Old Peking

Over 20 years ago I got almost every meal, every day from Old Peking. I was a super broke artist and the sweet couple who owns the place always treated us like family and fed us delicious food that literally saved us. It’s so awesome to see they are still open so many years later. I hope to go back one day and leave them a nice tip because I never could afford to leave a tip back in those days. Thank you for the delicious food, you make a bigger impact in the community than you will ever know. Forever grateful :) ps. Beet broccoli in brown sauce I’ve ever had in my life!

The service is great...the food is great. Only problem is the delivery service is non existent. P.S I was a regular customer with the "great wall " for many years then they closed. Since I've been a customer of old Peking I found they're just as good, and I'll be a customer, hopefully, for a long time !!!! P.S. today 3/4/24 for some time now they do have delivery and they are very dependable and fast!!!!...try it you'll like it.😗😄😊🥰

Food is soo fresh and clean, haven’t had Chinese this clean before in yearsss ! First fried scallops I’ve had that don’t drip with oil or taste weird, crispy crunchy and hot !

Good and consistent. They don't always have delivery, but when they do it's super fast. Friendly staff, both in person and for delivery.

Pleasant couple who has been serving my 2 kids and I their amazing menus with reasonable prices for almost 2 decades. It’s a treasure to find a Chinese food eat in and take out including delivery like them.

Update: they are back and better than before with new window at counter! Was walking to Our Hero’s and had to call an audible to celebrate!

I hope they open back up soon. They have been my go to spot for the last few years. I would go at least once a week, and would continue even during these tough times if I could.

I absolutely love this place. This is one of the best Chinese places in Jersey City. Not only are their prices fair but they also take credit card. The staff is friendly and they have a large selection of food to choose from. For example, they offer chicken dumplings. Not many other Chinese places offer that but they have it, and it tastes great! The food is full of flavor and they don't skimp out on the portion sizes. I have been a loyal customer to them for years and I will continue to be as long as they keep up to great job.

Best Chinese restaurant I've ever been to; Old Peking was a favorite mainstay of my years at Saint Peter's! The serving sizes are huge and affordably priced, and the menu offers countless options to try (including my favorites, the General Tso's Chicken and Hunan beef); stopping by Old Peking on random college nights is one of my favorite memories of Jersey City.

Always friendly. Always good. And the chicken actually looks like chicken unlike the other nearby place that their chicken looks like a white and grey sponge.

They are open again!!!! So happy I had a chance to enjoy my lunch special. Their food is honestly really good for the price. Have a semi sealed window to keep everyone distant and everyone is wearing a mask. Loved it!

I tried it years ago and they had good but average food. I tried again last week and found the best food in the area and my area is full of Chinese restaurants. The egg drop soup alone was enough to keep me coming back but the beef with string beans was amazing. I find myself reading over the menu and fantasizing about what I'll try next. I have never been so happily surprised by take out.

The BEST Chinese food in Jersey City! Hard working folks, delicious food at excellent prices, and open fairly late. Just the BEST!

Kiawe island bistro has some good eats and lots of options. The service was nice & friendly, the time to get your food did take a lil while. I ordered the Kalua pig with cabbage and it tasted great and was pretty good potion but was priced 12-13$ so I would expect good portions, the Mac salad was not very good as I thought too much mayonnaise.

After 3 years of saying we'd go to Old Peking. Threatening it as if it's a food poisoning case waiting to happen, we finally went. And for 3 years and living in the area I can say I wasted my money on other places that cost way more.

Here's the thing. Dumplings are their own thing. Usually dumplings are paper-thin. There's are super thick. Just how they do it. Maybe you love them. Maybe not. The insides are good but I wasn't a fan of the dough. Not a knock on them, they did everything perfect I just don't love it.

However. Egg rolls. Orange chicken. Rice. All that other stuff we got. It's an incredible meal, it's enough to eat for 2 or so days. I'm so happy to have finally went (friend told me that despite moving to the city, he still comes back just for Old Peking. That was the final push)

It's a hole in the wall place thats clean, nice and sells food that should cost four times as much.

Try it. It's wonder.
And thats coming from a person who's eaten at places that are world famous and popping up throughout Chicago and eventually here.

Sesame chicken is ALWAYS slammin. Beef lo mein is never a disappointment. This place is THE best spot for Chinese food. I live by west side and I'll still drive to montgomery ave for this place. All the other Chinese spots by me aren't as good.

From college life to Married Life Old Peking has been number one. Great Customer Service. Really Good Honey Chicken Wings and Shrimp in Garlic Sauce and... 😄

My husband and I eat here very frequently. This is the best Chinese food in the area. Highly recommend! Try the Honey wings too. Delicious!

Great customer service and super clean kitchen. General Tso is always on point with just the right amount of sauce and chicken is crispy. Only Chinese place i ever go to.
