Thoroughly enjoyed working for the Suffolk County Board of Elections in Yaphank because it gave me the opportunity to see and experience the "behind" the scenes how the system works. The employees that work at the SCBE in Yaphank are wonderfully personable and knowledgeable. The only drawback of the position is starting at 5 AM for the general and major elections. I felt this was my contribution as a civic duty.

Called from Europe. Spoke to a polite human. She informed me of the date our absentee ballots were mailed to us and she verified the address. Short, sweet, efficient. Assuming the ballot arrives on time, this was the best interaction with a government employee ever!

The people that work here are very nice, but their outdated systems and policies are from the last century. The "contact us" link directs you to the voter registration department for the city.

My voter registration was "inactivated" when I temporarily forwarded my mail while I was out of town. I basically had to re-register myself.

The on-line registration was through a third party, so I was told not to rely on it.

My mail in registration form was lost. I eventually had to go down person to get re-registered. When I checked this morning, the website still said I was registered. Yet when I called, it said I have been reactivated. I guess the website has a lag time with the computer system.

If we are trying to discourage people from voting, then we have a great system. I would suggest that we get into the current century with on-line registration, no-excuse-required absentee ballots and early voting. All of these were available in Florida, which is supposed to be a backwater compared to NY, right?

iT WAS A COMPLETE DISASTER TRYING TO CAST MY VOTE LAST EVENING.
AS A RESULT OF THE CHAOS WE COULD NOT VOTE.

IT WAS A WASTE EVEN GOING TO THE POLLING PLACE IN AMITYVILLE.
WE ARRIVED READY TO VOTE TO BE TOLD WE COULD NOT VOTE DEMOCRATIC WE WERE REGISTERED REPUBLICANS.

WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN DEMOCRATS IT SEEMS THIS WAS NOT NOTED CORRECTLY.

WE WERE THEN GIVEN A FORM TO CHANGE OUR PARTY BUT HAD TO WAIT A HALF HOUR AND THE MAN ASSISTING US WAS CONSTANTLY INTERRUPTED.
THERE WERE OTHER VERY UNHAPPY PEOPLE THERE.

MY HUSBAND AND I ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE VOTING SYSTEM.
THANK YOU ANNE
