Been here watching my family for at least 13 years. Perfect place for families or people wanting a family environment. I haven't trained but the services offered don't have me questioning the 20 minute drive several times per week. Seems to be a well rounded education with lessons while standing and on the ground

At RAM you can expect a professional, extremely high level environment to learn jiu jitsu and MMA. Every coach is willing to help everyone on their individual path and the environment of the gym is warm and friendly while being serious and high intensity at the same time.
RAM has become my home.

As a law enforcement officer, RAM has taught me self defense skills that I find really useful in my career. It has also become my family and the primary reason why my fiancé and I are still living in Lynchburg. The owners are genuine and really care about their students all around; they are invested in the betterment of their students in providing a healthy outlet with a caring team. I got engaged after one of the jiu jitsu classes because it’s just that much of a close-knit family. I joined less than a year ago and it has become a place where I can be myself and feel accepted and everyone is invested in developing each other’s skills. The training environment is also unlike any other place I’ve seen. I can’t wait to have my first competition soon! Thank you to RAM and all of the coaches!

My husband and I, both 39, just joined this gym and started muay thai classes three nights a week. This is a new experience for us, but all staff/coaches are very patient, encouraging, and friendly. The curriculum helps to build you from the basics up in each class. Additionally, the environment is fantastic, whether you are a beginner or more advanced. Everyone in class, teachers and students are helpful. It truly feels like a community where everyone supports each other's growth. Cannot say enough positives about RAM, we love it. Absolutely worth the price and time commitment.

Renaissance Academy is the best place to learn about martial arts, the instructors and staff are all very kind and very knowledgeable about the art, and they want you to succeed. There is nothing I can say badly about their classes and teaching styles, my only issue is how they take payment, they use a company called member services. You make payments through them and have to contact them to put your account on hold if your going away. I was leaving for the summer and called member services and put my account on hold. A month later I get daily calls from member services asking to make a payment. Long story long after a few more email exchanges with member services they say I owe $500 for all the months I have not been going to classes. That is my biggest complaint and it’s not renaissance academy’s fault

"There is no place like home"- this encompasses RAM completely. I began training the summer of 2017, signed up for a year and after several months of training I unfortunately moved out of state. During that time RAM made canceling my membership a breeze as they talked me through all the steps I needed to take to get my membership canceled. While away I visited many gyms, trying to find one to match the quality that RAM has and none compared.
A year later I returned to Lynchburg and have been training at RAM ever since. There is a wealth of knowledge at RAM that is second to none. The coaches are great at delivering information for all levels of experience to understand and get something out of. RAM is family friendly but also is great for those who want to compete. The coaches have all had competition experience and many still actively compete. This place has become a second home and the people that train at RAM are family. Whether you want to just get in shape, learn self defense, find something for your kids, or compete- RAM is hands down the best place to do it.

RAM has great coaches and amazing students. The environment is very encouraging and there are a variety of skill levels to learn from. I have been a student for around 5 years and have met amazing people and learned techniques for self-defense, sport, and fitness. Starting this journey was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

As a twenty four year old I was nervous jumping into martial arts so late. I decided to take a chance and enrolled at RAM. I'm happy to say I'm having a blast and it has turned into something I look forward to every week. The staff are welcoming and not judgmental, happy to help you however they can. The facility is top notch and we'll maintained. The curriculum is well presented and works with you from the ground up. Best of all, I can enjoy all of this with people my own age who are equally passionate about it. A word of warning however; this place is not cheap and you are locked in until your contract runs out. If you really want to do it it's absolutely worth it, but if you are a busy person and can't make two or more meetings a week, you would be better off passing.

Walking through the doors at RAM was the best decision of my life. After separating from the AF at 23 post-DUI, 80 pounds overweight, and unable to do 3 pushups, I thought it would be cool. The staff of coaches along with my new giant family of students made me feel at ease and empowered immediately. After several years of obsession, I was teaching the kids and adults. After college, I moved to Las Vegas and the skills and more importantly confidence that I picked up over the years served me very well and still do! No matter how bad of a day you're having, when you walk through those doors, your mood and smile will improve!

My absolute favorite place to train in mixed martial arts. I've been to many gyms from Virginia to New York to Los Angeles and RAM is my favorite. It's great having UFC fighters come to visit and train as well. Great for children, adults, people wanting to get into shape and/or learn how to defend themselves, or those wanting to compete. Thanks for providing a great atmosphere and top level training. God bless!

This gym is amazing. I had the pleasure of training there for a year and it is still the gold standard of martial arts gym in my mind. I had to move away for the military and have not been able to find any other place that has the type of culture that welcomes everyone from the beginner level to upper level fighter. The coaching here is second to none.

Such an amazing environment. The coaches are the best and care about the students progression. Everyone is so focused on getting better each class and it’s contagious. If you’re looking for a gym to train, this is the place to be.

Top quality instruction in multiple styles of martial arts, fitness and self defense. I trained here from 2007-2012 and have since moved away but come back to visit about once a year. The school, instructors and curriculum continue to evolve every time that I come back.

After 12 years in martial arts training and 3 states traveled, I still haven't found anything close to the level of RAM.

One of the best decisions of my life coming to RAM. They have the best and friendliest staff you can imagine. They have classes at times available for just about ANY busy schedule.

They have always been accommodating whenever I've had a billing question or issue, and they truly care about thier students.

Four and a half years of training and I still learn something new each day. Coach Jamie creates an environment that works for people who are trying to get in shape, learn self defense, or compete at a high level. Training at RAM has given me greater discipline, confidence, and a group of friends you can't find anywhere else.

As a lifelong martial artist I have a standard in my mind for schools regarding the character of the school, the safety of the team and the highest level of instruction, in that order. That starts from the head coach and becomes the culture of the school. No doubt, Professor Jamie has built this into the culture of RAM, which exceeds my expectations every time I visit. I’m proud to call RAM my home when I’m in Lynchburg, VA.
