of compassion for dogs. We love Big Lake Vet Hospital and would recommend them to anyone!

They always take care of my pets with such general concern. I love all of their vet clinics.

I had reservations taking our puppy to a vet for curbside service because of COVID19. The staff here were wonderful! They were very understanding, patient and kind. A staff member came to get our puppy and was genuinely happy. Communication from the staff was great and their timelines given at each call were spot on. I didn't feel rushed when talking to the veterinarian. She gave a thorough report, asked questions, gave recommendations and answered all of our questions. Very happy and glad we chose this vet clinic!

They are always calling and helping anyway they can.Caring,helpful and compassionate workers. Always been willing to show me how to do things like trim nails myself, co vid has made it hard to contuine this service but they do their best to help anyway possible. We have been going to the st michael one for years probably 15 plus. Years, so we switched to this location being they are the same vets. We are super happy and they always love my babies like I do. Would always recommend. Yes prices are expensive like any vet. But the care is always good.

Kristi was the best with my rabbit, Betty. This vet went above and beyond taking me in as a new customer, especially with a rabbit. Will always continue to come here for my rabbit needs. Nothing but pleased! And thankful!

The staff are extremely sweet and kind. We unfortunately had to put our family dog down. They made us feel so comfortable and didn't just treat us like another dollar coming in. We were able to stay with our dog Bubba until the very end, then they also let us take as long as we needed. Along with making us a copy of his pawprint.

Great veterinary practice. The doctors are great and really care about your pets. I've brought in puppies (was small breeder), seriously injured dog, failing health dog, and aged dogs. The caring and compassion is second to none. I am 100% confident in the quality of care my pets receive and recommend them to anyone looking for an awesome vet.

They were most helpful when our cat was in his final moments. Even though he didn't make it there, when I called, they told us to bring him in to help him pass. After talking to them I was somewhat relieved, I mean, my baby was dying how relieved could I be?

I have been bringing my dachshund to the Big Lake, then later the St. Michael clinic since he was a puppy. He is now 15 years old. He sees Dr. McAlpin who knows him well. Always attentive and quick to return calls of concern. My dachshund has been through so much, and I partially credit the excellent care he has received at these clinics.

The receptionists at the St. Michael clinic are friendly and professional.

Best vet I have ever been to! They are prompt and very caring. They dont charge an arm and a leg either. I feel confident when I bring my animals there that they get to the point and dont try to charge for unnecessary things.

Dr. Ashtin is great. Super friendly and great with both our large dogs, even the one with anxiety issues. Good prices and they accept Carecredit

This was the only place we could take our previous dog to get his nails trimmed without sedating him. Now they handle our large German Shepard ( who is a big baby) nicely.

Love taking my puppies here. They actually get excited when we pull up for an appointment. Awesome caring staff, great veterinary hospital
