Kāhi Hāli'a Aloha Memorial

Nice place to sit on a bench and people watch.

우연히 카피올라니 공원을 걷다가 호놀룰루 동물원 입구에 있는 유적을 방문하게 되었습니다.
"The place of loving remembrance" 사랑의 추억이 깃든 곳이라는 표시를 보고 가슴이 뭉쿨해졌습니다.
우리가 즐겁게 찾는 세계적인 휴양지 와이키키.
그러나 하와이 원주민들에게는 지난 2000년간 바로 이 모래밭이 놀이터였고, 왕족들의 거처가 있던 곳이었습니다.
와이키키를 개발하면서 발견된 200여 유골을 여기에 모신다는 후손들의 작은 명판을 보며 가볍게 지나칠 수 없는 곳이라는 생각이 들었습니다. 바로 옆에 간디 동상도 있습니다.

ホノルル動物園の海側にあるモニュメントです。整備されており、とても綺麗です。

Not quite sure what to think of this memorial, but it’s here already. Maybe tourists will see it and learn something of the messed-up history about the place that they consider paradise.

誰もいない木陰で友人とランチを楽しんでいたら、いつの間にか日本人に囲まれていました。日本人がいないからいいと思ってココにしたのに何故か群れたがる。安心するんでしょうか？海外旅行くらいはなるべく離れていたいものです。それが無ければ静かで気持ちのいい場所です。

What an absolute disgrace to Hawaiians! You take our ancestors bones, found in Waikiki while building your million dollar high rises & hotels, and bury them in a hole with a “memorial” next to the zoo?!?!!!? Appalling & disgusting!!! #iwikupuna
